Due to some technical problems, we are unable to cover live matches on our site and app. We are working on it and will be back soon. Please stay tuned for more.

Kohli and his boys form a huddle near the boundary. The South African openers pass them and make their way out to the middle. The Indians break out of the huddle. Ishant and Rohit seem pretty intense as they walk towards the pitch. In fact, Ishant takes his hat off and hands it to the umpire. So he will open with one spinner from the other end. I hope the ploy is not just bang the ball halfway down the pitch and scuff it up. Anyway, let's wait and watch... Two slips and a gully for him.

South Africa will have to negotiate 9 overs before the end of the day's play on Day 1 and it is highly likely that Kohli will employ spinners at both ends straightaway. So how will the Proteas approach this tricky little phase? Take a break and join us back in a short while for South Africa's reply.

South Africa look happy as they walk back, but mind you, India have got a decent score on the board. 215 is not a bad score on this surface and in fact this is the highest team total so far in the series. Just two partnerships for India, one right at the start between Vijay and Dhawan and then one between Jadeja and Saha in the lower middle-order. Vijay, Jadeja and Saha made substantial contributions to push the total past 200. Morne Morkel was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, but the fact that he walked off the field while bowling his 24th over will worry them. Harmer too was impressive.

78.2 - Harmer to Mishra, out Lbw!! That's plumb in front and India are all-out for 215. Flatter in trajectory and Mishra thought he can play off the back foot, but it kept low and sneaked under the bat to strike Mishra plumb in front. Harmer finishes with 4 wickets. Mishra lbw b Harmer 3(9)

Harmer to Mishra, THAT'S OUT!! Lbw!!

78.1 - Harmer to Mishra, no run, round the wicket, flighted delivery just outside off stump, Mishra tries to defend, misses, the ball goes to slip off the pad

Ishant Sharma, right handed bat, comes to the crease

77.6 - Tahir to Ashwin, out Bowled!! Finally Tahir gets his name into the wickets column. Googly starting outside off stump, Ashwin picked it and tried to work it towards mid-wicket with the turn, but he played a touch outside the line and missed it completely. The ball crashed into the off stump. End of a handy innings from Ashwin. Ashwin b Tahir 15(44) [4s-1]

Tahir to Ashwin, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

77.5 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, nice shot but it's AB de Villiers again, who makes an excellent stop and saves at least two runs. Mishra was backing up a long way, AB thought about having a shy at the bowler's end but didn't. It would have been very interesting had he released the ball

77.4 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, very full and just outside off stump, Ashwin drives it back to the bowler

77.3 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, flighted delivery outside off stump, ignored

77.2 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, another leading edge as Ashwin tries to drive towards mid-on, luckily the edge wasn't thick enough to carry to Tahir

77.1 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, Ashwin hangs back and cuts the googly very late, but it goes straight to backward point

76.6 - Harmer to Mishra, no run, flighted delivery on the stumps, Mishra defends it into the on-side

76.5 - Harmer to Mishra, no run, Mishra tries to play a watchful glance, but the ball spins too much and rolls to leg slip off the pad

76.4 - Harmer to Ashwin, 1 run, way too short, not much of bounce as well, Ashwin tucks it through backward square leg for a single

76.3 - Harmer to Ashwin, no run, on the stumps, blocked

76.2 - Harmer to Mishra, 1 run, very full and just outside off stump, Mishra opts for the reverse-sweep, only manages to toe-end it to extra-cover

76.1 - Harmer to Mishra, no run, Mishra advances and tries to push it to cover off the front foot, the inside edge rolls to short leg

Just 4 overs to go before the second new ball becomes available, but the umpires aren't happy with the one right now and decide to change it. Meanwhile, the floodlights have been switched on. There's quite a bit of natural light though.

Shirin Sadikot has tweeted that there's nothing serious for Morkel and he's off the field as a precautionary measure - he felt something in his leg after completing his delivery stride.

