2nd innings: Players from England are back on the field and they will hope that the 27-runs-in-the-last-5-overs stuckathon doesn't come back to bite them. The Pakistani opening duo jog out towards the 22-yards and will be secretly nervous about the target, given their twinning of chases and collapses far too often for comfort.
Pakistan took pace off the ball and made life very difficult towards the end. Riaz was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Mohammad Irfan and debutant Iftikhar Ahmed picked up one each. Yasir Shah had a poor outing with the ball as he was taken for a lot of runs. This is a tricky target for Pakistan. It is not a small one, but at the same time, it is not big enough. It will be all about who handles the pressure better. Will the dew factor play a role? Take a break and join us back in a while for the run chase...
England have got a good total on the board, but Pakistan have pulled things back towards the end. At 240/2 in 42 overs with Morgan and a set Root at the crease, 300 was easily on the cards, but a tremendous fightback by the Pakistani bowlers, led by Wahab Riaz, meant the visitors were denied at least 25-30 runs at the death. Earlier, after opting to bat, Roy and Hales shared a century opening stand, before the former was dismissed. Hales carried on and recorded his maiden ODI hundred. Root too chipped in with a handy fifty - his 10th in ODIs - but the rest of the batsmen struggled to cope with the slowness of the pitch.

So, that's it from Abu Dhabi. The caravan next moves to the city of nostalgia - Sharjah. With the series placed at 1-1, do join us to see who elbows whom to nudge ahead. For today, it's goodbye and goodnight!
Morgan: "Excellent performance. Commanding performance. What was important was that we learnt from our performance the other day. It's important that we get the strongest part of our game right and Hales-Roy were outstanding and helped us to an above par score. We know how Adil (Rashid) can bowl and he is a very aggressive bowler. It helps to have a score on the board. We are always looking to improve. Definitely not our best performance and Sharjah will present a different challenge."
Azhar: "England played very well. We were expecting them to come hard at us. Their bowlers were very good. Our bowlers bowled well to restrict them. We didn't play the brand of cricket we wanted to play - didn't start well. We should have chased this down. I take the responsibility for that. Babar Azam has been opening in domestic cricket and he has scored runs there. Rizwan has come in and so we have to push Babar up the order. Wicket was better than the last game. They started well and they got the momentum. It was hard for the bowlers as the ball was coming onto the bat. Alex Hales played some good shots."
Hales: "This innings was very important. We wanted to post a big score and we managed it today. It's one of those wickets where you need to give yourself some time - we have seen that with some single digit scores. Jason (Roy) was brilliant, he has got every shot in the book. Some day, he will convert it into a big one. We cannot afford to be complacent. Yasir (Shah) is one of the best spinners and the pitch didn't spin that much, made the scoring a bit easy."
Alex Hales is the Man of the Match for his maiden ODI hundred
Presentation follows..
After the English openers had powered England to a strong start, the Pakistani bowlers got their act together and used the off-cutters to deny England any easy offering in the last few overs. Choked for runs, England tricked their way to 283 runs, when they were well placed to march to a 300+ score. Willey then started frugally with the ball, picking up two wickets early on to rock the hosts. Pakistan, doing with a makeshift opener, never came back into the game as the bowlers, helped by rash shots and a lacking temperament, chipped in with regular strikes to thump Pakistan. With two ODIs to go, the series is nicely placed and with a rejuvenated England, it should be an interesting watch.
Handshakes all around and Root has the patent cheeky grin on his face. This target was always iffy and Pakistan, yet again, showed why batting first and setting up a target can make them nervy. Really nervy. The pitch was old and slowed down in the second innings but Pakistan's shot selection and the induced panic proved to be contagious as the English bowlers ensured a regular march back to the pavilion.
