Due to some technical problems, we are unable to cover live matches on our site and app. We are working on it and will be back soon. Please stay tuned for more.

We are ready to go again. GUJ's swashbuckling duo of Smith and McCullum are out in the middle. The pair are known for playing with a dash of royal flourish. Sandeep Sharma needs to be on the money. If not, McCullum and Smith will explore every nook and cranny of the ground. McCullum seemed to be troubled by a back problem in GUJ's last game. Interesting to see whether that will restrict his footwork.

Faulkner: "Yeah what you usually expect in a day game and it is tough (talking about the heat). We have done half of the job. We have to finish well. We did well as a group and restricted them to under 160 on a good wicket. Hopefully, our top-order can do well and can get the job done."

Murali Vijay, Punjab's 9th captain in as many T20 League editions, celebrated his (sudden) coronation with a swift half-century, PUN's fifth of this season. The start falsely promised ambition, but not without reason, given the score read 59/0 at the end of the powerplay. But beginner's luck often precedes infidelity. Now deserted, Punjab immediately lost Stoinis - the opener preferred over Manan. Shivil then nabbed Marsh to resurrect the Fault In His Stars (remember THAT no ball to Steven Smith?) and Gurkeerat Singh's soft urgency saw him run out. A similar malaise was back, and with Vijay gone too, Miller and Saha had to take over. Miller though perished, and his 27-ball 31 suggested that his form wasn't quite there, along with certainly the captaincy now. Join us for what will be a quick chase if you-know-who decide to wield their bats!

19.5 - P Kumar to Cariappa, out Bowled!! PUN have yet again slipped after what was a brisk start given by the openers. This has been PUN's story throughout the season. The razor sharp yorker and zeroing in on the stumps, Cariappa aims for a wild slog across the line and misses. His middle-stump goes for a walk in the park. Cariappa b P Kumar 1(3)

P Kumar to Cariappa, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

19.4 - P Kumar to Sandeep Sharma, 1 run, another off-pace ball from Praveen, pushed to silly mid-off

Sandeep Sharma, right handed bat, comes to the crease

19.3 - P Kumar to Mohit Sharma, out Bowled!! Can you believe it? This is Praveen's first scalp of T20 League 2016. He has bowled with penetration, but that is not showing in the wicket column. Sharma charges down the track and tries a wild swing across the line to a slower one and is castled. The middle-stump took a knocking. Mohit Sharma b P Kumar 1(2)

P Kumar to Mohit Sharma, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

19.2 - P Kumar to Cariappa, 1 run, from round the wicket and wide of the crease, Praveen bowls it full and straight, Cariappa push-drives it down the ground and Praveen parries it to mid-off with a boot

18.5 - Dwayne Bravo to W Saha, out Bowled!! How many times does Bravo bamboozle the opposition ranks with these slow in-dipping yorkers? He is an irresistible force in this format. Saha tries to slog a slow yorker, misses and his stumps take a beating. W Saha b Dwayne Bravo 33(19) [4s-4]

Dwayne Bravo to W Saha, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

18.4 - Dwayne Bravo to W Saha, 2 runs, yet another slower one from Bravo, worked to deep mid-wicket for a brace

Mohit Sharma, right handed bat, comes to the crease

18.2 - Dwayne Bravo to Axar, out Caught by Ishan Kishan!! Kishan has grabbed an exemplary catch at mid-wicket. The off-pace delivery and zooming in on the stumps, Patel lifts it to Kishan at mid-wicket, who runs to his right, keeps his eyes on the ball and snaffles it with his left-hand at head height. 17.6 - D Kulkarni to W Saha, 2 runs, well, Kaushik, even in the last game, showed that he is not that sharp in the field. Here too, he was late in getting to the ball. Saha scoops a fullish delivery, Kaushik is slightly late to run across to his left from short fine and the ball bounces over him. Faulkner in the deep runs around the circumference and puts in a dive to save two runs for his team

17.5 - D Kulkarni to W Saha, 2 runs, a tad fuller from Kulkarni, Saha makes room and upper-cuts it to sweeper cover for a couple

17.4 - D Kulkarni to W Saha, 2 runs, this time, Saha whips it to deep mid-wicket and nabs a duece

17.3 - D Kulkarni to W Saha, no run, back of a length delivery and on the stumps, Saha mistimes the tuck back down the pitch

