Tamim has been batting really well in this tournament so far, but facing Mohammad Amir is going to be challenging. All excited for the action to begin. Amir warms up at the top of his bowling mark and we are all set to go! One slip in place

Welcome back for the run chase. Pakistan have a good bowling attack and 201 is a lot to play with for their bowlers. They will feel confident about their chances. Afridi and Co. form a huddle. No intense words. They know that if they keep it simple, they can seal this. Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar stride out for Bangladesh, who would have to pull off a record run chase if they are to win this contest. The track is very good for batting and if they apply themselves, they have a great chance as well.

Pakistan boast an excellent total of 201. Captain Afridi wanted his side to adhere to aggressive batsmanship and his batsmen have responded beautifully. Sharjeel started off in a thunderous manner as he took on Al-Amin, carting him for 18 runs off the second over. After he was dismissed, the pair of Hafeez and Shehzad took over and were sublime with their stroke-play, slamming fifties and kept the score ticking along. Boom Boom Afridi promoted himself up the order and cranked up to top gear right from the word go, smashing a 18-ball 49. Bangladeshi bowlers were put away with utter disdain. The pitch looks like a belter and Bangladesh will be hoping that their batsmen can overhaul this total. Join us for scene-two of this match in a short while.

That innings never slowed down. The run-rate graph was impressive right through with some masterful batting from the likes of Shehzad, Hafeez for the second wicket stand, which set up the stage for Afridi's blitz. "Openers gave a good start. Set the momentum and we continued with that. We have forgotten the past. Last two months we haven't played well. Everyone took the challenge. We played well in the warmup game and that boosted our confidence. Great sign for the team that Afridi is hitting the ball well. Pressure will be on the batting side to chase it down. Yes, it's a good pitch but we have the quality in our bowling department and back ourselves," assures Mohammad Hafeez who manages to sneak in an interview after the innings.

Shoaib Malik 15(9) Imad Wasim 0(0) Taskin Ahmed 4-0-32-2

19.6 - Taskin Ahmed to Shoaib Malik, 1 run, executes the yorker this time and Malik can only chop it behind square off an inside edge. Pakistan finish with 201 on the board

19.5 - Taskin Ahmed to Shoaib Malik, 2 runs, takes a couple of steps down, converts it into a low full toss and whips it wide of long-on for a brace

Imad Wasim, left handed bat, comes to the crease

19.4 - Taskin Ahmed to Afridi, out Caught by Mahmudullah!! Afridi falls one short of a whirlwind fifty, could have been the fastest for Pakistan. But instead he flogs a fullish off-cutter straight to deep mid-wicket. Had to pick it from well outside off and maybe that's why he couldn't time it nicely. But what a knock! He's catapulted Pakistan towards a big big score. Afridi c Mahmudullah b Taskin Ahmed 49(19) [4s-4 6s-4]

Taskin Ahmed to Afridi, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

19.3 - Taskin Ahmed to Shoaib Malik, 1 run, three balls and all three times he's missed out on the yorker. Pressure getting to Taskin. This one is a high full toss just outside off, Malik sees the opportunity to slice it to the third man fence. Arches his back and opens the bat-face but finds the man in the ring

19.2 - Taskin Ahmed to Shoaib Malik, FOUR, that's not a bad ball I tell you. Around six inches short of the yorker length, but Malik winds up and comes down like a tempest on the ball to smash it straight of long-on

19.1 - Taskin Ahmed to Shoaib Malik, FOUR, full toss and it's been sliced past backward point. For once, Taskin misses out and the margin of error is so little. Malik goes hard at it and beats the diving sweeper cover

Afridi 49(18) Shoaib Malik 3(4) Shakib 4-0-39-0

18.6 - Shakib to Afridi, SIX, and he makes most of it. Another six which flew right off the bottom of the bat. Shakib cleverly fires it wider outside off to get it outside Afridi's zone. He goes down on one knee, reaches out with a slog-sweep and swings hard. His weapon does the rest

18.5 - Shakib to Shoaib Malik, 1 run, shimmies down and works a single to long-on. Gives Afridi one ball

18.4 - Shakib to Shoaib Malik, no run, fired in the blockhole again, Malik can only so much as nudge it back down the pitch

