The Black Caps got off to a blazing start last time around but this time they will open without Brendon McCullum. Chameera has the ball in his hand. Here we go...

One would have hoped for the Sri Lankans to learn from their mistakes in the previous game, but they have been very poor with the bat once again. They started off positively but lost three wickets in quick succession. Chandimal and Mathews hung around for just a little while, before they both got out in the space of 8 balls. In fact, the highest individual score for Sri Lanka belongs to Kulasekara, whose score of 19 at least took the visitors past the total of 100. While Henry picked 4 wickets, McClenaghan finished with 3. It should be another straightforward chase for the Black Caps. Join us in just a short while to catch all the action from that innings.

27.4 - Matt Henry to N Kulasekara, out Caught by Latham!! The final nail in the coffin for the visitors and it's another good catch from a fielder. This was a length delivery on the stumps, Kulasekara backs away and looks to go over cover, doesn't get the required elevation on the lofted drive, Latham at short cover jumps high and takes a good catch with both hands. The ball was travelling there but he managed to hold on. Henry once again has 4 wickets to his name. N Kulasekara c Latham b Matt Henry 19(24) [4s-3]

22.6 - Ish Sodhi to Dushmantha Chameera, out Caught by Ronchi!! Nine wickets down are the Sri Lankans now. Nothing but a flatter delivery that spins away outside off, Chameera was pushing at it away from his body, manages to get a very faint edge and Ronchi did extremely well to caught it. Frankly speaking, not a lot of people thought that was out but Ronchi was sure about it. Taylor reviewed and much to the delight of the Kiwi fans, the onfield decision was overturned for the second time in this over, this time in their favour. Dushmantha Chameera c Ronchi b Ish Sodhi 9(12) [4s-1]

Ish Sodhi to Dushmantha Chameera, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

New Zealand are appealing for a caught behind. The umpire is not happy but the Black Caps have decided to review this. Has he got a feather here? Yes, he has. HotSpot shows that there was a feather. The onfield call has been overturned

22.5 - Ish Sodhi to N Kulasekara, 1 run, works this through mid-wicket for a single

22.4 - Ish Sodhi to N Kulasekara, no run, this one skids on around the off stump, Kulasekara was looking to defend but misses the ball, there was a loud appeal and the umpire gave it out immediately. The decision was reviewed and it was overturned after Hawk-Eye showed that the impact was outside off

Kulasekara has been given out lbw. He has decided to review the decision. 'The bowler's front foot is fine. Can you show me the leg-side HotSpot. Can you show me RTS as well? Yes, I'm fine with that. Show me ball tracking and the impact is outside off,' says third umpire Gough. The onfield decision has been changed and Kula stays

22.3 - Ish Sodhi to Dushmantha Chameera, 1 run

22.2 - Ish Sodhi to N Kulasekara, 1 run, another one that's short and on the stumps, Kulasekara pulls it through square leg for a single

22.1 - Ish Sodhi to N Kulasekara, no run, starts off with a poor delivery, short and well down the leg-side. Kulasekara probably got some bat on it as he went for the pull but the keeper was in the ball's way. Expecting him to catch that is probably asking a little too much of him

18.6 - McClenaghan to N Kulasekara, out Kapugedera Run Out!! What is happening out there? Poor cricket from the Sri Lankans. Both the batsmen were ball watching and that has brought another wicket for New Zealand. Kulasekara dabs this short of length delivery late behind square on the off-side, Guptill at backward point dives across to his left and makes a good stop. Kapugedera was running towards the non-striker's end without looking at his partner, Guptill flicks the ball towards the striker's end as Kulasekara had to quickly make his way back in. Even though he got in, Kapugedera was almost at the other end by then, the fielder at mid-wicket collects the ball and throws it towards the fielder at the non-striker's end, who disturbs the stumps to catch Kapugedera short. Bracewell was getting the ball to shape back in and that's been the undoing for Chandimal. He comes across to this length delivery shaping back in on middle stump and fails to work it away, wears it on the pad and the umpire's finger went up in a flash. That looked plumb to the naked eye. 8.5 - McClenaghan to Chandimal, no run, a loud shout of 'No' as Chandimal pushes this short of length delivery in front of cover. Mathews was out of his crease in search of a single and had to rush back. The fielder fires a direct-hit at the striker's end but Mathews was well home by then

8.4 - McClenaghan to Chandimal, 2 runs, just short of a good length and outside off, Chandimal punches it through the cover region and the batsmen have ample time to take a brace

For now it's time to bid adieu. On behalf of my scorer Mani, this is Sidhant Maheshwari, signing off. Take care folks.

New Zealand have been ruthless so far. Sri Lanka will have their task cut out when these two sides meet next at Nelson on New Year's eve. A loss there and the series will be gone. The Black Caps though will look to make it three out of three. Don't forget to join us then to catch all the fun from that game.

Martin Guptill is the Man of the Match for his 30-ball 93

One would have hoped for the Sri Lankans to do better after Angelo Mathews won the toss and opted to bat. However, their performance was even worse than the first game, getting bowled out for a paltry 117. Even though Brendon McCullum couldn't come out to open because of a back issue, Guptill never allowed anyone to miss him. The ball was flying all around as he smashed 9 fours and 8 sixes in his 30-ball 93. He narrowly missed out on the fastest ODI fifty record, but at least he has the national record to his name now.

I will mention this again, it's a shame that New Zealand didn't have enough runs to chase for Martin Guptill to get to his ton, one that he surely deserved. What a fantastic knock, definitely got the crowd's money worth. Today, the entire game lasted just 36 overs, such has been the plight of the Lankans. Martin Guptill walks off to a rousing applause from the crowd as well as his team-mates. The Black Caps just needed 50 legal balls to get to their target.
