That's out and we've won the Championship

Glamorgan's triumph in the 1948 County Championship came as a surprise to most people. They were an unfaniced side who won by virtue of good team spirit and brilliant fielding.

Glamorgan went to Bournemouth with only one victory away from the title. The umpire there was Glamorgan veteran Dai Davies. It was his finger that went up for the final wicket.

"That's out," he is supposed to have said, "and we've won the championship!"
