Due to some technical problems, we are unable to cover live matches on our site and app. We are working on it and will be back soon. Please stay tuned for more.

The bowlers will have to bowl out of their skins if they have to restrict the strong Australian batting line-up. A couple of early wickets will help their cause. Can they achieve that? Misbah and his men are out in the middle. It might be the last time we might be seeing Misbah in the Pakistani colours. The countdown begins even as Warner marks his guard. Sohail Khan to open the attack. He has a couple of slips in place...

Hello again... The Pakistani fast bowlers are already on the ground warming up. Waqar Younis is overlooking things. He would want the four pronged pace attack to make the most of the target that has been set.

Hazlewood: "Very happy. I think the boys bowled well throughout the whole 50 overs. So, I think we are pretty happy with the total. The wicket is pretty good. It swung a little bit early, all in all, it's pretty good. It is great to be back in. We have quality depth in our squad of fast bowling. So, whenever you have a chance, you have to try and impress. I think so. Hopefully, we will get off to a good start. Just a matter of getting through the runs and off to a good start and hopefully chase them down."

Pakistan have a fine bowling line-up and under lights, it may not be easy to bat. The lowest winning ODI total at this ground is 140, when Wasim Raja bowled an inspired spell to help Pakistan skittle out the West Indies for just 132, but that game took place back in 1981. In short, Australia should fancy their chances of chasing down this paltry target to reach the semi-finals.

Among the bowlers, Starc bowled with great rhythm. He swung the new ball and with the old ball, bowled from around the wicket to generate reverse swing. With subtle changes of wrist and fingers, he is causing all sorts of problems to opposition ranks in this World Cup. He is bowling with a good burst of pace too. Starc's partner in crime with the new ball, Hazlewood, bowled parsimoniously and took four wickets. With Maxwell taking a couple of key scalps as well, Australia gained the upper hand. On expected lines, their fielding was top notch.

It was the impressive Mitchell Starc, who made the initial breakthrough by snaffling Sarfraz Ahmed's wicket. Sarfraz's tendency to guide it through the slip cordon cost his wicket. The metronomic Josh Hazlewood, known for his unrelenting control and untiring stamina, then struck by sending Ahmed Shehzad back to the pavilion. For the umpteenth time in his career, Misbah-ul-Haq had to lead from the front. He bided his time before clouting Glenn Maxwell for a couple of sixes. However, in an attempt to up the scoring rate, he perished and was dismissed by Maxwell. Haris Sohail had his fair share of luck, before he threw his wicket away. Pakistan found themselves in more trouble, when Umar Akmal too gifted his wicket away. Shahid Afridi slashed and bashed his way to play a cameo, but today was the day he needed to crack a half-century.

The well-oiled Australian bowling unit landed crucial blows at regular intervals to bundle out the opposition for a modest total. In fact, it could be said that the poor shot selection by most of Pakistan's batsmen also played a part in them losing the plot. The pacers generally bowled with good control to join the dots and frustrate the batsmen. The strategy worked superbly for them.

49.5 - Faulkner to Ehsan Adil, out Caught by Starc!! All over. Pakistan have been bowled out with one ball remaining. Faulkner also has a wicket to his name. It was short and just outside off, Adil fetches it from there, top-edges the pull towards long leg, Starc runs to his right, goes down quickly to ground and takes a good low catch. Ehsan Adil c Starc b Faulkner 15(22) [4s-1]

James Faulkner [5.0-0-18-0] is back into the attack

44.6 - Starc to Ehsan Adil, no run, for a second everyone thought Clarke had held onto a stunner. The full delivery from Starc, induces the outside edge as Adil feels for it away from the body, the ball just drops in front of Clarke at second slip, who dives to his left and collects it with one hand

44.5 - Starc to Rahat Ali, 1 run, fuller and around off, Rahat pokes at it feebly, the outside edge goes to ground quickly and eludes the diving third slip fielder

Length delivery on off, Sohail swings it wildly, the ball skies towards point, Haddin called for it, moved to his right and completes the catch. Sohail Khan c Haddin b Hazlewood 4(5)

43.3 - Hazlewood to Ehsan Adil, 2 runs, full and hint of shape into the batsman, Adil flicks it behind square, wanted two and hurries back. Sohail Khan, right handed bat, comes to the crease

42.2 - Starc to Riaz, out Caught by Haddin!! At last, Starc has his man. After numerous attempts to nick one, Riaz finally manages to achieve the inevitable. Fullish and just outside off, Riaz backs away to the leg-side, tries to go big, the outside edge flies to the right of Haddin, who pouches it comfortably. Riaz c Haddin b Starc 16(22) [4s-2]

Starc to Riaz, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

42.1 - Starc to Riaz, no run, Starc beats the bat, I have lost count now. Riaz has a smile on his face, he can have that until he doesn't edge one.

41.6 - Hazlewood to Ehsan Adil, no run, pulls the length back slightly, that allows Adil to get behind the line and defend to cover

41.5 - Hazlewood to Ehsan Adil, no run, good length ball around off, Adil defends with an angled bat to backward point

41.4 - Hazlewood to Ehsan Adil, no run, short of length close to off, Adil has a poke at it, the ball whizzes past the outside edge. Too good for a No.9 batsman

Ehsan Adil, right handed bat, comes to the crease

41.3 - Hazlewood to Maqsood, out Caught by Johnson!! Another Pakistani who gets a start and throws it away. Full delivery just outside off, Maqsood stays leg-side of the ball, spots that there is no one manning the sweeper cover fence, looks to slice it over the infield, can't get it over cover-point, Johnson takes a good juggling catch. Pakistan in trouble now, they might not finish their full quota of overs. Maqsood c Johnson b Hazlewood 29(44) [4s-1]

Hazlewood to Maqsood, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

41.2 - Hazlewood to Maqsood, no run, Maqsood goes for a mighty heave, shuffles across, goes down on one knee and looks to swipe it across the line, gets an inside edge onto the pad and the ball rolls down the wicket

