Yorkshire tyrant

Yorkshire did quite well in the 1960s while Brian Sellers was the Chairman of Cricket.
During one of those successful seasons the senior players tried to request Sellers for a bonus in anticipation of another championship title.
Brian Close, the skipper, somehow managed to make the request but then Sellers dismissed it with disdain.
" You'll get your remuneration on September 24, the day of the sacking meeting. Them that survive, you've done it by the skin of your teeth. Them that goes, well, you've had every opportunity. Now, you lot, listen to me. I'm going over on a boat to France tomorrow, and I want to read in The Telegraph that tha's pulled thee socks up, tha's played the cricket this Yorkshire public demands and that tha's got stuck in."

Then he went out of the room. Six or seven steps. He came back and put his head round the door.
"And I know what you're all thinking. Bad luck. I can swim."