18.3 - Shakib to Afridi, 1 run, slower through the air and almost lands in the blockhole, Afridi's bat comes down hard and he slaps it down to long-off

18.2 - Shakib to Afridi, FOUR, that's been pulverized through extra-cover. Such a powerful back foot drive. Made room to an arm-ball which kept following him and then scorched it hard

Oh, think Shakib sensed a Mankad there. Malik was backing away and he just stopped in his delivery stride. Just a caution

18.1 - Shakib to Shoaib Malik, 1 run, slightly short but Malik opts to give the strike back to Afridi with a soft pull to deep mid-wicket

Shakib Al Hasan [3.0-0-26-0] is back into the attack

Already looks like a giant score. But the lights will soon come on and I just have this feeling that the ball will come on better if anything. Bangladesh still in this..

17.6 - Taskin Ahmed to Shoaib Malik, 1 run, bends low trying to slice the yorker length delivery through the off-side, chops it off a thick under-edge into the leg-side instead

Shoaib Malik, right handed bat, comes to the crease

17.5 - Taskin Ahmed to U Akmal, out Caught by Shakib!! Umar dies for the cause. Just couldn't get the length he wanted to lift it over the infield. Ends up spooning it straight to the fielder at mid-off. Bangladesh pulling things back slightly and once again it's through Taskin. I remember him being brilliant at the death in those qualifiers. And now here too. U Akmal c Shakib b Taskin Ahmed 0(2)

Taskin Ahmed to U Akmal, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

17.4 - Taskin Ahmed to U Akmal, no run, tries to go over mid-off but again Taskin does a good job of keeping it full. Blazes the drive to the fielder

17.3 - Taskin Ahmed to Afridi, 1 run, drills a fullish ball down to long-off. It was too full to get underneath

Umar Akmal is called upon by the umpires who gather and have some advice for him. Probably some words were exchanged between him and some of the fielders. Just guessing

17.2 - Taskin Ahmed to Afridi, no run, very full outside off, and Afridi misses out. Pummels the drive straight to extra-cover

17.1 - Taskin Ahmed to Afridi, SIX, Afridi is not playing cricket now. He is playing Mortal Kombat. Short ball just outside off, makes room and forehands it over extra-cover. Flat-batted it hard and cleared the ropes just about

16.6 - A Sunny to Afridi, 1 run, runs down the track, takes it on the full and drills it down to long-on

16.5 - A Sunny to Afridi, FOUR, moves to leg, picks the full toss and slices it. Splits short third man and backward point to perfection. Sunny had fired it in and Afridi used all the pace

Umar Akmal, right handed bat, comes to the crease

16.4 - A Sunny to Hafeez, out Caught by Soumya Sarkar!! Soumya Sarkar has pulled off a catch which is becoming customary in these tournaments. Hafeez mistimes the slog, but it still looked like going over the ropes at deep mid-wicket. Sarkar moves across a yard or so inside the boundary line, times the leap well to his left and takes it over his left shoulder while in the air. Knows that the momentum will take him over the ropes so he tosses the ball in the air. Then jumps inside to catch the ball. Excellent composure. Hafeez c Soumya Sarkar b A Sunny 64(42) [4s-7 6s-2]

A Sunny to Hafeez, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

16.3 - A Sunny to Hafeez, FOUR, this is brilliant improvisation. Sees the bowler dart one into his pads after he came dancing down, then swats it behind square with a clean swing. That flew off the middle

16.2 - A Sunny to Afridi, 1 run, full toss fired in on middle, flicked to deep mid-wicket

16.1 - A Sunny to Hafeez, 1 run, can only nudge a single down to long-on after being cramped for room while dancing down

Last two overs have gone for 36. Afridi has absolutely bombed Bangladesh.