Ashwin 14(36) Mishra 2(3) Tahir 11-0-41-0

75.6 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, "caaaaatch it" is the call, but it drops short of the diving Tahir. Almost a yorker, Ashwin was on the walk as he tried to dig it out, the leading edge flew to the left of the bowler. Tahir was a little slow to react, a better effort from him could have seen the back of Ashwin

75.5 - Tahir to Mishra, 1 run, as expected, Mishra slogs across the line, this was the googly and it rolls along the ground through square leg off the toe-end of the bat

75.4 - Tahir to Ashwin, 1 run, googly again and the cut shot again, this time past the diving fielder at backward point, there is a man in the deep and it's only a single

75.3 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, the googly again, Ashwin opts for a cut, he's cramped for room and he chops it towards point

75.2 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, shortish and outside off stump, Ashwin cuts and misses

75.1 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, flighted delivery from Tahir, Ashwin defends

Over: 75 0 0 0 4 0 3B IND 211/8
Ashwin 13(31) Mishra 1(2) Harmer 26-2-76-3

74.6 - Harmer to Ashwin, byes, 3 runs, stumping chance missed, but there was too much turn. Really tough one for the keeper, especially with the batsman blinding him. Ashwin raced out of his crease and then tried to defend, the ball turned square and went through the gate, Vilas was late to react and only managed to get a glove on it, leg slip gives chase and hunts it down to save one run. Actually, that wasn't too far away from brushing the off stump as well

74.5 - Harmer to Ashwin, no run, shortish and keeping low, Ashwin just about manages to defend it into the on-side

74.4 - Harmer to Ashwin, FOUR, that's a lovely shot from Ashwin. Too full from Harmer this time, Ashwin waits for the ball to come and drives it nicely from the middle of the bat to the left of the man at mid-off

74.3 - Harmer to Ashwin, no run, Ashwin steps out again, tries to defend, gets hit on the pad, half-shout for LBW, but the umpire wasn't interested as the batsman was a long way out of his crease

74.2 - Harmer to Ashwin, no run, almost a repeat of the previous ball, padded into the off-side

74.1 - Harmer to Ashwin, no run, flighted delivery outside off stump, Ashwin steps out, but realises that he's not to the pitch of the ball and kicks it away

73.6 - Tahir to Mishra, no run, well tossed up outside off, Mishra is not to be tempted though

73.5 - Tahir to Ashwin, 1 run, shortish on off, Ashwin softly whips it through mid-wicket

73.4 - Tahir to Mishra, 1 run, hangs it in the air, asking Mishra to show what he's got. Mishra is clever. Just knocks it down to long-off and moves to the other end

73.3 - Tahir to Ashwin, 1 run, flatter, shorter, spinning away wider, tapped through the cover region from the crease

73.2 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, much fuller, smothers the turn and whips it to mid-on

73.1 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, turning away profusely from off, Ashwin has no chance of meeting with the prod

Amit Mishra, right handed bat, comes to the crease

That's drinks as well. India have crawled over the 200-run mark. They were around 50 shy of this at Tea with only the lower order in. And Saha of course. And will be fairly happy with the goings-on. Jadeja played a vital counter-attacking hand brandishing his bat like a Samurai warrior. And Saha stood firm. Both gone now and SA have an opening

W Saha 32(106) Ashwin 7(21) Harmer 25-2-72-3

72.6 - Harmer to W Saha, out Caught by Duminy!! South Africa badly needed this. They were looking listless in the past 15-20 minutes. And it takes a special effort from Duminy to pull it off. Tossed up on the middle stump line, dips on Saha who was advancing to flick it away, means that he is nowhere near the pitch of the ball. Hits him high on the bat and spoons to the left of short mid-wicket. Saha must have felt he's fairly safe. But that's before he saw Duminy flying across. Stretching both his arms while in the air and plucks it out of nowhere. W Saha c Duminy b Harmer 32(106) [4s-4]

Harmer to W Saha, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

72.5 - Harmer to W Saha, no run, slightly left overbalanced with his stride across. Manages to bring his bat down straight though and blocks

72.4 - Harmer to W Saha, no run, works this with the turn towards short mid-wicket

72.3 - Harmer to W Saha, no run, drifting across off and turning in, Saha is cautious on the front foot

72.2 - Harmer to W Saha, FOUR, Harmer's fingers are tiring is my deduction. Too many looseners now. This one is a full toss drifting across off. Cover region is vacant. Thanksgiving came a day early. Driven away

72.1 - Harmer to W Saha, no run, sharp turn from outside off, cramps Saha badly for room despite him backing away to play the punch through cover. Ends up getting a thick edge which dies to the right of slip. The fielder dives and stops