41.1 - Hazlewood to Maqsood, no run, back of a length on off, Maqsood mistimes the punch to the left of the bowler, mid-off tidies up

40.4 - Starc to Riaz, 1 run, dabs it wide of backward point, to the left and picks out a single

40.3 - Starc to Riaz, no run, bumper, a typical response from a fast bowler, after being hit for a four, Riaz ducks under it and evades it comfortably

40.2 - Starc to Riaz, FOUR, the battle continues, Riaz walks away to the leg-side, Starc follows him with a full delivery, Riaz manages to chip it over mid-on, who was well inside the circle. The ball had enough on it to race away to the fence

40.1 - Starc to Riaz, no run, yorker just outside off, Riaz can't lay bat on ball

Coming back to the last ball of Starc's previous over, after Riaz made contact with the ball, Starc clapped in a sarcastic manner.

39.6 - Faulkner to Maqsood, no run, too full and around off, almost a yorker, Maqsood gets under it and drives it hard to mid-off, straight to the fielder though

39.5 - Faulkner to Maqsood, 2 runs, that is good aggressive running. Maqsood squeezes out the yorker to long-on, calls for two and sprints back as the fielder had a long way to run in

39.4 - Faulkner to Riaz, 5 runs, bonus runs for Pakistan. It was unnecessary from Johnson. Riaz drops the short of length in front of cover-point and takes off for a quick single, Johnson has a needless shy at the bowler's end, even though Riaz had made his ground. Smith tries to get across from mid-on, dived as well but the ball eluded him

39.3 - Faulkner to Riaz, no run, Riaz decides to give the charge, Faulkner sees that and digs it in short, Riaz has a pull and is beaten on the top edge. Umpire Dharma signals one for the over

39.2 - Faulkner to Riaz, no run, fuller and on off, Riaz pushes it to cover

39.1 - Faulkner to Riaz, FOUR, finally, Riaz manages to middle one. Length delivery on the stumps, Riaz clears his front leg and tonks it over mid-on, who is inside the circle

38.6 - Starc to Riaz, 1 run, fullish and close to off, Riaz closes the bat face early and the leading edge rolls along the ground wide of point, for a single

Riaz is not happy with the chatter. He walks up to umpire Erasmus and has a word with him. The umpire tells the bowler to get on with things

38.5 - Starc to Riaz, no run, Starc just walks up Riaz and has a few words. With the action that he did with his hand, he meant "It is a ball mate, it is white and it is round". Yorker around off, Riaz fails to dig it out and the balls goes past off-stump. There was an appeal for caught behind, but there was no edge

38.4 - Starc to Riaz, no run, Riaz has faced 10 balls and has been beaten on 6 of them. Starc has a wry smile on his face.

38.3 - Starc to Maqsood, 1 run, fuller and just outside off, Maqsood drives and the thick outside edge runs down to third man

38.3 - Starc to Maqsood, wide, just outside the tram-line outside off, Maqsood lets it go and umpire calls it a wide

38.2 - Starc to Maqsood, no run, umpire Erasmus signals one for the over after Starc bangs one in short, Maqsood goes for the hook and is not able to connect. Starc has a stare after the play and miss. Nice carry to Haddin, who took it head high

38.1 - Starc to Maqsood, no run, pitches it up around off, Maqsood walks across and drives it to mid-off

Starc changes to round the wicket

37.6 - Faulkner to Riaz, no run, shortens the length on off, defended back to the bowler

37.5 - Faulkner to Riaz, no run, now he is beaten by the back of a length delivery as well. Riaz stays in the crease and went for the steer down to third man, the ball grazes past the outside edge. Not clever cricket from Riaz as there is a slip in place

37.4 - Faulkner to Riaz, no run, good length ball around off, Riaz comes half-forward and dabs it to backward point

37.3 - Faulkner to Riaz, no run, beaten! It is again the fuller length that is causing problems for Riaz, he is not fully forward as he fiddles with it, the angle across beats the outside edge

37.2 - Faulkner to Riaz, no run, no footwork whatsoever from Riaz, full and slanted across off, Riaz goes for it with laden feet, is lucky not to have nicked it

37.1 - Faulkner to Maqsood, 1 run, fullish and outside off, Maqsood creams the drive to sweeper cover

36.6 - Starc to Riaz, no run, teasing line and length from Starc, on a length and angling across the right-hander, Riaz goes for on-the-up drive and is beaten

36.5 - Starc to Maqsood, 1 run, that is a rare sight, Warner misfielding. Fuller and outside off, Maqsood square drives it with an open bat face to point, Warner allows the ball go through his legs, Smith from cover tidies up

36.4 - Starc to Riaz, 1 run, drags the length back, Riaz camps on the back foot and nurdles it square of the wicket on the leg-side

36.3 - Starc to Riaz, no run, yorker just outside off, Riaz tries to squeeze it out, but is beaten by the pace on the delivery

Two slips in place for Riaz

36.2 - Starc to Maqsood, 1 run, in the air and safe! Banged in midway down the wicket, Maqsood is hurried on the pull, he splices it towards mid-wicket, Watson was at mid-on and runs across rather gingerly and takes it on the bounce. A far more agile fielder would have got there

36.1 - Starc to Maqsood, 2 runs, call was for two and they get it easily. Maqsood shuffles across his stumps to the back of a length delivery, flicks it through the vacant mid-wicket region for a brace

Pakistani batsmen have been lured into destruction by the sight of the short square boundaries, reckons Rajaraman from the ground. Too many poor shots, he says: 'three catches on the shortest boundary on the leg-side, poor cricket from the middle-order' - he adds.

