Bradman retired- happy or not
|
|
Freddie Brown led a weak team to Australia for the 1950/51 Ashes series.
He was quite a character and it showed when he puffed his pipe throughout an interrogation by forty Australian and English reporters.
Journalist: " Mr Brown, do you feel you have a good side? "
Brown: " I should be a bloody fool if I didn't think I had a good side."
Journalist: " Won't you be loath to face Miller and Lindwall?"
Brown: " I should not be loath to face anything."
Journalist: " Mr Brown, do you feel any happier now that Bradman retired?"
Brown: " How do you feel?"
England lost the series badly but the Australians loved Brown, the leader.