Over: 72 0 1 0 1 0 0 IND 197/7

71.6 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, more air given on this, lands on a length on off, Ashwin blocks with bat and pad close

71.5 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, the original intention was to advance, sees the length is short despite a loopy trajectory. Ensures that the back foot stays rooted and looks to dab. Bounces over the top-edge

71.4 - Tahir to W Saha, 1 run, runs down the track and takes it on the full, can't pierce mid-off with a drive

71.3 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, floated up on off, Saha blocks it into the off-side after a big stride forward

71.2 - Tahir to Ashwin, 1 run, the wrong 'un but the line gives it away. Well outside off. Ashwin makes room and chops it in front of cover

71.1 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, ventures down, and wrists it to short mid-wicket

Over: 71 0 1 0 4B 0 0 IND 195/7

70.6 - Harmer to W Saha, no run, now if he has to bowl the straight lines, better off from this angle - round the wicket. Grips from a length on middle, catches the inside edge of Saha's lunge onto pad. But pops up right down the pitch well short of the bowler

70.5 - Harmer to W Saha, no run, Harmer's line is too straight in my humble opinion. Turns sharply from middle, Saha plays the nudge with soft hands and drops it in front of leg-slip

70.4 - Harmer to W Saha, byes, FOUR, nah. Very, very poor. Darted it down the leg-side. And turns further and further away. Now what can poor Vilas do. Tries his best but can't even get a glove

70.3 - Harmer to W Saha, no run, too full, wristed to the left of short mid-wicket. The fielder sprints across and tumbles to stop

70.2 - Harmer to Ashwin, 1 run, uses his feet and taps this flighted delivery down to long-on

70.1 - Harmer to Ashwin, no run, spitting from a length on middle, Ashwin fails to connect with his glance. His gloves were close enough to draw a shout or two

Over: 70 0 0 0 0 0 4 IND 190/7
W Saha 27(94) Ashwin 5(15) Tahir 8-0-34-0

69.6 - Tahir to W Saha, FOUR, Tahir and a full toss go like butter with popcorn. Saha advances and whacks it over mid-wicket

69.5 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, Tahir is excited on this LBW shout. It did indeed look close on real-time. The wrong'un turning back in from a length outside off, Saha lunges forward but that restricts his ability to adjust to the turn. Hit on the pad. Impact? Where is it? Just marginally outside off maybe. So another good call

69.4 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, slices his drive due to the extra turn, all along the ground to cover

69.3 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, floated up on off, Saha uses his feet and drives to the right of short cover. The fielder does well to make a sliding stop

69.2 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, drifting in with the arm, lands very full on middle and leg, Saha sweeps it to short fine

Imran Tahir [8.0-0-30-0] is back into the attack

No, no, no. Tell me this is not happening. Oh it is. South Africa's tour is surely jinxed. Their pacers keep going down. Bowled that first delivery. Seemed alright. But on the walk back he turned around with hands on hips. Knew right there he had twitched something. Probably the groin. And he is limping off. Tahir to complete the over

69.1 - M Morkel to W Saha, no run, length ball straightening on off, Saha is well aware to what is going on. Allows for the movement and plays it right under the eyes

68.6 - Harmer to Ashwin, no run, a couple of strides down, knows he isn't to the pitch and just smothers it with bat and pad close

68.5 - Harmer to Ashwin, no run, shimmies down, yorks himself and turns it to short mid-wicket

68.4 - Harmer to Ashwin, no run, now the impact is outside off. Lovely bowling from Harmer. Again hoodwinking Ashwin to go back by bowling a flatter trajectory. Similarly beats him on the inside edge. But this starts from well outside off. Ashwin dragged himself outside the stumps

68.3 - Harmer to Ashwin, no run, flatter trajectory on this occasion. Duped Ashwin into playing on the back foot despite it being fairly full. Rips off the pitch beating the inside edge to strike front pad. But going down leg

68.2 - Harmer to W Saha, 1 run, now Saha does the same. Rolls his wrists profusely and flicks it through mid-wicket

68.1 - Harmer to Ashwin, 1 run, he just loves coming down doesn't he. Allows him to get close to the ball and work it down to long-on