Afridi 25(9) Hafeez 59(39) Al-Amin 3-0-43-0

15.6 - Al-Amin to Afridi, SIX, Afridi is in the driving range. That's how you swing a golf club. Wooh! Picks the slower fuller ball on middle, clears the front leg and kills it over long-on. Soars way back into the stands

15.5 - Al-Amin to Hafeez, 1 run, slower short of length delivery just outside off, Hafeez pats it in front of short third man

15.4 - Al-Amin to Hafeez, FOUR, Pakistan are in full throttle now and Bangledesh just don't know what to do. Another attempted yorker goes wrong. It's a full toss on off. Hafeez feigns to off, then moves to leg to create room and laces the drive wide of long-off

15.3 - Al-Amin to Hafeez, FOUR, Hafeez is already into position for a scoop even as Al-Amin is in his delivery stride, tries to take the pace off the ball but ends up botching it up. The slower ball never lands. Hafeez simply paddles it fine for an easy four

15.2 - Al-Amin to Afridi, 1 run, tries to whip a yorker length delivery through mid-wicket, chops it onto pad off an inside edge and it rolls away for a single into the off-side

15.1 - Al-Amin to Afridi, 2 runs, spears it full on the pads, flicked nonchalantly through the mid-wicket region, it's between two deep fielders and they jog back for two

Al-Amin Hossain [2.0-0-25-0] is back into the attack

14.6 - Mortaza to Afridi, 1 run, excellent ball, but it's come at the end of an over which has cost 18. Right in the blockhole and Afridi squeezes it down to long-on

14.5 - Mortaza to Afridi, no run, left alone. I repeat. Left alone. Probably expected a wide outside off. But Mortaza managed to fire a yorker just inside the tramline

14.5 - Mortaza to Afridi, no ball, SIX, Mortaza panics, looks for the yorker and overcooks it miserably to dish out a very high full toss. What's worse? Afridi has swung it over the deep backward square leg fence. Free-hit to follow

14.4 - Mortaza to Afridi, FOUR, wow. Now he's plonked his front leg across, bent his knees and lapped it fine. Mortaza's heart just went racing

14.3 - Mortaza to Afridi, FOUR, short on the hips, Afridi pivots on the back leg while swivelling across and blasts the pull behind square. Here we go..

14.2 - Mortaza to Hafeez, 1 run, well bowled. Sees him coming and follows him while shortening his length. Hafeez nudges it off a thick inside edge wide of the bowler and scampers across and makes it despite a direct-hit from Mortaza. Fifty for him too. This innings has been a joy to behold

Back over the wicket to Hafeez.

13.6 - S Rahman to Hafeez, no run, quicker through the air and contains Hafeez to a push back down the pitch after striding out of the crease

Shahid Afridi, right handed bat, comes to the crease

13.5 - S Rahman to Ahmed Shehzad, out Caught by Mahmudullah!! An utter long-hop produces the breakthrough. Shehzad sees the length, hops back in the crease trying to helicopter whip it over deep mid-wicket. Doesn't hit it well enough and holes out. Straight to the fielder who didn't need to do much at all. Nevertheless, a good knock from the opener. And Afridi has promoted himself. Ahmed Shehzad c Mahmudullah b S Rahman 52(39) [4s-8]

S Rahman to Ahmed Shehzad, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

13.4 - S Rahman to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, shimmies down and almost yorks himself before squeezing a rushed drive to the bowler

13.3 - S Rahman to Hafeez, 1 run, backs away to get beside the line of the ball and steers it to deep cover

13.2 - S Rahman to Hafeez, 2 runs, goes down on one knee and sweeps to deep backward square. A fumble from Taskin allows a second. Bangladesh's intensity is on a freefall

13.1 - S Rahman to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, here's Rahman, and here's Shehzad. Hurtling out of the blocks, gets slightly cramped as Rahman follows him. Drags the slog off the inside half down to long-on

12.5 - Mortaza to Hafeez, 1 run, swivels across to a short of length delivery and helps the pull to deep backward square. Had to hold the shot slightly as the ball just refused to come on

12.4 - Mortaza to Hafeez, FOUR, length ball and it's been heaved wide of long-on. That's all it was. He looks to be the man who will go hell for leather now. Didn't time it well but placed it nicely

12.3 - Mortaza to Hafeez, no run, short of length on middle and leg, doesn't bounce as much as Hafeez wants as he commits to the pull. Gets struck on the thigh

12.2 - Mortaza to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, fifty for Shehzad! Riding on a comeback trail, what a start it has been. First match of the tournament and sets it up nicely from here. Tucks a short of length delivery behind square and then raises his bat