35.6 - Faulkner to Maqsood, 1 run, good over to start the powerplay for Australia, just 1 run off it. On a length and on off, Maqsood wrists it to the right of Faulkner, who makes a half-stop and the batsmen pinch a single

35.5 - Faulkner to Maqsood, no run, pitched up and in the slot for Maqsood, who drills the drive to extra cover. Either side of the fielder and he would have collected four

35.4 - Faulkner to Maqsood, no run, shortens the length, Maqsood punches it down the wicket, Faulkner bends down and kicks the ball forward, the batsmen think about the run but Haddin gets there quickly

35.3 - Faulkner to Maqsood, no run, Maqsood is hitting them well, but is often picking out the fielder, on-drives it straight to mid-on

35.2 - Faulkner to Maqsood, no run, fullish and around off, Maqsood drives and picks out cover

Pakistan would have loved to have had Afridi at the crease now. But that is not to be.

35.1 - Faulkner to Maqsood, no run, back of a length around off, Maqsood punches it to mid-off

James Faulkner [2.0-0-5-0] is back into the attack

The batting powerplay has been enforced.

34.6 - Starc to Riaz, no run, Starc beats Riaz on the drive outside off, full and angled across the batsman, Riaz was feeling for the ball and was lucky not to have nicked it

34.5 - Starc to Maqsood, 1 run, short from Starc, Maqsood pulls hard and straight to deep mid-wicket, only a single

34.4 - Starc to Maqsood, 2 runs, pitched up outside off, Maqsood opens the face of the bat and carves it to deep backward point, Finch runs around and slides to pull it back to the other fielder coming across, he passes the ball on to him and saves two

34.3 - Starc to Maqsood, no run, Maqsood shuffles across to off and drives well, but picks out mid-off

34.2 - Starc to Maqsood, no run, full and wide outside off, Maqsood throws his bat at that and fails to connect. Gave it his all and missed

34.1 - Starc to Maqsood, no run, short of length on off, punched back to Starc

Wahab Riaz, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Mitchell Starc [4.0-1-18-1] is back into the attack

33.6 - Hazlewood to Afridi, out Caught by Finch!! Is this the last time that we will see Afridi bat in ODIs? Can never be sure with him! Hazlewood pumps his fist as Afridi throws it away. Poor cricketing sense from Afridi, he wanted to hit every ball out of the park and Finch takes a good catch above his head at deep mid-wicket. He was positioned on the edge of the boundary and took it well. On a length and on the stumps, Afridi swung and aimed for the leg-side boundary, hit it well, but didn't hit it to clear the fielder. Finch leapt a little too as he caught it. Afridi c Finch b Hazlewood 23(15) [4s-3 6s-1]

Hazlewood to Afridi, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

33.5 - Hazlewood to Maqsood, 1 run, short outside off, Maqsood hops and cuts to square third man, for a single. Rode the bounce well there

33.4 - Hazlewood to Afridi, 1 run, shuffles across and takes it on the full, wristed wide of mid-on

33.3 - Hazlewood to Afridi, FOUR, Afridi is providing action. That is a slog and the thick top edge clears Haddin comfortably. Dug in short and Afridi gets forward to pull and gets lucky

33.2 - Hazlewood to Afridi, no run, now Hazlewood beats Afridi with one that held its line outside off, Afridi had no room to guide that down to third man, it was too close to him and he missed with an open face, very close to both edge and off stump

33.1 - Hazlewood to Afridi, no run, cross-seam from Hazlewood, Afridi is early into the pull and misses. Went too hard at it and missed

His partner at the other end, Haris Sohail, played some fine shots, but had his moments of indiscretion, where he looked to slog across the line. With the current field restrictions around, it is easier to target over mid-on and mid-off regions. Australian bowlers joining all those dots eventually, led to the dismissal of Haris and his wicket was snared by Mitchell Johnson. To make it worse for Pakistan, Umar Akmal threw his wicket away by getting out to Maxwell. For them to post a competitive total, they need Shahid Afridi to fire on all cylinders.

Here is Bharath Ramaraj's analysis for the last 17 overs: Misbah-ul-Haq yet again tried to steer Pakistan to safe waters. Interestingly, Misbah has his own method of constructing an innings. Even when the pacers bowled half volleys, he looked to defend on the front foot. However, as soon as Glenn Maxwell came into the attack, he thwacked the offspinner for two sixes. Just in the nick of time though, Maxwell dismissed Misbah, with Aaron Finch taking an excellent catch in the deep.

Time for a Drinks break

32.6 - Johnson to Maqsood, 2 runs, hops across and tucks this through mid-wicket, two it is

32.5 - Johnson to Maqsood, no run, Maqsood is into the pull early, this was a slower ball bouncer, cutter and Maqsood is hit on the body

32.4 - Johnson to Maqsood, no run, back of a length on off, defended back to Johnson

32.3 - Johnson to Afridi, 1 run, pitched up outside off, Afridi gets forward to drive and gets a thick outside edge to third man

32.2 - Johnson to Afridi, no run, Johnson comes back well with a full delivery outside off, Afridi drives and is beaten. Lack of footwork doing him in

32.1 - Johnson to Afridi, SIX, extraordinary shot from Boom Boom! He hasn't timed that, but still gets six over sweeper's head. Full and outside off, Afridi sliced the uppish carve and Finch saw the ball fly over his head. The short square boundaries helping Afridi. Maqsood goes up and pats Afridi

31.6 - Hazlewood to Maqsood, FOUR, Maqsood takes a risk and it comes off. Shortish outside off, Maqsood had already decided to pull and short-arm jabbed it over mid-on, inside the ring, one bounce over the ropes. Connected that well and a pressure-releasing boundary

31.5 - Hazlewood to Maqsood, no run, back of a length on the stumps, punched back to Hazlewood

31.4 - Hazlewood to Afridi, 1 run, Afridi opens the face of the bat and guides it to third man, the fielder gets around quickly to keep it to a single

A slip in place for Afridi

31.3 - Hazlewood to Maqsood, 1 run, back of a length outside off, punched to sweeper cover