The slower one that is bowled just outside off, Miller backs away and attempts to lift it over the fielder at long-on, but does not get the timing. His bottom hand comes off the bat handle. A tad fuller and outside off, Miller flashes it to deep backward point, who swoops down on the ball quickly and rifles in a throw at the batsman's end, but Miller was quick to dive and got back in easily. The third umpire confirmed the same

The TV umpire has been beckoned for a run-out. The batsman in question is Miller. I think the dive has saved him. Yes, I can see that he is safe and he can resume his innings

Another delivery which is darted in flat outside off, only slightly short and not a lot of width either. Vijay slides back in the crease and cuts it very late. As late as it was physically possible and sends it very fine. Finer than he would have wanted owing to a semblance of a thick outside edge. But he did most things right with that

0.3 - P Kumar to Vijay, FOUR, that gives a first indication of this pitch, and it's a good one. Back of a length outside off, Vijay languidly moves forward - not a big stride - and drives it on the up through the covers. Smooth

0.2 - P Kumar to Vijay, no run, tries to explore the off-side after plonking his foot across to drive, but squirts it off a thick inside edge to square leg

0.1 - P Kumar to Vijay, no run, wobbles one up there straight up. Swings away a shade but it's too wide outside off to entice Vijay. Left alone

Vijay and Stoinis are at the crease. Vijay is on strike. P Kumar will open the attack

Labour day will always be etched in the memory of Axar Patel. That briefly sums it up. Won't take much of your time. This is it from the troika of Abhishek Chaudhary, Sagar Chawla and Bharath Ramaraj. Dare we forget our superfast scorer Venkatesh. Hop tabs to see what the folks have for you in the second match of the day. Until then, bye. Take care

Presentations: We will update this page with quotes if and when it is televised. What we know is that Axar Patel is the Man of the Match for his bowling figures of 4-0-21-4

The chase never got going, never..... After Mohit Sharma struck in successive overs to dismiss B-MAC and Raina, Gujarat committed a kamikaze. Axar Patel came in and hat-trick(ed) DK, DJ and RJ before dismissing a dangerous looking Dwayne Smith. Ishan Kishan, James Faulkner could only drag the embarrassment till the final over, only to fall short of 23 runs. By and large, it turned out to be a dream day for Axar Patel who arm-balled the Lions in their own den. Change of skip. and change of fortunes...add in your favorite cliches folks

19.6 - Sandeep Sharma to D Kulkarni, 2 runs, Punjab win. Change of captaincy has worked. Slower delivery and Kulkarni waits for it, drills it to long-off for a couple of runs

19.5 - Sandeep Sharma to D Kulkarni, 2 runs, short and wide. But too late to make use of it, cuts over backward point

19.4 - Sandeep Sharma to D Kulkarni, 2 runs, steers this slower delivery outside off to third man. The fielder there dived to his left and kept it down to two

19.3 - Sandeep Sharma to D Kulkarni, no run, drives this fullish ball towards mid-off

Shivil Kaushik, right handed bat, comes to the crease

19.2 - Sandeep Sharma to Faulkner, out Caught by D Miller!! And with this wicket, Gujarat's hopes are dead. Faulkner wants to clear long-on on the slower delivery. Ended up hitting it straight to long-on. A full toss this was. Faulkner c D Miller b Sandeep Sharma 32(27) [4s-3]

18.6 - Mohit Sharma to P Kumar, out Caught by Cariappa!! Softer than a snowflake. Mohit followed Kumar this time with this slower delivery. Kumar tried to steer it past short third man. Had no pace to work with it and ended up handing a simple catch to the man who had dropped him previously in the same over. P Kumar c Cariappa b Mohit Sharma 15(13) [4s-2]

Mohit Sharma to P Kumar, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

18.5 - Mohit Sharma to P Kumar, no run, short delivery and Kumar left his crease. In the end, he was left too far away from it, wanted to carve it away. Not happening

18.4 - Mohit Sharma to P Kumar, 2 runs, Kumar is not very fond of his crease. Dances down the track and flat bats it towards mid-wicket. Was in the air for a while but fell short of an on-rushing fielder

