Pakistan, Overs 16 to 19.3
In a sensational finish befitting a sensational tournament, India have beaten Pakistan by 5 precious runs in the final over of the game and the tournament.
Some sensational six hitting by Misbah-ul-Haq and Sohail Tanvir meant that Pakistan drew extremely close in the final few overs, but India kept pegging away at the wickets and did what they had to do to win, bowl Pakistan out.
(Full report to follow)
Pakistan, Overs 11 to 15
To reach their target comfortably, Pakistan needed to be 116 by now, they are far from that, at 99 runs, having lost 6 wickets. While the target is still not out of reach, they will need a big burst from Misbah-Ul-Haq or Yasir Arafat, the men at the crease now, or from one of the tailenders to follow.
Pakistan, Overs 6 to 10
This looks to be shaping up fairly well. To get to the target needed, and going by their average scores in this tournament, Pakistan needed to be at 70 by the end of 10 overs. They are on course for that, with exactly 70 runs on board. India, however, have a toehold in the game on account of the fact that Pakistan have lost 4 wickets by now. Pakistan, Overs 1 to 5
Imran Nazir has been the driving force behind the Pakistani innings so far, and has helped them cross their five over par score of 38. They are now at 44 for 2.
At this rate, Pakistan will comfortably cross 159, which is more than what they need to win the game. Although they have lost two wickets, the man doing all the scoring, Imran Nazir, is still there.
India, Overs 16 to 20
Thanks to some good tight bowling, and key wickets falling at the wrong times, India have fallen significantly short of their tournament par score of 176. They finished at 157 for 5. On an average, India concede 164 runs in their 20 overs, and Pakistan score 159. On both counts, Pakistan are well within range to get this. It is all up to the Indian bowlers now.
India, Overs 11 to 15
While India aren't totally out of it yet, Pakistan have gained significant ground. India are now at 110 for 3.
In order to reach their tournament average of 176, they needed to be at 119 by the end of 15 overs, and they are 9 runs short. While this can be made up, what will be difficult to make up is the loss of Yuvraj Singh. India need a big boost now.
India, Overs 6 to 10
Pakistan have turned the screws, and started pressing the Indians down with some slow, spin bowling. Afridi and Hafeez have been pressed into the attack.
At the end of 10 overs, India are, on an average, at a score of 74. Some clever hitting from Gambhir has pushed India close to it now, at 69 for 2, despite Tanvir pegging things back with a one run-one wicket over earlier in the innings (over number 6, to be precise).
India, Overs 1 to 5
On an average, India has managed a score of 38 runs in the first five overs in this tournament, leading them to an overall score of 176. At the end of five overs India are now at 39 for 1, within range. The target has been reached primarily due to a powerful start from Yousuf Pathan, a man who looks all power, muscle and primal swinging. Since then the Indians have rotated the strike and hit the occasional boundary, making a start as per the pattern they have set in this tournament.
