Due to some technical problems, we are unable to cover live matches on our site and app. We are working on it and will be back soon. Please stay tuned for more.

Welcome back.. Sri Lanka have some momentum after pulling things back. Now can their batters stand up and make themselves counted? We'll find out soon as the duo of Dilshan and Gunathilaka make their way out to the middle. Matt Henry to start proceedings. Here we go...

Sri Lanka would be happy with the final total. With the way Guptill and Williamson started, 200 was a bare minimum. The opening pair set off in blazing fashion, Guptill in particular took a liking to the fast bowlers and got to his fifty off just 31 balls. However, after his departure even Williamson lost his timing and the Sri Lankan bowlers kept chipping away at the wickets. Cameos from Munro and Taylor ensured New Zealand reach a competitive score. The visitors should fancy their chances. Will they be able to chase this down? Or will the Black Caps once again pip them? Join us in a short while for the chase...

Ross Taylor 22(9) Elliott 10(6) T Perera 3-0-39-0

19.6 - T Perera to Ross Taylor, no run, gets it right finally, yorker on Taylor's toes, he can only dig this back to the right of the bowler who dives and fields

19.6 - T Perera to Ross Taylor, wide, slower delivery drifting away from the tramline outside off, Taylor gets across but it was too wide to make any connection

19.5 - T Perera to Elliott, 1 run, well run! Elliott drives this off-speed delivery towards extra cover and calls his partner through, there was a throw from the fielder but Elliott was well in before Perera dislodged the bails

19.4 - T Perera to Ross Taylor, 1 run, full pitched and a bit of width on offer again, Taylor finds the gap through cover with a well-timed drive, only a single on offer though

19.3 - T Perera to Ross Taylor, SIX, you can't bowl half-volleys to Ross Taylor. He is a class player and he will punish you all day if you bowl such stuff to him. Stands stall and dispatches this high and straight down the ground

19.2 - T Perera to Elliott, 1 run, another one that's full and just outside off, Elliott drives through extra cover for an easy single

19.1 - T Perera to Elliott, FOUR, Elliott backs away and smacks this fullish delivery from Thisara Perera. He flays this over infield on the off-side and once it beat the fielder it was always going to be a boundary. It was hit over the cover fielder and there was no one in the deep

Thisara Perera [2.0-0-25-0] is back into the attack

Over: 19 0 W 1 1 2 1 NZ 168/4
Elliott 4(3) Ross Taylor 15(6) N Kulasekara 4-0-26-2

18.6 - N Kulasekara to Elliott, 1 run, run-out chance missed again! This time it's Siriwardana from extra cover who misses out on the direct hit. Elliott made room and drove this towards Siriwardana who had all the time in the world to hit the stumps. He missed and Elliott jogged through to keep the strike

18.5 - N Kulasekara to Elliott, 2 runs, gets across and flicks this through mid-wicket for a couple of runs

18.4 - N Kulasekara to Ross Taylor, 1 run, shortish just outside off, Taylor opens the face of the bat and dabs this with an open face towards backward point

18.3 - N Kulasekara to Elliott, 1 run, off-pace delivery outside off, Elliott gets off the mark with a single down to long-off

Grant Elliott, right handed bat, comes to the crease

18.2 - N Kulasekara to Munro, out Caught&Bowled!! Another slower delivery and Munro is on his bike. He tries to drill this delivery over the bowler but was beaten for pace. Ends up spooning a simple catch back to the bowler. Kulasekara ain't dropping that. Munro c and b N Kulasekara 36(26) [4s-2 6s-2]

N Kulasekara to Munro, THAT'S OUT!! Caught&Bowled!!

18.1 - N Kulasekara to Munro, no run, back-of-the-hand slower delivery from Kulasekara. Munro didn't read it. Looks to force it through the off-side, ball clips the pad and sneaks past the leg-stump

Nuwan Kulasekara [3.0-0-21-1] is back into the attack

Over: 18 4 1 4 0 6 1 NZ 163/3
Munro 36(24) Ross Taylor 14(5) Lakmal 3-0-39-0

17.6 - Lakmal to Munro, 1 run, run-out chance missed! Munro drives this fullish delivery towards extra cover and immediately calls for a quick single. He'd given up mid-way but the throw from the fieldsman wasn't accurate (at the bowler's end)

17.5 - Lakmal to Munro, SIX, doesn't matter how it comes but Munro will take it. He is trying every possible way to get a four/six. Now he walks forward and across to smoke this length delivery high and sailing over deep-midwicket

17.4 - Lakmal to Munro, no run, another slower delivery from Lakmal. This was through Munro's legs as he was trying to slog, beaten for pace and Chandimal collects cleanly behind the stumps

17.3 - Lakmal to Munro, FOUR, slower delivery outside off and Munro has picked the bones out of it. Goes deep inside the crease and smacks it over mid-off, one bounce and into the fence

