The dying wish

Alfred Shaw, the old Notts bowler, expressed a dying wish that he be burned a 'cricket pitch away' from his old team-mate Arthur Shrewsbury. The request was respected but some weeks later, it was found that the graves were not 22, but 27, yards away. The error was reported to the county secretary.
He said, " That is all right. Alfred always took a five-yard run."