12.1 - Mortaza to Ahmed Shehzad, FOUR, Mortaza is very lucky to get away with five wides. Don't think Shehzad got anything on that. A shocking short ball down leg, Shehzad goes hard on the pull but fails to connect due to the lack of bounce and Rahim fails to gather as well. Only gets some of his gloves and deflects it to the fence

Mashrafe Mortaza [1.0-0-12-0] is back into the attack

11.5 - Al-Amin to Hafeez, 1 run, attempts an almighty slog from just outside off, the length was there to be caned but the ball may have held up slightly. Chopped through square leg off a thick inside edge

11.4 - Al-Amin to Hafeez, no run, skiddy length ball on off, defended back down the pitch

11.3 - Al-Amin to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, length ball on off, Shehzad tries to force it through the off-side, but his bat turns on impact and he drags it down to long-on

11.2 - Al-Amin to Ahmed Shehzad, FOUR, slower short ball, sits up to be hit as all the pace is sucked out and Shehzad hammers the pull through square leg after fetching the ball from around waist height

11.1 - Al-Amin to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, he's down on pace. Just 125ks. Or maybe this is the warm-up ball. Short of length outside off, chopped to backward point

10.6 - Shakib to Hafeez, 2 runs, drops it slightly short with enough width outside off, Hafeez's emphasis is all on placement and timing at the moment. Laces the cut past backward point and collects another couple before sweeper cover tidies up

10.5 - Shakib to Hafeez, no run, oh well bowled. Lovely flight on the ball outside off, as a result he generated extra bounce and the ball looped over Hafeez's attempted sweep through to the keeper

10.4 - Shakib to Hafeez, FOUR, there's the footwork which is so brilliant. Almost jumps back in the crease seeing the length trifle short, allows him the time and room to put it anywhere. Spanks the pull wide of long-on

10.3 - Shakib to Hafeez, 2 runs, too full outside off, sliced wide of backward point. Sweeper cover is forced into a sprint, then has to dive to flick it back in

10.2 - Shakib to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, slider on middle, Shehzad is down the track looking to slog. Drags it off the inside half to long-on

9.6 - S Rahman to Hafeez, 2 runs, in many ways, this has been such an un-Pakistan like partnership. Sensible batting, good running. Nudged softly in front of deep mid-wicket and then hares back for a couple

9.5 - S Rahman to Hafeez, no run, guided into the off-side with the turn

9.4 - S Rahman to Hafeez, no run, quicker through the air, lands on a length on middle and leg, Hafeez is only slightly forward and pats it gently after letting it turn

9.3 - S Rahman to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, slips towards the pads after drifting on with the arm, clipped behind square

9.2 - S Rahman to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, yorks himself after racing out of the crease, jams it back to the bowler

9.1 - S Rahman to Ahmed Shehzad, FOUR, Rahman introduces himself with a stinker. Short on middle and leg, Shehzad remains composed though. Goes deep in the crease and whips it wide of long-on. Good orthodox cricket

8.5 - Shakib to Hafeez, 1 run, shuffles to leg as the ball slides on quickly from a length, twirls his wrists on the punch to get it through the covers

8.4 - Shakib to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, teased up just outside off, Shehzad plonks across and knocks it wide of cover

8.3 - Shakib to Hafeez, 1 run, slower and fuller on middle, flicked through mid-wicket. The lack of turn is allowing them to play across the line

8.2 - Shakib to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, nurdled behind square, went deep in the crease and allows the ball to slide on before helping it with the angle

7.6 - Mortaza to Ahmed Shehzad, FOUR, my word! That's replete with timing and all the elegance in the world. Shortish just outside off, Shehzad sees that there isn't much room to cut. So he waits for the ball and dabs it behind backward point. Speeds off the outfield

7.5 - Mortaza to Hafeez, 1 run, goes back and nudges a back of a length delivery to deep mid-wicket

7.4 - Mortaza to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, Shehzad's heart was pounding once he came down the track and saw Mortaza shortening his length. Tried to go through with the on-the-rise cover drive and then skipped around to see where the ball was. He had chopped it off a thick inside edge behind square

7.3 - Mortaza to Ahmed Shehzad, FOUR, it's actually not all that short. Even if it is, the ball doesn't get up that much and the odds are stacked up against Shehzad's attempted pull. He swivels across and swings it over and behind square leg. Got enough bat on it and beats the man chasing at fine leg