17.2 - Lakmal to Ross Taylor, 1 run, driven down to long-off

17.1 - Lakmal to Ross Taylor, FOUR, Ross has hit 3 boundaries already. He's just faced 4 deliveries. Walks across as he always does and pulls wristily behind square on the leg-side, neatly done, placement was the key there

Suranga Lakmal [2.0-0-23-0] is back into the attack

Over: 17 W 2 1 4 4 1 NZ 147/3
Ross Taylor 9(3) Munro 25(20) Jeffrey Vandersay 4-0-30-1

16.6 - Jeffrey Vandersay to Ross Taylor, 1 run, works this flighted delivery through mid-wicket and keeps the strike

16.5 - Jeffrey Vandersay to Ross Taylor, FOUR, and to aggravate matters - an outside edge for four. This was slower and spinning away, Taylor hangs his bat looking to push/drive, gets a thick outside edge which flies past the keeper

16.4 - Jeffrey Vandersay to Ross Taylor, FOUR, Taylor rubs salt on Vandersay's wound. Dropped short and Taylor was quick to rock on to the back foot, cracking the cut behind backward point

16.3 - Jeffrey Vandersay to Munro, 1 run, dropped. That was a sitter and you can't afford to drop those. Especially in this format of the game. Munro reverses his stance and tries a similar stroke which he did a couple of overs ago. Got a big booming top-edge on that and deep backward point looked settled under it. He somehow allowed the ball to burst through his hands, poor stuff that

16.2 - Jeffrey Vandersay to Munro, 2 runs, spinning into Munro's pads who clips and calls his partner for a double, the misfield at deep mid-wicket also helped his cause

Ross Taylor, right handed bat, comes to the crease

16.1 - Jeffrey Vandersay to Corey Anderson, out Caught by Siriwardana!! Crikey! For a fleeting moment that looked like a six, but it wasn't to be. Corey Anderson's brief knock comes to an end. He sits deep inside the crease to this loopy delivery. Hits hard and powers it straight down the throat of Milinda Siriwardana at long-off. Anderson tried to loft but there wasn't enough timing on the shot. Corey Anderson c Siriwardana b Jeffrey Vandersay 2(3)

15.5 - N Kulasekara to Munro, 1 run, off-speed delivery outside off, driven to long-off

15.4 - N Kulasekara to Munro, no run, Munro too makes room for a slower short delivery. Goes a bit hard looking to flay it over cover, ends up dragging it towards extra cover

15.3 - N Kulasekara to Corey Anderson, 1 run, slower short delivery outside off, Anderson makes room and biffs it towards long-off, off the mark with a single

15.2 - N Kulasekara to Munro, 1 run, fuller one to Munro, Munro drives this towards mid-off and offers the strike to CJ

Corey Anderson, left handed bat, comes to the crease

15.1 - N Kulasekara to Williamson, out Caught by Lakmal!! Aaaaaand the skipper departs. He wasn't really timing the ball well as I mentioned in the previous over and he walks back with a sorry face. Kulasekara followed the batsman and flinged a slower delivery on Williamson's pads who was on the walk. Williamson tried to loft it over long-on but got it off the toe-end. Lakmal runs forward and accepts a simple catch. Williamson c Lakmal b N Kulasekara 53(42) [4s-5 6s-1]

Munro 20(15) Williamson 53(41) Dilshan 2-0-20-0

14.6 - Dilshan to Munro, FOUR, ohh! That's cheeky but a boundary nonetheless. Munro reverses his stance and opts for a KP-esque switch hit. Doesn't get all of it but manages to place it in the gap between short third man and backward point, nice stuff this

14.5 - Dilshan to Munro, SIX, that's better from Munro. He steps out and smacks this flighted delivery high and over long-on, just enough power to clear the fence, finally the momentum seems to be back with New Zealand

14.4 - Dilshan to Williamson, 1 run, Williamson isn't middling the ball well. He dances down the track, fails to get to the pitch of the ball. Ends up mistiming his heave over mid-wicket, on the bounce to the fielder in the deep

14.3 - Dilshan to Munro, 1 run, Munro sits inside the crease and sweeps this slightly fuller delivery through mid-wicket

Well then! That is that from us for today. The second T20I begins the same time on 10 January which is Sunday. So you shouldn't be missing out on that. Because it's a weekend and a T20I. Should be another cracker. Hoping to see you on Sunday. Till then, as ever, goodbye from all us here!

Trent Boult is the Man of the Match for his superb spell with the ball. His bowling figures read: 4-0-21-3.

New Zealand fielding was top-class as ever and they hardly let off any chances that came their way. With 13 needed from the last 6 balls, Elliott held his nerve and rarely offered any freebies. He did offer one - the last ball that is - but the match was decided by then. Sri Lankan top-order has been a huge disappointment and they would surely like to put that to bed in the final game of this tour.