A slip, leg-slip and FSL in place for the offie

W Saha 22(87) Ashwin 4(10) Rabada 17-8-30-1

67.6 - Rabada to W Saha, no run, movement away in the corridor outside off, Saha sees it and then holds his arms nice and high

67.5 - Rabada to W Saha, no run, overpitched and dipping in on off, Saha jams the drive towards short extra-cover

67.4 - Rabada to Ashwin, 3 runs, Rabada keeps hitting that back of a length. Not working. Although it nips away outside off, Ashwin has surplus time on the back foot. Stands tall and punches it through the cover region. The outfield is quick but not as much as some of the others in this country. Hounded down

67.3 - Rabada to Ashwin, no run, length ball on middle and leg, a bit too cautious from Ashwin perhaps? Could have easily flicked it away. Chooses to defend with a straight bat

67.2 - Rabada to Ashwin, no run, 'c'mon fiddle with it' says Rabada with a length delivery holding its line outside off, Ashwin leaves the heck alone out of it

67.1 - Rabada to Ashwin, no run, swirling back in on off on a length, Ashwin brings those wrists of his in play and works it to mid-on

Over: 67 0 1 2 0 0 0 IND 181/7
W Saha 22(85) Ashwin 1(6) Tahir 8-0-30-0

66.6 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, skips down the track, Tahir cleverly fires it on his pads. Saha nearly falls over but somehow manages to work it to mid-on

66.5 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, slightly short, Saha assumes that there is enough width. But not the case. Chops his cut to cover

66.4 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, turning away from a length on off, knocks it flat-footed into the off-side

66.3 - Tahir to W Saha, 2 runs, the googly. Turning in from outside off. Saha is back into the crease and taps it on it's head at the last moment to send it behind backward point. Didn't find a lot of power behind the shot as there wasn't much pace on the ball

66.2 - Tahir to Ashwin, 1 run, not much air again, shortish too, Ashwin waits on the crease and pats it through the vacant point region

66.1 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, flatter delivery on middle, turned to FSL

Over: 66 0 0 0 0 4B 0 IND 178/7
W Saha 20(81) Ashwin 0(4) Rabada 16-8-27-1

65.6 - Rabada to W Saha, no run, full outside off, driven towards cover

65.5 - Rabada to W Saha, byes, FOUR, now Vilas is being put through the grind. Was fairly decent in the first two sessions. But now the fatigue is showing. First up, it was a poor delivery. Well down leg. He moves across and tumbles but the ball sneaks through

65.4 - Rabada to W Saha, no run, length ball angled in on middle, blocked into the leg-side

65.3 - Rabada to W Saha, no run, bouncer on the stumps. As Sanjay Manjrekar earlier said, it's like bowling into a sandpit. Takes away all the pace from the delivery. Loops over Saha's head as he was trying to pull. Too much height for him to manage a connection

65.2 - Rabada to W Saha, no run, Rabada is down on his followthrough. And Saha's defence goes right towards him. Manages to protect his head with his hands

65.1 - Rabada to W Saha, no run, consistent seam movement. Veers away from a back of a length outside off, Saha is opened up and beaten on the edge

Over: 65 0 1 0 0 0 0 IND 174/7
Ashwin 0(4) W Saha 20(75) Tahir 7-0-27-0

64.6 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, much slower. Tossed up on a length, Ashwin gives it the respect it deserves

64.5 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, flatter trajectory on off, Ashwin forces it off the back foot into the off-side

64.4 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, again uses his feet but throws his cards too early. The ball kicks and bites from a length leaving Ashwin marooned. Looks like Vilas is a bit slow to whip the bails off. Rarely does a batsman make it back otherwise

Ah, so Amla knows better than me for sure. But has Ashwin managed to plonk his bat back in time? Indeed. How on Earth did he manage that. NOT OUT it is

64.3 - Tahir to Ashwin, no run, sees the flight and advances, but didn't read the googly. He was nowhere near the ball with his rushed defence and lucky to get some inside edge onto pad, which doesn't carry to short leg

64.2 - Tahir to W Saha, 1 run, how come Amla hasn't had enough of Tahir already. Full toss offered, driven down to long-off

64.1 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, quicker and flatter on off, Saha is circumspectly forward to defend. Not much turn for Tahir which is quite discernible