7.2 - Mortaza to Hafeez, 1 run, fullish and Hafeez places it between the fielders at long-on and deep mid-wicket with a turn of the wrists, the two should have been on but the duo stray towards caution

7.1 - Mortaza to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, back of a length delivery on middle and leg, Shehzad glances it behind square

6.6 - A Sunny to Hafeez, SIX, tossed up, Hafeez is down the track and .. poof! It's disappeared over long-on. This has been a masterclass from Hafeez so far in playing spin. Now and again he's using his feet to put them off their lengths. This time he moved towards leg as well to create enough room so that his batswing isn't hindered

6.5 - A Sunny to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, sliding on from a length on off, clipped with the angle through square leg

6.4 - A Sunny to Hafeez, 1 run, shuffles to leg to counter the arm-ball skidding on from middle, whips it to long-on

6.3 - A Sunny to Hafeez, no run, marvellous flight. Lobs it above the batsman's eyeline, then gets it to dip on a length out of Hafeez's reach, grips the surface and rips past his outside edge as he tries to dab it into the off-side

6.2 - A Sunny to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, looped up judiciously and drifting in towards off from round the wicket, driven down to long-off

6.1 - A Sunny to Hafeez, 1 run, slower through the air on off, Hafeez comes forward, waits for the turn and opens the bat-face to steer it wide of short third man. Not enough pace on the ball to get it through the man

5.5 - Shakib to Hafeez, FOUR, he's met the pitch of this one and blazed it straight of mid-off. Lovely use of the feet again and absolutely drilled it hard

5.4 - Shakib to Hafeez, no run, pushed back to the bowler

5.4 - Shakib to Hafeez, wide, there's a loud appeal for a stumping and we are going upstairs. 5.3 - Shakib to Hafeez, FOUR, he's done in by the length but goes through with the chip backing himself to clear mid-off which was up in the ring. Ventured out of the crease, Shakib tossed it slower while holding it back. The lack of turn allowed Hafeez to go through

2.6 - A Sunny to Hafeez, no run, fires it in immediately as a riposte to that six. Darted on middle and slides on with the angle rapidly to hit the pad of Hafeez as he tries to play across the line. Would have gone down leg

2.5 - A Sunny to Hafeez, SIX, one step, two steps, and bang! Sunny didn't see this coming. Tosses it up nicely with some indrift towards the stumps, Hafeez is nimble-footed to get to the pitch, not a lot of turn and he lofts it handsomely over long-on. Second ball he's faced. Pakistan are going to go here..

2.4 - A Sunny to Hafeez, no run, slower through the air and skidding on from a length towards middle and leg, the length can't be smothered with a big front foot stride so Hafeez goes back and blocks

Mohammad Hafeez, right handed bat, comes to the crease

2.3 - A Sunny to Sharjeel Khan, out Bowled!! Sharjeel's rashness gets the better of him. This one is beautifully pulled back by Sunny. Sees the batsman skip out of the crease, pushes it quicker while shortening the length on middle and off, the ball skids on past Sharjeel's attempted dab and just about brushes the off-stump. Sharjeel Khan b A Sunny 18(10) [4s-1 6s-2]

A Sunny to Sharjeel Khan, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

2.2 - A Sunny to Sharjeel Khan, no run, flatter trajectory, stays round the wicket to the left-hander too, Sharjeel goes back to a relatively fuller ball and blocks

2.1 - A Sunny to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, sliding on with the arm from round the wicket, tucked through mid-wicket

Sharjeel Khan 18(8) Ahmed Shehzad 6(4) Al-Amin 1-0-18-0

1.6 - Al-Amin to Sharjeel Khan, FOUR, Sharjeel is hurtling now! Looks like he's decided that anything up to him has to go. Sees the length, swings it over mid-off with an exaggerated batswing. Think he ended up slicing it but again the connection is good enough. Problems for Bangladesh..

