That brings us to the end of this series as well. India will finally breathe a sigh of relief after winning the final ODI, but Bangladesh will still be high on confidence as they have beaten their neighbours for the first time in a bilateral series. Bangladesh will face South Africa next. On the other hand, India now go on a month's break after a very long season. All you cricket lovers, you can catch the action from the second Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan tomorrow. We look forward to your company.

Bangladesh - a team which was known for upsetting the big opponents once in a while. But now, beware all the big teams, Bangladesh are no more to be taken lightly. A whitewash to Pakistan and then a series win against the erstwhile world champions in a span of 68 days. All this tells us the story of a team which has played some fearless cricket with no due respect to the opposition. This ODI series will surely do a world of good for the Bangladeshi team which is filled with young and outrageous talents. South Africa, the next opposition to arrive in Bangladesh in 10 days time, are scheduled to play 2 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 2 Tests. The Proteas will be mindful about the threat from the Bangla Tigers. Mustafizur Rahman, Soumya Sarkar, Litton Das, Taskin Ahmed - Bangladesh's future is in safe hands and who knows this might just be the start of what could be the rise of another Asian nation in cricket.

In what was a short tour, India were on the receiving end during the ODIs. Even though India clinched a consolation win in the final ODI, the form of the bowlers has hurt the Indian team deeply. Dhoni, who plays his cards close to his chest, revealed that he was okay to step down as captain for the team's cause if needed. He promoted himself up the order and also hinted that he would continue to bat at No. 4 in the future. Ashwin was the only bowler who was consistent throughout the series.

Tour Summary:

Only Test: Earlier, the one-off Test match that was played at Fatullah was marred by rain and both the teams had to contend with a draw. Kohli opted to bat on a slow and dry track and the openers justified the skipper's call by registering the highest opening stand against Bangladesh. Both openers got to their centuries while Rahane played a fluent knock before rain forced Kohli to declare overnight. Barring Kayes, rest of the Bangladeshi batsmen were rattled by some top-class spin bowling from Ashwin while Harbhajan chipped in with 3 wickets. The Test match ended in a draw just after India enforced the follow-on. Dhawan was adjudged Man of the Match for his well composed 173.

First ODI: Litton Das and Mustafizur Rahman made their debut in the first ODI when Mortaza opted to bat. Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar registered fifties which invariably provided a great platform for the following batsmen. Shakib and Sabbir played handy knocks before Nasir Hossain and Mashrafe Mortaza chipped in with late cameos. Chasing 307, India were a tad cautious with their approach. Taskin Ahmed sent back Dhawan and Kohli in a period of three balls while Rohit responded with a fifty. From thereon, it was all about the 19-year old Mustafizur Rahman. He was all over the Indian batting line-up and India lost six wickets for 90 runs following Rohit's departure. India never recovered since and suffered a 79-run loss courtesy Mustafizur's fifer.

Second ODI: In the second ODI, India made three changes by replacing Rahane, Mohit and Umesh with Rayudu, Axar and Dhawal. However, fortunes didn't change for team India as the 19-year-old Khulna lad yet again rattled the Indian batting with his subtle pace. India were all out for a mere 200 and a series loss looked inevitable. Towards the end of Indian batting, heavy rain hurled in and forced the Duckworth-Lewis method to come into play. The target was 200 in 47 overs for Bangladesh and the hosts chased it with ease. Despite the top-order batsmen failing to convert their decent starts, Shakib Al Hasan hung in and made a valuable fifty proving why he is considered as the saviour of the Bangladesh team. Mustafizur Rahman, who won the second successive Man of the Match award, became the first international bowler to claim 11 wickets in his first 2 ODIs.

Mortaza gets the trophy from BCB's President, Nazmul Hassan. The rest of the Bangladeshi players too join him soon after and the celebrations begin.

Mortaza: 'The way we have been playing, we can take a lot of positives from it. Not to forget, we can learn from the mistakes we made today. Mustafizur has been brilliant, he handles the pressure well too. He's a newcomer and there's a lot for him to learn. Hopefully, he can keep going like this. We lost too many wickets in the middle. The batsmen got starts but couldn't get going. A lot of series are coming up. South Africa are coming here next week and our fitness levels need to be up there when we face them. We need to keep going like the way we have done, but it's also important to learn from the mistakes. Hopefully, we can play well against South Africa as well.'

Dhoni: 'What was important for us was to put runs on the board and that's what we did in this game. If you give your bowlers extra 15-20 runs, it becomes easier for them. On slow wickets, you sometimes feel that you are behind the par score, but if you have wickets in hand, you can score more runs in the last overs. Also, the pressure on the batsmen coming in later in the innings is not that much if he has to go and play his shots. In the last 1-2 years, I have not batted at No. 4 position. This was my first real chance of batting up the order. We knew that if we had good partnerships, we can get a good score. That's why we kept Raina for later, so that he can come out and play naturally. It is pleasing to get a win but there are a lot of areas we need to improve. We need to decide whether we want really quick bowlers who give away runs or bowlers who don't bowl quick but bowl in the right areas. Bangladesh are a very good side, they have become more consistent lately. Overall if you see the unit, the Bangladeshi team is a very good one.'

Raina: 'We batted really well as a group. MS and Shikhar had a very good partnership. They set the tone for us. Later, Binny and I had a good partnership. Mustafizur bowled really well and the captaincy from Mashrafe was also very good. Credit to Bangladesh for the way they played in the last two games. We will hopefully take this forward now.'

Suresh Raina is the Man of the Match for his 21-ball 38 and figures of 3/45

Fortunately, this has been the only match in the whole series where rain hasn't interrupted play. India were inserted into bat under overcast conditions. Fifties from Dhawan and Dhoni steered India to a comfortable position as Rohit and Kohli got out after failing to convert their starts. Rayudu played a useful hand before he got out to a poor verdict from the onfield umpire. Raina, with a late cameo, brought in the much needed spark and helped India achieve a good total.

In response, Bangladesh's leading run scorer in ODIs, Tamim Iqbal, got out in the second over and the responsibility fell on Soumya Sarkar and Litton Das to lead the aggressive style of batting. Sarkar played some lovely looking strokes before he failed to pick a slower one from Kulkarni. Rahim and Litton Das got out in the span of four overs and left the team with a daunting task to chase. Shakib, who looked promising for a while, mistimed the slog-sweep, only to be caught brilliantly by Kulkarni at long-on.

Sabbir Rahman and Nasir Hossain twinned caution with aggression as the pair registered a 49-run stand for the sixth wicket. Nasir Hossain resisted for a while, but failed to get any support from the tail. India took wickets at regular intervals and clinched their first victory of the tour.
