Holdingwilley The second best way to enjoy cricket

Mark Taylor

In 1994, Mark Taylor became captain of Australia.
He was not even two series old as a captain when he we first thought of this idea.
He implemented it for the first time in The Ashes ( 1994/95) but then, in that famous series against the West Indies, Taylor made it a custom.
Mark Waugh was not comfortable with this and Michael Bevan too was not pleased at all.

It was a kind of patriotic gesture which one might have expected half a century or more ago but Taylor was special, more so when he was the captain of the team.