63.6 - Rabada to Ravindra Jadeja, out Bowled!! That's an appalling stroke. If it can be called as a stroke even. Sees the length, sees the width, and just loses his mind. Aims an expansive windy woof through the covers. Hurls the bat towards the ball, chops it back onto the stumps off the inside edge, and hurls himself back to the dressing room. Ravindra Jadeja b Rabada 34(54) [4s-6]

Rabada to Ravindra Jadeja, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

63.5 - Rabada to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, and now he is literally walking down. Length ball nipping back in from the fourth stump, he is beaten for pace and late to get the bat down. Hit on the back pad but manages to haul himself outside the line of off

63.4 - Rabada to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, an appeal for LBW which dies down quickly. Yeah, inside edge there. Bending back in on leg from a length, Jadeja just about sneak in a feather on the flick

63.3 - Rabada to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, hooping back in ever so slightly from outside off, cramping Jadeja for room on the cut. Mistimes it to point

63.2 - Rabada to W Saha, 1 run, edged and has that been put down? Oh yes. Oh yes. Vilas got his right glove underneath the ball but just couldn't hang on. Shaping away on a back of a length wide of off, Saha punches away from his body. Loose shot and finds the edge. Was always dipping on the keeper. But he did the tough part diving across. Just slips out of the fingers

62.6 - Tahir to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, short and quick, kicks and bites off the turf. Jadeja shapes to cut but the ball keeps following him. Drops it down on the pitch in the end. And wait a minute. Imparted enough back-spin for the ball to roll back. But was wide of leg-stump

62.5 - Tahir to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, again, just stomps his leg forward to defend. Much better off knocking the leather off it. This he does get in the middle

62.4 - Tahir to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, he gets one right out of four. Which is an appalling rate. Well looped up on off, Jadeja offers a plonky front foot defence but is beaten by the turn and struck on the pad. Easily going down the leg-stump of another set of stumps also

62.3 - Tahir to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, low loopy full toss on leg, Jadeja meekly clips it away to short mid-wicket

62.2 - Tahir to W Saha, 1 run, there it is. The release ball. Short and wide, cut away to deep point

62.1 - Tahir to Ravindra Jadeja, 1 run, and nearly the new angle pays off. Fired in the googly on leg, Jadeja tries to flick it away playing for the angle. The ball straightens a touch and that is enough to find the leading edge. Falls in front of the diving short mid-wicket and then the ball eludes AB. AB did his best there, but the ball fell well in front of him

61.5 - Rabada to W Saha, no run, swinging away on the fifth-sixth stump, Saha doesn't grope at it

61.5 - Rabada to W Saha, wide, a wild, wild delivery. Well outside off and swinging away even further. Vilas had his task cut out and did so well to stop

60.5 - Tahir to Ravindra Jadeja, 1 run, just not happening for Tahir. Flighted full toss on off, bunted down to long-on

60.4 - Tahir to W Saha, 1 run, driven to short extra-cover, de Villiers tries a cute back hand flick at the non-striker's end. Tahir didn't find it that cute. Needless overthrow

60.3 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, flatter and quicker, short as well, turns after pitching on leg. Saha is waiting on the back foot, covers for the turn and defends

60.2 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, now the googly. Slightly short and turning in from outside off, Saha doesn't have the swinging room for the cut. So instead, dabs it to backward point

59.5 - M Morkel to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, straight lines, on a length, Jadeja closes the bat face on impact to direct his defence to mid-wicket

59.4 - M Morkel to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, full delivery down the leg-side. Jadeja strangely leaves it rather than seeing it as a boundary opportunity

58.3 - Tahir to W Saha, 1 run, looped up on off, Saha preempts a hack down to fine leg. Was too full for it. Ends up jamming it off the toe-end in front of mid-wicket

58.2 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, shimmies down the track and squeezes it into the off-side

58.1 - Tahir to W Saha, no run, that's better. Quicker through the air, drifts in with the arm pitching on a length in line of off, turns away beating the edge of Saha's defensive prod

57.6 - M Morkel to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, overpitching outside off, Jadeja clutches his hands hard and looks to hammer the drive. Mistimes it off the toe end towards mid-off

57.5 - M Morkel to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, no. Trying for a double bluff. No duping Jadeja though. Full on off, blocked to cover with a big stride

Square leg is being hurled back to the deep. Smell the leather time?