1.5 - Al-Amin to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, short of length on the hips, nurdled wide of mid-wicket

Some movement behind the bowler's arm and Shehzad pulls out when Hossain was almost in his delivery stride

1.4 - Al-Amin to Sharjeel Khan, 1 run, shortish outside off, not as much bounce as Sharjeel expects, chops an attempted cut in front of backward point and the call is instantaneous from his partner

1.3 - Al-Amin to Sharjeel Khan, SIX, how's that gone for six? Came right off the bottom of the bat. These are short straight boundaries at Eden though. Similar fullish ball outside off, only that it's a lot closer to off, in Sharjeel's swinging arc and he goes through the line. Doesn't time it well but enough wood on bats these days

1.2 - Al-Amin to Sharjeel Khan, no run, oh, nerves! Or maybe that's how he plays. Flashes hard at a fullish delivery angled away outside off, threw everything at it but didn't get the front foot across. Beaten by the angle

1.1 - Al-Amin to Sharjeel Khan, SIX, whips the pull into a jam-packed backward square leg stand to send the people roaring. Short ball, sits up to be hit on leg stump, Sharjeel swivels inside the line and pulls it sweetly. All the way

Al-Amin Hossain, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack

Absolutely no swing whatsoever. Won't be surprised if Mortaza resorts to spin. Nope. It's Al-Amin Hossain

0.6 - Taskin Ahmed to Sharjeel Khan, leg byes, 1 run, wrong line but Taskin gets away with a mere leg-bye. Sharjeel is too late to get his bat across on the flick. Rolls away off the knee-roll wide of mid-wicket

0.5 - Taskin Ahmed to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, gets back in the crease as Taskin pulls his length back around off, then rides the bounce and nudges it wide of mid-on for a single

0.4 - Taskin Ahmed to Ahmed Shehzad, FOUR, that's been creamed through the covers. Plants his front leg across to a length ball and drives it on the up. A hint of wobble in the air but still races away off the middle

0.3 - Taskin Ahmed to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, length ball around off, Shehzad isn't fully forward but the lack of movement allows him to defend

0.2 - Taskin Ahmed to Sharjeel Khan, 1 run, this one skids on, hurries Sharjeel on the pull, lobs up off the splice and Tamim has misjudged it at mid-on. Makes an absolute meal. The ball popped up, he backtracked initially but seemed slow. Eventually it loops over his head and lands beyond him

0.1 - Taskin Ahmed to Sharjeel Khan, no run, and that low bounce evident straightaway. Slanted across off on a back of a length, Sharjeel stands tall and punches to backward point. Got it close to the bottom

Sharjeel Khan and Ahmed Shehzad are at the crease. Sharjeel Khan is on strike. Taskin Ahmed will open the attack

So, Pakistan have flexed their muscle and sent out a strong message to the rest of the competition. It is India lined up next for them and what a cracker that will be on the 19th. However, there's plenty of action before that. Right as I type, the toss is about to take place in Mumbai where England take on West Indies. Over to the other tab. See you!

Mortaza: "200 is always difficult. After six overs it became almost impossible. Shakib batted really well and we got 150, so not so bad. Looking ahead, we need to bowl better and make more use of the first six overs with the bat. Bengaluru wicket is flat so the bowlers need to come up with plans. Mustafizur is getting better, hopefully he'll be back."

Afridi: "My performance always plays a key role but I haven't done well recently. It's a big event and I should take responsibility as captain and senior player. Spoke with the coach regarding the batting order today and he was happy with me promoting myself. From last two-three series, our batsmen have struggled to find runs. But today they did well. Likes of Mohammad Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad. Openers play a very important role. Sharjeel is a good attacking cricketer too. If he gets going, he can score 60 runs in the first six overs. I expect good things from him, especially on these pitches which are heaven for batsmen. We don't want to live in past. Need to play good cricket against India, and learn from our previous mistakes against them. Our morale is pretty high after this win. Captaincy isn't an easy job (chuckles), but team is giving 100% and I am enjoying captaincy as well."