31.2 - Hazlewood to Maqsood, no run, short outside off, Maqsood has cut that to Warner at point, there is a fumble, but they don't risk the single. Maqsood has missed out there

Akmal was so livid with himself after getting out, that he could've done serious damage to his shin or thigh after hitting the bat into his pad. Wonder what would've happened had he missed the pad, such was the ferocity of the smash from Akmal. Maxwell couldn't believe his luck too

31.1 - Hazlewood to Maqsood, 2 runs, shortish outside off, Maqsood cuts and gets a thick edge down to third man, couple taken

Josh Hazlewood [6.0-0-18-1] is back into the attack

30.6 - Johnson to Afridi, no run, slower delivery outside off, Afridi drives and one hand comes off the bat handle as he does so, Warner at point dives to field that

30.5 - Johnson to Maqsood, 1 run, shortish on the stumps, Maqsood hops back and wrists it through the gap at mid-wicket

30.4 - Johnson to Maqsood, no run, pitched up outside off, Maqsood gets forward and drives to mid-off

30.3 - Johnson to Maqsood, no run, short of length on the stumps, Maqsood softly turns it back to the right of Johnson

30.2 - Johnson to Maqsood, no run, have to call that a dropped catch. Maqsood was surprised by the short ball, closes the face of the bat too early and pops a leading edge to the left of Johnson, he got a hand but couldn't hang on. Johnson had to change direction and couldn't do so in time, which would've given him more time to catch it. Clarke was jumping up, thinking Johnson had it

30.1 - Johnson to Maqsood, no run, on a good length and outside off, Maqsood punches it to mid-off

29.6 - Maxwell to Afridi, FOUR, Afridi attacks Maxwell and gets a boundary. Charges the bowler and blasts it wide of long-off. Beats the fielder too. Hit very hard by Afridi

29.4 - Maxwell to Afridi, no run, tossed up outside off, driven straight to the fielder at cover

29.3 - Maxwell to Afridi, FOUR, Afridi isn't going to hang around. He sees the flighted delivery outside off and carves it over point, the fielder was inside the ring and it needed to clear the man, which Afridi did

29.2 - Maxwell to Afridi, 2 runs, gets off the mark with a pre-meditated paddle to fine leg, for a couple of runs

Shahid Afridi, right handed bat, comes to the crease

29.1 - Maxwell to U Akmal, out Caught by Finch!! What have you done, Akmal? Inexplicable really. He has hit a rank half-tracker from Maxwell straight to deep mid-wicket. Akmal rocked back to pull and couldn't have placed it any better, if he had tried to. Finch hangs on, clutching the ball to his chest. It came in flat and Finch was unsighted for a moment, but takes a good catch. Maxwell roars in delight. Akmal was frustrated that he hit the bat hard into his pads. U Akmal c Finch b Maxwell 20(25) [4s-2]

Maxwell to U Akmal, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

28.6 - Johnson to U Akmal, 1 run, works the length ball to deep backward square leg, for a single

28.5 - Johnson to U Akmal, FOUR, fab shot. Just a punch from Akmal. Timed it so well that it raced away, but Shane Watson's effort from mid-off was very poor. He just ambled after the ball and made no effort to stop it. Escorted it to the boundary. Watson's running resembles a bit of Ashwin - both extremely slow movers on the field

28.4 - Johnson to U Akmal, no run, off-cutter from Johnson, Akmal defends to point

28.3 - Johnson to U Akmal, no run, Akmal went hard on the drive, but Johnson leapt high and pulled the ball down, mid-on is there to cover up. Clarke applauds that effort from Johnson

A slip in for Akmal

27.4 - Maxwell to U Akmal, 1 run, comes on the front foot and drives through the mid-wicket region

Sohaib Maqsood, right handed bat, comes to the crease

26.4 - Johnson to Sohail, out Caught by Haddin!! The round the wicket angle has got Sohail. Johnson punches the air. Sohail leaves with a grimace on his face. It was well outside off and going further away, Sohail's feet went nowhere as he went for a flashy drive, the nick went to Haddin's left who pouched it. Johnson is rewarded for his persistence. Sohail c Haddin b Johnson 41(57) [4s-4]

Johnson to Sohail, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

26.1 - Johnson to Sohail, 1 run, length on middle and leg, flicked to deep backward square leg

25.6 - Maxwell to U Akmal, FOUR, Akmal rocks back and cuts hard and in the gap at point. Haddin flicked the bail off and Maxwell started appealing, thinking Akmal had trod on his stumps, but replays clearly proved that wrong. Akmal didn't know what the fuss was all about. He knew he hadn't gone anywhere near the stumps

Did Haddin flick the bails off with his glove? Yes he did. There is an appeal for hit wicket. But Haddin said he wasn't sure. So it has gone up to the third umpire. Replays show that it was Haddin who has removed the bail

25.5 - Maxwell to U Akmal, no run, tossed up outside off, pushed to square leg

25.4 - Maxwell to U Akmal, no run, gets forward and flicks to short mid-wicket

25.1 - Maxwell to U Akmal, 2 runs, turning in, bounced too, Akmal rocked back and cut it to the right of backward point, two it is

24.3 - Johnson to U Akmal, no run, outside off, left alone

Misbah had to fetch that from well outside off and also his bat turned on impact when he hit it. Clarke brought back Maxi to tempt Misbah and the Pakistani captain fell for the bait. Kept a deep mid-wicket and deep square leg, asked Misbah to take the offie on. Credit to Maxi too for tossing it up despite getting hit for two sixes previously. Misbah eyed the short square boundary at the Adelaide Oval, but couldn't clear that time

23.5 - Maxwell to U Akmal, no run, turning in, worked to mid-wicket

23.4 - Maxwell to U Akmal, 2 runs, edged and no slip! Akmal went for a big drive first ball and edged it through the vacant slip position. Maxwell can't believe that he hasn't got a slip there