57.4 - M Morkel to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, a gutter-ball. Too far down leg. Can't reach out with his flick

57.3 - M Morkel to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, Morkel has pulled his length back with the last two deliveries in response to that sledgehammer. Again behind a length on off, Jadeja has no problems guarding it on the back foot

57.2 - M Morkel to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, nips back in slightly from a back of a length on leg, Jadeja falls over on the flick and wears it on the thigh pad

57.1 - M Morkel to Ravindra Jadeja, FOUR, oh my. The conditions are completely different but this has shades of Lord's 2014. Jadeja and a counter-attack. Anything in his half will go. Pitched up outside off, Jadeja clears his front leg and biffs it straight back over the bowler's head. Morkel thought about sticking his arm out but then he doesn't want to lose it

56.6 - Tahir to Ravindra Jadeja, 1 run, lunges forward to meet the pitch and milks a single down to long-on

56.5 - Tahir to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, now goes right back. Good assured footwork. Flatter trajectory on the leg-break, he allows it to turn and gets right behind the line

56.4 - Tahir to Ravindra Jadeja, no run, turning in after pitching on a length outside off, Jadeja gets really low in his defence but the ball was outside his defensive reach. Turns and hits high on the inside edge before rolling to the left of FSL

56.3 - Tahir to W Saha, 1 run, low full toss just outside off, pushed wide of mid-on

56.2 - Tahir to W Saha, FOUR, and this is why he's not being bowled more. Right this. Floated up on the stumps, Saha meets it on the full and sweeps it over mid-wicket

56.1 - Tahir to Ravindra Jadeja, 1 run, tossed up leg-break drifting away outside off, Jadeja bunts it down to long-on with a big stride across

Imran Tahir [2.0-0-12-0] is back into the attack

Okay, so Tahir's warmup actually meant something. Here he is. One slip and a short leg

55.6 - M Morkel to W Saha, no run, fraction full outside off, pushed to cover

55.5 - M Morkel to W Saha, no run, pad and then bat. Morkel goes up in a big way. But Oxenford doesn't show a tenth of that enthusiasm. Pitched up and tailing back in, Saha's bat comes down at an angle looking to work it away through the on-side. It's path is blocked by the pad. But comfortably going down leg

55.4 - M Morkel to W Saha, no run, slightly different action from Morkel and also bowled it from closer to the stumps. Holds its line in the iffy channel outside off. Saha had to play at it but is flummoxed by the movement and beaten on the edge

55.3 - M Morkel to W Saha, no run, length ball, nagging line, 136.8ks, goes on straight off the deck and traces the centre of Saha's defensive prod

55.2 - M Morkel to W Saha, no run, fuller and homing in on off, forward and blocked

55.1 - M Morkel to W Saha, no run, threatens to shape away on a length on off, Saha is slightly opened up and awkwardly pushes it on the walk to mid-on

And we are back to the minefield..Imran Tahir is rehearsing his action near the boundary ropes. All by himself and some member of the support staff. Out come the umpires. Right then, these pitches certainly make for some intriguing cricket and manage to keep the fans glued. But certainly don't help the administrators. What with 2-3 day Tests. Okay, so the players are ambling to the centre. Morkel it will be to start off..

Before getting caught at leg slip, Rohit Sharma looked out of sorts during his 28-ball two at the same venue he missed his debut in 2010. Saha, coming in at No. 7 today, looked unsettled, with Rabada particularly troubling him outside his off-stump. Ravindra Jadeja has probably looked the best today and is perhaps yet again in the middle of a crucial innings that can take India to a score of respectability. Tahir was a session-passenger and wasn't even called on to bowl. That on a pitch which is turning square. Join us at 14:30 local time to see if India are able to bat through the day.

Tea, Day 1: Morne Morkel ensured that South Africa didn't miss Dale Steyn much as he ripped through India's middle order with a nasty spell of bowling. Aided by prodigious reverse swing and unpredictable bounce, he kept the batsman tentative in their defences by bowling a length much fuller than the morning session. Virat Kohli perished yet again to a wide dangler outside off while Rahane continued his poor home-run by attempting a flashy drive only to be bowled through the gate. Simon Harmer locked one end and consumed the big wickets of Pujara and Rohit in the process.
