England are in a huddle. Taylor will be the stand-in captain in the absence of Morgan. Billings the substitute fielder. Finch and Burns are out in the centre. Willey marks his run-up. Just one slip in place. Here we go...
Ben Stokes played with a positive mindset even as he lost his mates at the other end. Moeen Ali and David Willey were sent back in one Mitchell Marsh over. Marsh also accounted for Stokes trapping him right in front. Adil Rashid and Mark Wood scored a few boundaries to take the total past 100. However, Australia cleaned up the tail quickly. Marsh was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets and was well backed up by the rest. This is in fact the lowest total for England in ODIs against Australia since 2007. With a target of 139, Australia have one foot in the door, unless England pull off a superlative effort. Stay tuned as the Australian innings will begin soon...
They say Australia rise to the occasion in big games and their bowlers have certainly vindicated that saying. After being asked to bowl first, Mitchell Starc set the tone very early. Jason Roy failed to keep out a low inswinging full toss, didn't review and was out in the first over. Alex Hales' poor series was put to rest by Hastings and Taylor for the first time in the series couldn't get going. Morgan was then struck by a brutal Starc bouncer. The England skipper looked in discomfort and took the sensible decision of walking off - retired hurt.

Starc looks stunned as well, the captain walks up to him, has a word and pats him on his back. All set for the action to resume..
Morgan is taking his time, the physio is having a long word with him. Will he continue batting? Doesn't look like, Bairstow, the next man in is getting ready. Smith was the first man to get across to the batsman, he signalled towards the dressing room. The doctor is there as well. Starc looks worried as he pats Morgan on his back. And.. he's walking away. Will he come back later on? For now, England have lost their captain and he's been replaced by Bairstow. Has he suffered any concussion? He stood up bravely, but was persuaded not to continue batting.
6.5 -
Starc to Eoin Morgan, no run, Morgan has been struck on the helmet and he doesn't look well. Anxious faces on the Australians as they come up to the batsman. The physio is out there as well. Starc to Jason Roy, out Lbw!! A shocker from umpire Wilson, and Roy took his own sweet time before trudging off. Why didn't he opt to review this? Replays suggest that impact was outside leg and the ball was slipping further down the leg-side. It was another inswinging low full-toss from Starc, Roy was looking to play the on-drive, missed and was struck low on the pads. The impact was outside leg-stump and it was missing the stumps. A poor call from the umpire, even more poor from the two batsmen as they kept on pondering about a review. They took too much time and ended up making the wrong call. Lucky wicket for Starc. Jason Roy lbw b Starc 4(4) [4s-1]
Starc to Jason Roy, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!

Roy has been given out LBW, he wants a review. Hot-Spot shows a big mark, but is it bat hitting the pad or was there an inside edge on that? The bat and pad were pretty close together, the third umpire, Kumar Dharmasena, is watching from different angles. He checks with the RTS and concludes that the ball hit the bat first, the original call was OUT and it has been reversed. Roy survives
0.1 -
Starc to Jason Roy, FOUR, swing for Starc, but he swings it down the leg-side. Roy looks to flick, Wade dives to his left but the ball swings away further, given as runs, must have got a faint nick