23.3 - Maxwell to Sohail, 1 run, Sohail comes down the track and drives it to long-off

Umar Akmal, right handed bat, comes to the crease

23.2 - Maxwell to Misbah, out Caught by Finch!! Misbah holes out. The bowling change has worked. The overspinner from Maxwell, it was outside off, Misbah looked for another biggie, but top-edged the slog sweep and Finch running around from deep mid-wicket has taken a good catch. Gets a high-five from the man at deep square leg. Misbah c Finch b Maxwell 34(59) [4s-1 6s-2]

21.2 - Faulkner to Misbah, no run, Misbah clips an off stump delivery to mid-wicket, says a loud 'no' to Sohail

21.1 - Faulkner to Sohail, 1 run, length on middle and leg, worked away to deep square leg

20.5 - Watson to Misbah, no run, back of a length outside off, Misbah defends

20.4 - Watson to Sohail, 1 run, now stays beside the line of the ball and dabs the length ball close to his body, down to square third man

20.3 - Watson to Sohail, FOUR, that is a much better hit. Clears his front leg and then goes over mid-on. Inside the ring. It was a length ball and Sohail connected well to clear the fielder, although the bat turned in his hand. The fielder was in very close at mid-on

20.2 - Watson to Sohail, 2 runs, just over Haddin! Sohail went for the pull, but it went off the glove and Haddin leapt back, acrobatically and the ball just lobbed his right-mitt. Didn't even get a finger on it. Sohail is itching to go hard and gets lucky

20.1 - Watson to Sohail, no run, in the air, but well in front of mid-off. Sohail timed the off-drive uppishly and Watson goes 'ooooo' as the ball doesn't carry

Shane Watson, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack

17.6 - Maxwell to Misbah, SIX, second six for Misbah. A mini helicopter that from Misbah. His version of it. It was very full and Misbah went deep in his crease and then cleared wide long-on with a big clout. Extended followthrough as well. Calculated risk and it has paid off

17.5 - Maxwell to Sohail, 1 run, Sohail comes down the track and drives to long-off

17.1 - Maxwell to Misbah, no run, flatter ball just outside off stump, Misbah defends off the back foot

16.6 - Johnson to Misbah, 1 run, oh! The inside edge found but it goes past the sticks. Just a bit of inswing on this fuller length delivery, Misbah looks to drive off the front foot, but only manages to get a thick edge, luckily for him, it missed the stumps and went to fine leg

16.5 - Johnson to Misbah, no run, full and outside off stump, Misbah pushes it off the front foot to mid-off

16.4 - Johnson to Misbah, no run, pitched up outside off, driven well, but straight to the fielder at mid-off

16.1 - Johnson to Sohail, no run, short of length on the stumps, defended to mid-on

Sarfraz has the habit of guiding it through the slip cordon, but on a deck that offers a bit of bounce, it was always going to be a risky shot. Josh Hazlewood followed up Starc's effort by hitting good lengths and was rewarded with the wicket of Shehzad. Pakistan could have found themselves in trouble, but the ball hit the leg bail and it didn't come down. Misbah-ul-Haq was the lucky batsman, with Hazlewood being the unlucky bowler on that occasion. Haris Sohail and Misbah then looked to steady Pakistan's innings. Michael Clarke, on his part, showed good captaincy by positioning a fielder at gully for Hazlewood as he extracts bounce. It is a fielding position that seems to have gone out of fashion in the modern era.

Here is Bharath Ramaraj's analysis for the first 16 overs: It was Mitchell Starc, who opened the bowling for Australia. He mainly generated inswing, but for a brief period, Ahmed Shehzad and Sarfraz Ahmed handled him reasonably well. The openers looked to stand outside the crease to negate Starc's swing. Unfortunately for Pakistan, Sarfraz was dismissed in the fifth over on the back of a fine catch taken by Shane Watson at first slip off Starc's bowling

Drinks are on the field now

15.6 - Maxwell to Misbah, no run, beautiful bowling and nearly the outside edge. This one was bowled well outside off, turned back in slightly with a bit of extra bounce, Misbah was looking to punch and missed. Ever so close to the nick. Maxwell thought he had his man. Misbah appreciates that it was a good delivery by nodding

15.5 - Maxwell to Misbah, no run, flatter outside off, punched to cover

15.4 - Maxwell to Sohail, 1 run, gets forward and drives to long-on

15.3 - Maxwell to Sohail, no run, comes down the track and isn't to the pitch, so taps it back to Maxwell

15.2 - Maxwell to Sohail, no run, good call by Misbah to send Sohail back. Punched to cover-point's left, Sohail wanted a single, Warner was the fielder who dived and got up in motion to throw it back to the keeper, by then Sohail was back

14.6 - Johnson to Misbah, no run, pitched up outside off, Misbah is brought forward, defended to cover

14.4 - Johnson to Misbah, no run, from round the wicket now, Misbah defends with an open face to point

14.3 - Johnson to Misbah, 2 runs, good work by Smith but Pakistan pinch two. Tucked to backward square leg, Smith ran and then slid to pull the back in with the other hand, had the presence of mind to throw it to the bowler's end, but Sohail is quick

14.2 - Johnson to Sohail, 1 run, Sohail plays it late and glides it down to third man. Played close to his body and let it run off the face of the bat

14.1 - Johnson to Sohail, no run, short of length on the stumps, Sohail awkwardly defends down the wicket, the bat turned on impact a tad there

13.6 - Maxwell to Misbah, SIX, that was the shot he was looking for, last ball. Now he connects handsomely, almost into the first tier, tossed up by Maxwell and slog-swept by Misbah. First six of the innings

Glenn Maxwell, right-arm off break, comes into the attack

Our man G Rajaraman is at the ground and he says that the Pakistan supporters are upbeat about their team chances. 'jeetega bhai jeetega, pakistan jeetega and jeeve, jeeve pakistan' is the common slogan heard across the Adelaide Oval.

