A doosra, that is what the recent tactic by the Sri Lankans of resting Vaas and Murali is. I don't believe for a second that they were merely trying to rest their key players. If that were the case they wouldn't have played in the Ireland game today (in which Murali has been spinning his web).
This tactic is of the ilk of the mind games the Aussies regularly play, taken to the next level. Despite Ricky Ponting's claims that the Aussies don't care about the other teams' tactics, they are going to be having team meetings trying to figure out how to deal with Murali. It was a masterstroke not to allow the Aussies any time against Murali. If the final is an Australia-Sri Lanka affair, Murali is going to be the factor that decides the game and this move by Moody and the Lankans will be hailed as one of the all time smartest tactical moves. But before that there is the little matter of defeating New Zealand in the semis. I think New Zealand are the true dark horse to win this tournament.