Finally, England's cricketing summer comes to an end. We have witnessed some extraordinary cricketing moments throughout. A close series between England and New Zealand was followed by England reclaiming the Ashes in extraordinary fashion, with Stuart Broad taking the center stage in the fourth Test. His 8/15 was instrumental in England's Ashes win. The T20I was also a thriller but England held their nerves to win the game. The ODI series saw a see-saw of fortunes but eventually, Australia won when it mattered the most.
Old Trafford: Having won the last two games and having beaten Australia at this very venue earlier in the series (in the third ODI), everyone felt England had the momentum but Australia completely outplayed them to help Smith begin his ODI captaincy with a 3-2 series win.
Headingley: It was turning out to be a bat-first series as the first three ODIs were won by sides batting first, but England changed the trend with a magnificent run chase. Morgan made 92 as England hunted down 300 with 10 balls to spare and forced a decider.
Old Trafford: James Taylor scored the first century of the series as England posted 300 on the board. Australia could not handle Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali as the duo shared 5 wickets between them to help England win by 93 runs.
Lord's: Smith, Bailey and Mitch Marsh scored fifties to push Australia past 300. Chasing 310, captain Eoin Morgan made 85, but rest of the England batsmen lacked application and the game was lost by 64 runs. There was also a bit of controversy as Ben Stokes was given out obstructing the field. Australia appealed and Stokes was given out by the third umpire. England though did not like the decision and even held a team-meeting after the conclusion of the match, which delayed the post-match presentation.
Series summary: Southampton: Wade and Warner recorded fifties, Australia scored over 300. In reply, England were off to a great start, but crumbled under pressure as Australia picked wickets at regular intervals to win by 59 runs.
Lehmann: 'Very pleasing for us. Both young sides going at each other after the Tests, it was great to see. We didn't have a lot of players from the 2015 World Cup winning side, but it's really great to see these young guys do well. It's a great chance for the young guys to get the experience. The World Cup is also here in 4 years time. These younger lads have got what it takes. Cummins was fantastic this series, the all-rounders have also been taking wickets for us. Mitchell Starc probably didn't have a really great series but he is extremely tired as well. We played the spinners beautifully today. They played the sweep shot really well and didn't premeditate as much. We are all pretty tired. It has been a really great series. England are extremely happy to have won the Ashes and we are also going back on a high.'
Steven Smith receives the trophy and poses for the photographers with his teammates all gathered around him.
Smith: 'Extremely satisfying for us. The boys played really well, they came out and did extremely well. We were very concerned about Eoin (Morgan) as it was a nasty knock (referring to Starc's bouncer which hit Morgan on the head and forced the England captain to retire hurt). It was a difficult time, especially since what had happened last year, but the boys handled it well. It was probably a good toss to lose in the end. The boys hit the right areas and got us some wickets. Luckily, the bowling really worked for us today. We have some really good fast bowlers. We don't have a lot of experience but it was good to see this bunch of players do well. First, I want to go home as this has been a very long summer before we travel to Bangladesh next. I think the team will be announced tomorrow. It's been a really good series and a very good summer.'
Live visuals show Darren Lehmann having a chat with Eoin Morgan on the balcony. The Australian players also receive their medals from ECB Chairman, Colin Graves.
Taylor: 'It was a serious ball from Starc (bouncer to Morgan). He (Morgan) is a little groggy but he will be fine. The Australians bowled really well and we lost early wickets. The way Morgan departed was unfortunate and then we lost wickets in a heap. It nipped around and swung a bit, but it was a better wicket than the last one (third ODI). It's always an honour to captain my country, even though this was a forced one since Morgan was injured. There are so many talented boys. We have shown throughout the series that we are a good side but credit to Australia as well for winning it today. He (Topley) is an exceptional talent and he has got skills. He didn't have the desired runs behind him on his debut. It's really exciting to be a part of this side and we want to do well. We have got some good players of spin. Hopefully, we can do what we have been doing this summer against Pakistan in UAE as well.'
Marsh: 'I have been working on my bowling with Craig McDermott for a few months now. You just got to put the ball in the right areas and look for the batsmen to make mistakes. It was just my 23-year old body (talking about a niggle he had after bowling his first over). I want to keep improving on both facets of the game and keep winning games for Australia. We were very disappointed to lose the Ashes but we are glad that we have won this series.'
Mitchell Marsh is the Man of the Match for his figures of 4/27. He is also the Man of the Series for scoring 134 runs and taking 8 wickets in the series.
Starc was clearly disturbed by the blow (to Morgan) and Smith and Lehmann had a chat with him to calm things down. Ben Stokes batted positively but lost partners at regular intervals. Adil Rashid showed great resistance and helped England get past the 130-run mark. Mitchell Marsh, who ran through the middle-order, finished with four wickets, while John Hastings recorded his career best figures (3/21). In reply, Australia lost Joe Burns and Smith early before the lunch break, but Aaron Finch and George Bailey shared an unbeaten 109-run stand to take Australia home.
A clinical victory for Australia then. With the way England fought back from 0-2 down, everyone expected a cracking finish to the series, but the visitors simply outplayed the hosts. Both captains said at the toss that the wicket was dry and they wanted to bat. Eoin Morgan called the right side of the coin and chose to bat, but Australia's new ball bowlers reduced England to 22/3 inside 6 overs. Mitchell Starc then bowled a brute of a bouncer and hit Morgan flush on the helmet. The England captain then walked off the field retired hurt.
The Australian coach, Darren Lehmann, looks a relieved man. Steven Smith and his men share hugs and handshakes on the balcony. Smith leads his men out to exchange handshakes with their counterparts as well. The Australians look extremely happy with this win and they can afford a smile now. They were outplayed in the Ashes and lost the only T20I as well. At least now, they have finished the tour on a high.

The players will take lunch. England are not yet out of the game. Willey provided them the early breakthrough when he removed Joe Burns for nought. The opener never looked at ease, flashed at a wide one and edged it to the keeper. There were some bizzare tactics from Smith and Finch who were content in defending and looked like they wanted to play for the break. However, that didn't go to plan as Smith edged a drive off Wood. If England can pick up a couple of early wickets after the break, that can set the cat among the pigeons. Join us back in a few minutes for the resumption...