12.6 - Johnson to Misbah, no run, on a good length and outside off, push-driven back to Johnson

Johnson is staying around to Misbah

12.5 - Johnson to Sohail, 1 run, tucked through the square leg area for a single

12.5 - Johnson to Sohail, wide, Haddin has a chuckle after Sohail hooks and misses. Very high bumper from Johnson and Sohail was nowhere in position to play the shot. Called a wide

Johnson is coming round the wicket now

12.4 - Johnson to Sohail, no run, Warner at point saves a single with a dive to his right, guided with an open face by Sohail

12.3 - Johnson to Sohail, no run, Sohail looks an organised player, compactly defended to short mid-wicket. Showed the full face of the bat as he played it

12.2 - Johnson to Sohail, no run, back of a length on the stumps, Sohail gets right behind the line and defends it back down the wicket

12.1 - Johnson to Misbah, 1 run, on a good length and outside off, dabbed down to third man

11.6 - Hazlewood to Sohail, FOUR, Umar Akmal claps in the dug-out after Sohail hammers Hazlewood for a boundary. It was on a good length outside off, width was there and Sohail made room before reaching out and driving past the diving cover fielder, no-one bothered to give it a chase as well

11.5 - Hazlewood to Misbah, 1 run, dug in short from Hazlewood, Misbah fends but keeps it down, behind square leg, quick single taken

11.4 - Hazlewood to Sohail, 1 run, good length down leg, clipped to deep backward square leg

11.3 - Hazlewood to Sohail, FOUR, Sohail gets a boundary and releases some pressure that was building up. Makes room and then clears his right leg and then smashes it wide of mid-off, to the left of the fielder

11.2 - Hazlewood to Misbah, 1 run, fraction short outside off, cut down to third man, for a single

11.1 - Hazlewood to Misbah, no run, on a good length and outside off, brings Misbah forward who defends

10.6 - Johnson to Sohail, no run, Johnson pushes Sohail on the back foot, defended to cover-point. Johnson is concentrating more on hitting the deck hard and making life uncomfortable for the Pakistanis

10.5 - Johnson to Sohail, no run, short and down leg, Sohail sits under that

10.4 - Johnson to Sohail, no run, now a short mid-wicket in place for Johnson, turned to that fielder

10.3 - Johnson to Misbah, 1 run, on the hips, tucked to deep backward square

10.2 - Johnson to Misbah, no run, 151.7kph from Johnson, back of a length outside off, defended to the right of point where Warner runs and then dives to push it to the slip cordon. Saved a run there

10.1 - Johnson to Misbah, no run, short and directed at Misbah's rib-cage, 'catch' was the call from the Aussies, but the ball drops well in front of Johnson after Misbah fended out. It went straight off the glove and the impact was soft, so it died down quickly. Misbah was in an awkward position there. Well-directed short ball from Johnson

9.6 - Hazlewood to Sohail, no run, back of a length outside off, extra bounce cramped Sohail there, punched to mid-off

9.5 - Hazlewood to Sohail, no run, good stop by Warner at point. Punched well off the back foot and Warner dived to his left and stopped it clean with his left-hand. Saved a boundary there

9.4 - Hazlewood to Misbah, 1 run, Sohail was waiting for the ball to go past the dive of Hazlewood, Misbah said to him in Urdu - 'jaa, jaa' and since Hazlewood didn't stop it, it was an easy single in the end

9.3 - Hazlewood to Misbah, no run, short delivery from Hazlewood, Misbah ducks under that

Watson's catch at first slip was fab. He followed the ball right till the last moment and then held it with both hands. Lot of slip catchers would've gone for it with one hand, as it swung late when coming towards the fielder, but Watto adjusted well and cupped it. Took it behind his body in the end

9.2 - Hazlewood to Misbah, no run, loud shout for lbw from Hazlewood, but it was too high, nips back in and hits Misbah above the pad, on the thigh pad and would've cleared the stumps

9.1 - Hazlewood to Misbah, no run, on a good length and outside off, Misbah solidly defends to cover

8.6 - Johnson to Misbah, 1 run, pushes it in front of short mid-wicket, it's in the gap, so a single

8.5 - Johnson to Misbah, no run, Misbah is shuffling across to cover off and the natural angle from Johnson beats him that time. Since he went pushing out at the full delivery outside off, the angle beat the shot as Misbah followed the line of the ball

8.4 - Johnson to Sohail, 1 run, back of a length on the hips, tucked to deep backward square leg

7.3 - Hazlewood to Sohail, no run, short of length outside off, punched to cover

7.2 - Hazlewood to Sohail, no run, on a good length and outside off, Sohail gets forward and drives straight to the fielder to cover

The first instance of the bail not falling happened in the UAE-Ireland game. Ed Joyce was the batsman and Amjad Javed was the bowler. Then both the bails lit up, only to settle down in their grooves

7.1 - Hazlewood to Sohail, no run, back of a length outside off, Sohail defends in front of point and looks for the single, not there

6.6 - Starc to Misbah, no run, another short delivery, bit more height on that and not at Misbah, he again sways away from the line, more comfortably handled that time

6.5 - Starc to Misbah, no run, that is a rip-snorter! At 151.4kph. Short and outside off, Misbah rose to play at it and then did well to drop his hands and let it go. Arched back as he did so. Good technique shown to leave the ball. Starc follows through and has a stare at the batsman

6.4 - Starc to Misbah, no run, short of length outside off, Misbah angles the bat and defends to gully. Played it down and negotiated it well

6.3 - Starc to Misbah, no run, Misbah stays behind the line of that delivery and knocks it softly to point

Three slips and a gully in place

6.1 - Starc to Misbah, no run, short outside off, Misbah arches back and sways away from the line of the ball