18.3 - Mohit Sharma to P Kumar, FOUR, not where Kumar intended but it will do. A little quicker this time, Kumar comes down and slaps it, did not get off the meat of the bat. Spliced it high towards third man, who backtracked but could not hold onto it, ended up pushing it into the third man fence instead

18.2 - Mohit Sharma to P Kumar, no run, did not go as Kumar would have planned. Slow ball and Kumar backed away to dispatch it over mid-wicket. Was beaten comprehensively. Faulkner would be itching at the other end

18.1 - Mohit Sharma to Faulkner, 1 run, I like the confidence of P Kumar. Faulkner swings this slower delivery towards mid-wicket. Wanted the second run but P Kumar denied like a confident top order batter

17.6 - Stoinis to Faulkner, byes, 1 run, slower ball and Faulkner goes for the wild swing after kneeling down. Does not connect, Saha fumbles and allows a bye

17.5 - Stoinis to P Kumar, 1 run, back of a length delivery on the hips of Kumar. Tucks uppishly towards fine leg for a single. Is it getting close? I think so, as long as Faulkner is there. Fortunately for Punjab, they do not have Ishant Sharma in their bowling ranks

17.4 - Stoinis to P Kumar, FOUR, that's cute. Full toss outside off, Kumar backs away and opens the face of the bat, keeper had no chance and the ball races away

17.3 - Stoinis to Faulkner, 1 run, slower ball and Faulkner smacks it off the toe towards long-on

17.2 - Stoinis to Faulkner, FOUR, full toss and Faulkner hoicks it to Maxi at deep mid-wicket. Maxwell went for the catch, but the ball just bounced in front and crossed the fence

17.1 - Stoinis to P Kumar, 1 run, short ball and it came quicker than Kumar has been facing so far. Pulled it off the splice towards mid-wicket. Was in the air for a while but there was no one around

16.6 - Sandeep Sharma to Faulkner, FOUR, full toss and Faulkner did not time it that well. However, the sliced attempt had enough legs to beat a chasing long-off, who ran to his left

And Sandeep was booed because he pulled out in his delivery stride. As if a bowler's life is the easiest in a T20 game

16.5 - Sandeep Sharma to P Kumar, 1 run, Kumar takes the bottom hand off the bat as he tried to smack it through the off-side, gets it towards long-on

Crowd are booing Sandeep, not fair at all

16.4 - Sandeep Sharma to P Kumar, no run, slow bumper. Kumar was early on the pull. Could have played it on the second attempt, if he tried. Keeper collects behind the stumps

16.3 - Sandeep Sharma to Faulkner, 1 run, another yorker outside off. Faulkner thuds the drive into the ground, it bounces towards the right of the bowler for a single

16.2 - Sandeep Sharma to P Kumar, 1 run, very full outside off, Kumar does a Dhoni without timing. Drills it to long-off. Heavy bottom hand and wrists on that occasion

16.1 - Sandeep Sharma to P Kumar, no run, in dipping low full toss on the stumps. Kumar is too timid to do anything with it, pushed back to the bowler

15.5 - Mohit Sharma to P Kumar, 1 run, similar to what he bowled to Faulkner. Got a bit of extra bounce this time. Kumar chopped towards point, off the inner part of the bat

15.4 - Mohit Sharma to Faulkner, 1 run, the worst thing is to get predictable. Mohit was, this time. Faulkner waited for this short slow ball and pulled to deep mid-wicket, there is protection and it saved Mohit, else it was hit really hard

15.3 - Mohit Sharma to Faulkner, 2 runs, checks the pace this time and bowls it around off. Faulkner waited for it and then cut square of the wicket on the off-side

15.2 - Mohit Sharma to Faulkner, 2 runs, fullish from Mohit again. Faulkner cracks it past him towards long-off. Mohit might have got some fingers on it to kill the pace

15.1 - Mohit Sharma to Faulkner, FOUR, Oxenford is wearing a shield. But this time his reflexes came handy. Fullish ball and Faulkner thumped it straight back over the umpire

Time for another time-out

14.5 - Stoinis to Ishan Kishan, out Ishan Kishan Run Out!! His young legs were not good enough to take on the arm of Maxi there. Drove it towards extra cover and set off. Perhaps he wanted to get Faulkner on strike. Maxi set himself and rocketed the throw to the bowler, who collected it just over the stumps to catch Kishan well short of the crease. Game over for Kishan. Played a good hand, was not enough on the day though. Ishan Kishan run out (Maxwell/Stoinis) 27(24) [4s-3]

Stoinis to Ishan Kishan, THAT'S OUT!! Run Out!!