Afridi is Man of the Match for a scintillating all-round display

So a win today will answer a lot of questions for Pakistan. Or will it only establish what we have known for years? That Pakistan forget every problem as they enter a big tournament. Their batting looks weak in comparison to other teams but when it clicks, it is capable of tormenting any attack. And Afridi is still their biggest match winner. Was not he all over the Bangladeshis today? First used his bat as a mace and then marshalled his troops from the front to defend the target.Talking about Bangladesh, they should not get disheartened. Their much-awaited outing at the Eden Gardens did not go as planned. Perhaps it was one of those days for them when nothing fell in place. Regrouping as a unit and forgetting about the loss should be high on their agenda for the matches to come. After all, one match does not decide fate! (India nod)

Chasing 200 in T20Is is cricket's equivalent of scaling the Mount Everest. No matter how frequently it is being done these days, it remains a feat. Unfortunately for Bangladesh, they lacked certitude against the mighty Pakistani bowling to hunt down the mammoth target. Mohammad Amir continued with his habit of sending an opener back in the first over. And when Afridi, with his sheer smartness, removed Sabbir Rahman, Bangladesh would have known that nothing but a miracle could save them. But as is the case with miracles, they are not a regularity. Shahid Afridi continued flaunting his skills and choked Bangladesh.

Tamim 8(12) S Rahman 21(16) Riaz 1-0-6-0

4.6 - Riaz to Tamim, 1 run, in the airrrr, but it eludes the bowler. Shortish delivery from Riaz, Tamim tries to muscle it hard, the ball hits the splice of the bat and flies, Riaz jumps in his followthrough but misses, mid-off thinks about a run-out chance as Tamim was late to take off for the run but couldn't effect a direct-hit

Lala (Afridi) is rolling his arms over. Maybe he's coming on to bowl after this over or very shortly.

4.5 - Riaz to Tamim, no run, Tamim consumes another dot ball, tight length delivery very close to the off stump, Tamim defends it towards short cover, looks for a run which isn't there

4.4 - Riaz to S Rahman, 1 run, slower delivery and Rahman mistimes the slog towards mid-wicket. He wasn't in the best of positions to execute that big hit

4.3 - Riaz to S Rahman, no run, round the wicket now to cramp the batsman for room, it's full and fast outside off stump, Rahman misses the square-drive

4.2 - Riaz to S Rahman, FOUR, short of length delivery outside off stump, the angle across the right-hander from over the wicket gives Rahman a bit more width to free his arms and Rahman slaps it away nicely through wide mid-off. Looked like the ball actually came off the bottom of the bat

4.1 - Riaz to Tamim, leg byes, 1 run, he's struggling to put bat on ball here Tamim. Actually a freebie down the leg-side, a fine little tickle would have been a few runs if not four, but fails to connect the glance and the ball rolls into the on-side off the pad

Wahab Riaz, left-arm fast medium, comes into the attack

S Rahman 16(13) Tamim 7(9) Irfan 2-0-13-0

3.6 - Irfan to S Rahman, no run, oh that was an ugly swing across the line. Once again the off-speed delivery from Irfan bowled at 130kph, Rahman tried to slog, but missed it completely. The fact that Tamim hasn't been scoring runs will put more pressure on the in-form Rahman. We'll wait and watch how it all works out

3.5 - Irfan to Tamim, 1 run, this is gently turned away to square leg

3.4 - Irfan to S Rahman, 1 run, chipped in the air, once again Irfan foxes the batsman with his change of pace, was the slower ball and this time Rahman checks his pull, was in the air for a while, but landed well in front of the incoming Sharjeel Khan at deep square leg

3.3 - Irfan to Tamim, 1 run, slower delivery outside off stump, Tamim moves across and is beaten by the lack of pace, gets an inside edge onto pad that rolls towards backward point

3.3 - Irfan to Tamim, wide, it's down the leg-side and umpire Richard Kettleborough immediately turns to stretch his arms towards the scoreboard. The attempted short delivery from Irfan goes wrong, Tamim tried to help it on its way, swivelled and missed though

3.2 - Irfan to S Rahman, 1 run, very full ball at 147kph, Rahman tries to dig it out, mistimes it to mid-off

3.1 - Irfan to S Rahman, no run, steep bounce for Irfan, but Rahman stands tall and keeps it out

Tamim 5(7) S Rahman 14(9) Amir 2-0-12-1

2.6 - Amir to Tamim, no run, short of length delivery on the off stump, Tamim hops and fends to the left of the bowler

2.5 - Amir to S Rahman, 1 run, the slower delivery again, this is guided away down to third man