Even if Australia had reviewed for that lbw against Misbah, it would've been umpire's call which was not out. The second time in the tournament that the bail has lit up, but hasn't come off. I will tell you when the first instance happened after I check on it

5.6 - Hazlewood to Misbah, 1 run, good length delivery down leg, clipped to fine leg, for a single

5.4 - Hazlewood to Misbah, no run, on a good length and outside off, Misbah plays close to his body and defends it to point

5.4 - Hazlewood to Misbah, wide, down leg, called a wide

5.3 - Hazlewood to Misbah, no run, Misbah is very very lucky to be still out there. Down leg, Misbah missed the flick, the ball hit the thigh pad and hit leg stump, the bail appeared to come off the groove and then sat right there. The bail lit up and the Aussies were confused as to what had happened there. Hazlewood started celebrating and then the Aussies got around to confer with each other

What has happened there? The Aussies want a review for an lbw. Clarke is talking to Erasmus and after a discussion they move on. Dharmasena says it is time over. Hoho! The ball has hit the leg bail and it hasn't come down. Misbah stays. What a lucky escape.

5.2 - Hazlewood to Misbah, no run, outswinger from Hazlewood, Misbah shoulders arms

Misbah-ul-Haq, right handed bat, comes to the crease

5.1 - Hazlewood to Ahmed Shehzad, out Caught by Clarke!! Ahmed Shehzad goes. That is a poor stroke and Hazlewood is pumping his fist in celebration. On a good length and outside off, Ahmed Shehzad went for an expansive drive on-the-up, played away from his body and edged it, it went low to Clarke at 2nd slip who took a regulation take. Suddenly in a matter of minutes, the game has changed complexion. Ahmed Shehzad c Clarke b Hazlewood 5(13)

Hazlewood to Ahmed Shehzad, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

4.6 - Starc to Sohail, no run, dug in short, predictable response from Starc, Sohail ducks under that

4.5 - Starc to Sohail, FOUR, what a shot that is! Sohail gets forward and then punches the good length delivery outside off, wide of the leaping point, Warner was the fielder and it burst through his hands in no time. Raced away. That should give Sohail a lot of confidence. The Pakistani team clap that shot from the dug-out

Haris Sohail, left handed bat, comes to the crease

4.4 - Starc to Sarfraz Ahmed, out Caught by Watson!! Good take by Watto. At first slip. Diving across to his right. Got it with both hands. 17th wicket for Starc in the tournament. Bowled at 150kph and angled across Sarfraz Ahmed, on a short of length, the batsman made the mistake of playing with an open face and just guided that, Watto moved smartly and takes it well. Gets up and celebrates by throwing the ball away. Sarfraz Ahmed c Watson b Starc 10(16) [4s-1]

Starc to Sarfraz Ahmed, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

4.3 - Starc to Sarfraz Ahmed, FOUR, Sarfraz Ahmed was cramped for room, yet he rolls his wrists and directs the pull behind square. At the Adelaide Oval, the square boundaries are very short and it beats fine leg easily

3.2 - Hazlewood to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, short of length on off, Ahmed Shehzad gets right behind the line and defends

Sarfraz Ahmed is batting well outside the crease. And he is then walking forward into the strokes. He did the same against South Africa as well on a spicy Eden Park pitch. It came off that day. Will it today?

2.2 - Starc to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, the attempted yorker from Starc, it was a low full toss in the end, Ahmed Shehzad awkwardly squirts it out to third man. Was late on the shot, but got bat

2.1 - Starc to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, now Starc beats Ahmed Shehzad outside off. Shehzad was playing for the inswing there, covered the line for that and the ball held its line outside off from a fuller length and the batsman was comfortably beaten

1.6 - Hazlewood to Sarfraz Ahmed, no run, Sarfraz Ahmed is an aggressive player and wants to go hard early on, but that is a loose stroke. Once again the feet didn't move at all as he aimed a waft at a good length delivery outside off, swung and beat the bat. Hazlewood has got swing this over, which should encourage him

1.5 - Hazlewood to Sarfraz Ahmed, leg byes, FOUR, down leg and it beats the diving Haddin to his left, straight off the thigh pad and it is four leg byes

1.4 - Hazlewood to Sarfraz Ahmed, no run, Hazlewood wants to make a statement. He digs one in short, forces Sarfraz Ahmed to hop, defended to the bowler's right who picks the ball up and shies at the stumps, Sarfraz has to retreat and does so

1.3 - Hazlewood to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, Ahmed Shehzad plays close to his body and angles the bat late on that good length delivery outside off, runs it down to third man, beating point to his left

1.2 - Hazlewood to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, another outswinger from Hazlewood, he is getting swing, but Ahmed Shehzad looks at the shape away and lets it go

1.1 - Hazlewood to Ahmed Shehzad, no run, nice outswinger from Hazlewood, Ahmed Shehzad has a sighter first up, shoulders arms

Josh Hazlewood, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack

0.6 - Starc to Sarfraz Ahmed, no run, well-punched off the front foot, but Smith is sharp at cover, it was hit straight to the fielder

0.5 - Starc to Sarfraz Ahmed, no run, bumper from Starc now, aggression from the bowler, Sarfraz Ahmed ducks under that and lets it go

0.4 - Starc to Sarfraz Ahmed, no run, ever so close to the off stump! Starc has his hands up in the air while Watson claps. It nipped back in from a fuller length and Sarfraz Ahmed was playing an iffy drive, the feet didn't move and it nipped back in through the gate, missed the inside edge and wasn't far away from hitting the off pole

0.3 - Starc to Sarfraz Ahmed, no run, Smith at cover dives to his left and saves a couple at least. Nicely driven on-the-up and Smith went quickly. Gets a pat from the point fielder

0.2 - Starc to Sarfraz Ahmed, no run, Sarfraz Ahmed too gets in line as Starc hits the bat hard, defended to point

0.1 - Starc to Ahmed Shehzad, 1 run, runs straightaway and Ahmed Shehzad is off the mark with a controlled dab to third man, back of a length outside off and Ahmed Shehzad got back and across to play

Ahmed Shehzad and Sarfraz Ahmed are at the crease. Ahmed Shehzad is on strike. Starc will open the attack

Hazlewood: "It's great to be back. I've been bowling all week and it's good to do well. The wicket was quite good, as we saw all game. We are going well in this tournament, our fielding has been outstanding."