Third umpire again. Looks close. Gone by a mile.

14.4 - Stoinis to Faulkner, 1 run, on the middle and leg stump. Faulkner hoses it down towards long-on, hit it too well. Will have to be content with a single

14.3 - Stoinis to Ishan Kishan, 1 run, slices the drive on this fuller length delivery towards extra cover

14.2 - Stoinis to Faulkner, 1 run, good length delivery around off. Faulkner waits for it and drops in front of point for a single. For how long will he wait before deciding to go after the bowlers

Equation is 72 off 35

14.1 - Stoinis to Ishan Kishan, 1 run, not the kind of sound a batsman likes off his bat. Slower delivery outside off, Kishan drives off the toes towards long-off

Marcus Stoinis [2.0-0-7-0] is back into the attack

13.6 - Axar to Faulkner, no run, Patel got some turn behind it and lured Faulkner into the drive, he was beaten and in the process dragged his back leg outside the crease. Thousands of lunges done in gym helped him get back in time

Third umpire is required again. Stumping appeal against Faulkner. Fair delivery. Has he lifted his back leg? He dragged it, looks like got it back in time. Safe.

13.5 - Axar to Ishan Kishan, 1 run, short and wide. Kishan would have wanted to cut it fine, ended up hitting it pretty square towards sweeper cover

13.4 - Axar to Ishan Kishan, 2 runs, sinks down this time and sweeps to deep backward square leg. Did well to come back for the second run. Might have hurt himself, physio is out there to take care of him. We are ready to go again. Kishan is ready in fact

13.3 - Axar to Ishan Kishan, FOUR, who would say that this guy's an U-19 cricketer. Gets into a nice position and reverse sweeps it over backward point. One bounce over the ropes

13.2 - Axar to Faulkner, 1 run, he bowls them real quick. Faulkner cannot do much and fence it towards extra cover

12.5 - Cariappa to Faulkner, 2 runs, Faulkner had to wait for it. Nudges it through mid-wicket. Saha saw the fielder was in the deep and went after it, the throw was not that great and it allowed Faulkner to get back comfortably in the end

12.4 - Cariappa to Ishan Kishan, 1 run, shows the face of the bat on this flatter delivery. Punches it to long-off for a single

12.3 - Cariappa to Ishan Kishan, FOUR, this was not a great ball and deserved it. Kishan got low and then helped it past the keeper into the fine leg fence

12.2 - Cariappa to Faulkner, 1 run, slower through the air on the stumps. Faulkner pushes wide of extra cover for a quick single

12.1 - Cariappa to Ishan Kishan, 1 run, execution was not as great as intent. Got too close to the pitch of the delivery after skipping down, drilled to long-off

11.5 - Stoinis to Ishan Kishan, no run, slower ball. Kishan defends off the splice of the bat to the left of backward point

11.4 - Stoinis to Ishan Kishan, no run, Kishan is not the tallest guy, became even shorter by crouching low. Wanted to ramp this back of a length delivery over the keeper or towards third man, could not get any bat on it

11.3 - Stoinis to Faulkner, 1 run, does that again. This time though, was a bit smart to open the face of the bat and guide it to third man for a single

11.2 - Stoinis to Faulkner, no run, is it me or Faulkner has actually started batting like a proper tail-ender. Stays leg-side on this back of a length delivery and pushes towards short cover

11.1 - Stoinis to Ishan Kishan, 1 run, Stoinis in attack. Breather for the batsmen and me. Short of a length outside off, steers it from the crease to third man. Oh Axar has one more over left, no breather then

Jadeja wanted to steer it past short third man, got an edge and it scoot past the keeper. Three runs is what they ran before it could be sent back from the deep

9.5 - Gurkeerat Singh to Ishan Kishan, 1 run, too full and that will help. Kishan works it through mid-wicket

Sharma, with an upright seam this time, lands it on a short of length. But it did not do much off the seam. McCullum backed away and aimed to cut. He connected with thin air and the ball rattled the middle-stump. It might have just nipped back off the seam on replays. Brendon McCullum b Mohit Sharma 1(3)