2.4 - Amir to S Rahman, no run, looks for a tap-and-run single as he plays at this length delivery with soft hands, but the fielder at point rushes and prevents the run

2.3 - Amir to S Rahman, no run, short of length delivery outside off stump, Rahman defends towards point

2.2 - Amir to S Rahman, FOUR, cut away nicely by Rahman. Again the emphasis on timing and not to hit the ball hard. Looks like this was the slower ball from Amir, Rahman had enough time on the back foot and he sent this through cover-point

2.1 - Amir to Tamim, 1 run, Tamim gets across the stumps a bit and works this length delivery to the left of mid-on

Over: 2 0 1L 4 1 2 1 BAN 15/1
Tamim 4(5) S Rahman 9(5) Irfan 1-0-8-0

1.6 - Irfan to Tamim, 1 run, edgedddd, wide of backward point though. Fullish and just tailing away a bit, Tamim raced down the track and swung hard at it to go over the off-side, only managed an outside edge which cleared the infield and rolled to third man

1.5 - Irfan to Tamim, 2 runs, full and angled in, too straight from Irfan and that allows Tamim to flick it through mid-wicket

1.4 - Irfan to S Rahman, 1 run, short of length delivery on the leg stump, Rahman stands tall and works it through square leg, Tamim was keen for the second, but sent back by his partner and rightly so

1.3 - Irfan to S Rahman, FOUR, top shot, just a flick, a soft shot in fact as he controlled that nicely. Put it past the man at mid-on and the fast outfield does the rest. There was just a bit of inswing on this fullish delivery and Rahman had it covered. As soon as he met that ball, Rahman walks towards the umpire to point some disturbance behind the bowler's arm

1.2 - Irfan to Tamim, leg byes, 1 run, there is that ugly front foot movement right across the stumps from Tamim when trying to play on the on-side, gets him into an awkward position, the glance missed and the ball rolls behind square on the on-side

1.1 - Irfan to Tamim, no run, good length delivery outside off stump, bit of extra bounce for Irfan, Tamim keeps his bat well inside the line of the ball and lets it go

Mohammad Irfan, left-arm fast medium, comes into the attack

One slip in place

Over: 1 1 0 W Wd 4 0 0 BAN 6/1
S Rahman 4(3) Tamim 1(1) Amir 1-0-6-1

0.6 - Amir to S Rahman, no run, Rahman gets right behind the line of this short of length delivery and defends off the back foot

0.5 - Amir to S Rahman, no run, back over the wicket and beating the outside edge. Short of a length delivery angling across, Rahman was looking to defend off the back foot, but the angle took it past him

0.4 - Amir to S Rahman, FOUR, Sabbir Rahman is in great touch of late and he continues his good form. Doesn't try to do anything fancy with this short of length delivery, with width on offer outside off stump, just opens the face of the bat and guides it past backward point, Irfan had no chance at third man

Round the wicket now

0.4 - Amir to S Rahman, wide, Amir tries to slant it across the right-hander, but bowls way outside off stump

Sabbir Rahman, right handed bat, comes to the crease

0.3 - Amir to Soumya Sarkar, out Bowled!! This was coming. Soumya Sarkar was never picking the pace of Amir and this has shattered the off pole. In fact, it goes cartwheeling towards the slip cordon. Just the start Bangladesh didn't want chasing a massive total. Nothing but a length ball on the stumps, but it came at 141kph, skidded off the surface, Sarkar had no clue about it, his feet went nowhere and before his bat came down the stump was uprooted. Soumya Sarkar b Amir 0(2)

Amir to Soumya Sarkar, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

0.2 - Amir to Soumya Sarkar, no run, Sarkar is beaten for pace, this bloke, Mohammad Amir is very skiddy, the flick shot attempted and missed, hit on the pad, but the angle from over the wicket was taking it down the leg-side

0.1 - Amir to Tamim, 1 run, striving for pace there Amir, he loses control though and bowls full and down the leg-side, would have been a wide and a test for Sarfraz, the wicket-keeper, to stop that, but Tamim reaches out and glances it down to long leg, where Irfan bends just enough to make a clean stop

Tamim and Soumya Sarkar are at the crease. Tamim is on strike. Amir will open the attack