If you ask me to describe how Sri Lanka went about their chase, I would rather put it this way: Gunathilaka, Siriwardana and Thisara Perera (to an extent) were the only batsmen who showed intent and application. The rest of the batsmen were just mere visitors. Although Kapugedera and Kulasekara smashed a few towards the end, it proved to be a little too late for the tourisrts. The wickets clock in the Sri Lankan scoreboard sounded like this: nil, tik-tik-tik-tik meaning they lost 4 wickets inside 5 overs.

Jeffrey Vandersay 4(1) Lakmal 1(1) Elliott 2-0-18-1

19.6 - Elliott to Jeffrey Vandersay, FOUR, That's it. Sri Lanka's woes continue in New Zealand. First the Test series, next the ODIs and now in the T20Is. The hosts go 1-0 up in the series. Coming to the final delivery: Slower and slinging down leg, Vandersay helps it with a scoop past short fine leg but that won't help Sri Lanka's cause

19.5 - Elliott to Lakmal, 1 run, very full outside off, Lakmal squeezes the drive to cover. That must be the game for New Zealand!

Suranga Lakmal, right handed bat, comes to the crease

19.4 - Elliott to Kapugedera, out Kapugedera Run Out!! 1 run completed. So New Zealand can't lose it from here. Unless they bowl something filthy. It was more of a hara-kiri from Sri Lanka. But they had to do so to get closer to the target. Kapugedera nails this full delivery towards long-on and yells out "two, two, two" to his partner. Jeffrey Vandersay responds but to be honest there was never a two there. Ball was flinged to Ronchi meaning Kapugedera was caught short by a long way. Kapugedera run out (Guptill/Ronchi) 17(15) [4s-2]

Elliott to Kapugedera, THAT'S OUT!! Run Out!!

Jeffrey Vandersay, right handed bat, comes to the crease

19.3 - Elliott to N Kulasekara, out Caught by Boult!! Is this the game for New Zealand? I think so. Timely wicket and Williamson is a delighted man. Slower delivery from Elliott, Kulasekara heaves it. Gets the elevation but no timing whatsoever. Ball swirls high in the air towards Boult at deep mid-wicket who steadies himself and accepts it gleefully. N Kulasekara c Boult b Elliott 14(10) [6s-1]

19.2 - Elliott to Kapugedera, leg byes, 1 run, floated around off, Kapugedera tries to work it into the leg-side, in fact he was looking to sweep I reckon. Beaten by the slowness of the delivery, gets hit on the pad but the impact was well outside off and an easy call for the umpire

19.1 - Elliott to Kapugedera, 2 runs, loopy delivery outside off, Kapugedera slices the drive over cover. Cries of catch but it landed safely and Kapugedera hares back for a couple

18.6 - McClenaghan to Kapugedera, leg byes, 1 run, slower full toss, Kapugedera tries to slog but fails to make any connection. He was slammed high on the pad and the ball rolled towards backward point, no real appeal as the impact was outside off

18.5 - McClenaghan to N Kulasekara, 1 run, another one full and on the stumps, Kulasekara could only get a single this time, down to long-on again

18.4 - McClenaghan to N Kulasekara, 2 runs, slog, slog, slog - that's how Kulasekara's mind reads right now. He is hitting the ball hard and this time he biffs the drive towards long-on. Calls for a risky second and Kapugedera had to dive to make his ground, the throw was a poor one though

18.3 - McClenaghan to N Kulasekara, no run, dug in short and angled across, Kulasekara was ages early on the pull, could only connect with fresh air

18.2 - McClenaghan to Kapugedera, 1 run, keeps it on and around leg-stump, Kapugedera tries to flick it fine, couldn't get it as fine as he would have liked, finds fine leg to perfection

17.4 - Ish Sodhi to N Kulasekara, SIX, that's nailed! Right out of the screws. Goes deep inside the crease and smashes this flighted delivery high and sailing over deep mid-wicket fence. The fielder tried to grab it aerially but it was always going over him, commendable effort though

Slower length delivery on the stumps. Siriwardana pulls sans any timing. Deep square leg runs to his right, covers good ground and slides to claim a well-judged catch. 1.1 - Boult to Dilshan, out Caught by Ronchi!! Unlucky! This is a huge wicket for New Zealand. Dilshan walks back for nought. It was a loosener from Boult, well down leg, Dilshan did well to reach it, gets a fine tickle to the left of Ronchi, who moves across, dives forward and pouches it inches from the ground. The umpire knew there was some wood on that, but just wanted to check if it was taken cleanly and the third umpire helped him out with that. Dilshan c Ronchi b Boult 0(1)

Boult to Dilshan, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

Has Dilshan been strangled down leg? The umpires are checking whether Ronchi took a clean catch. The soft signal is OUT. It is a legal delivery. It went straight into Ronchi's mitts. Yes, he is gone.

Trent Boult, left-arm fast medium, comes into the attack
