For the visitors, Suchith bowled with good control. Marchant de Lange too proved his worth by bowling an economical spell up front. In this crucial tie, MUM's batsmen need to soak the pressure to chase down the target and usurp CHN in their own den.
On the back of handy contributions by Brendon McCullum, Pawan Negi and MS Dhoni, CHN reached a good score. In fact, McCullum gave them a rousing start. However, after clobbering Vinay Kumar all over the park, McCullum threw his wicket away in the same over. Once McCullum was dismissed, MUM's bowlers were able to keep the lid on the scoring rate to some extent. Just in the nick of time though, Negi landed decisive blows to power the hosts' total.

Rohit: "It was Hardik Pandya (when asked whom he was pointing to when he was walking back after getting out). He strikes the ball pretty well. It was between him and Bhajji, but he is a proper batsman. We wanted to win this badly, no matter in what situation we were in. We wanted to stay calm in the middle and take it till the end. We lost a couple of wickets in the middle, but I am very happy with the way we finished off. It was a good bowling effort, but there is still room for improvement. We dropped a couple of catches, but I thought to restrict them to 158 was a good effort. We were determined to change it around and come back positively."
Dhoni: "To some extent I was pushed to take that decision (on giving Negi the 19th over). Our fast bowlers didn't bowl well today. Mohit went for runs, Nehra went for runs, so I was forced to make that decision. It was a tactical error in the end. No worries, it is good exposure. The fast bowlers need to step up. Yes, we have the purple cap, but we still need to improve. It is bound to happen, it is such a long tournament. It was one off day in the field. It is important to win games and especially the ones like these, but it happens, you lose some close ones."
Earlier, Negi and MS Dhoni strung together a fine partnership to lift the home team to a good score. On a track, where it was difficult to play through the line, Negi showcased a wide range of shots to counter MUM's bowlers. Suchith turned out to be the most economical bowler for MUM.
Hardik Pandya's pyrotechnics in the slog overs piloted MUM to a thrilling win. With this victory, MUM have ended CHN's winning streak at home that saw them win 10 games in a row. In a game full of fluctuating fortunes, CHN seemed to be in front, with their spin trio stifling the opposition ranks. However, Pandya walloped Pawan Negi for three sixes in the penultimate over to change the course of the game. It has to be remembered that Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel also played their parts with a fine opening stand.
What a thriller! The match swung like a pendulum and it needed the young Pandya and Rayudu to take MUM home. CHN's 10 match winning streak at home has come to an end. Both teams shake hands as CHN make their way out of the field.