Josh Hazlewood is the Man of the Match for his 4/35

Australia will be brimming with confidence when they take on India in the semi-finals at the SCG. It should turn out to be a mouth-watering contest between two form sides of the tournament.

At the other end of the spectrum, it has to be said that Pakistan's batsmen showed poor shot selection. Despite getting starts, none of them were able to convert it into a big score. Haris Sohail top-scored with 41, but even he struggled for timing and placement. Their fielding and batting certainly let them down. Due to this gut-wrenching loss, Misbah-ul-Haq and Shahid Afridi weren't able to end their careers on a high.

Earlier, the bowlers put up a superlative performance to rip through the Pakistani line-up and put Australia in pole position. Mitchell Starc swung the new as well as the old ball to trouble the batsmen. Starc is in the form of his life for sure. Josh Hazlewood, with his unremitting accuracy and the ability to extract bounce, also made his mark by scalping four wickets. Even Maxwell chipped in with wickets.

For a brief period, Riaz sent shivers down the spine of the batsmen by bowling a barrage of well-directed short deliveries. When he dug it short, Riaz generally bowled it head high and outside the off-stump. The left-armer's angle also troubled the opposition. The strategy paid rich dividends as he picked up the wickets of David Warner and Michael Clarke. He should have snared the wicket of Watson too, but Rahat Ali dropped a sitter at long-leg and that perhaps was the turning point of the game. Poor Riaz, as Sohail Khan too dropped a catch to give Glenn Maxwell a reprieve. Maxwell made them pay by clobbering Pakistan's pacers with thunderous strokes as Pakistan hurtled towards a defeat.

Despite Wahab Riaz peppering the batsmen with vicious bouncers and taking a couple of wickets, Australia were able to chase down a modest target. It was Steven Smith, who played with poise and balance to shore up the innings. Shane Watson, who was troubled by Riaz's blistering pace early on also played his part by composing a crucial half-century. Australia with this victory have reached the semi-finals.

Good to see Wahab Riaz hug Glenn Maxwell. Now both teams shake hands. Clarke pats Watson on the back. Younis Khan hugs Shahid Afridi as well. Got to feel for Pakistan and Wahab Riaz. If only the batsmen scored 50-60 more runs, things could have been different. Well, this could well be the end of the ODI careers for Misbah, Younis and Afridi.

33.5 - Sohail Khan to Watson, FOUR, that's it! Australia are in the semi-final and they will take on India at the SCG. Pakistan are out of the tournament. Good length delivery outside off stump, Watson leans forward and drives it through cover. As soon as he hit the ball, he had his hands aloft in joy as he was running and then he hugs Maxwell. What a game this has been! So Australia lead 5-4 on head-to-head against Pakistan in World Cups

33.4 - Sohail Khan to Watson, no run, full and outside off stump, Watson drives it to mid-off, Maxwell wants a run but Watson isn't keen

33.3 - Sohail Khan to Maxwell, 1 run, slower ball on the leg stump, Maxwell works it to mid-wicket

33.2 - Sohail Khan to Maxwell, SIX, a classy shot from Maxwell. Full and outside off stump, Maxwell backs away and carves it very hard over cover and it goes all the way. Australia are just one hit away now

33.1 - Sohail Khan to Maxwell, 2 runs, full and down the leg-side, Maxwell glances it to fine leg, Riaz tidies up and the crowd boo him as he picks up the ball

Sohail Khan [7.0-0-44-1] is back into the attack

32.6 - Riaz to Watson, no run, wooo! Bouncer on the off stump, Watson ducks under it and lets it go. Now Riaz runs up to the batsman and has a few words to say. Watson smiles back

32.5 - Riaz to Watson, no run, steeply rising short of length delivery outside off stump, Watson hops and defends

There is a man at leg slip now

32.4 - Riaz to Watson, FOUR, it's a fine little tickle and Australia get four more. Short of a length delivery down the leg-side, Watson gets inside the line and helps it on its way. Now Watson gives it back to Riaz. Umpire Dharmasena intervenes. Riaz and Misbah too weren't happy and they complained to the umpire

32.3 - Riaz to Watson, no run, good length delivery just outside off stump, Watson defends

32.2 - Riaz to Watson, SIX, take that, Wahab Riaz! Michael Clarke applauds from the dressing room, he loved it. Short and just outside off stump, Watson rocks and pulls, hits it very hard and it goes flat over the deep mid-wicket boundary

32.1 - Riaz to Watson, no run, short of length delivery on the stumps, Watson turns it to short leg

Australia have scored 33 runs off the last 3 overs.

31.6 - Ehsan Adil to Maxwell, SIX, it's all the way this time. Short and on the leg stump, not quite pacy to trouble the batsman, Maxwell swivels and pulls it very fine, there was a man at deep backward square leg but he could only watch the ball sail over the boundary

31.5 - Ehsan Adil to Maxwell, FOUR, he'll smash you if you give him width. Shortish and wide outside off stump, Maxwell smashes it over extra-cover, it came off the bottom of the bat, but he hit it well enough

The Australian dressing room looks very relaxed now.

31.4 - Ehsan Adil to Maxwell, no run, on-driven straight to mid-on this time. A couple of yards either side of the fielder would have been runs

31.3 - Ehsan Adil to Maxwell, no run, fullish and on the off stump, Maxwell defends it back to the bowler, who fumbles the ball to his right but they don't take the run

31.2 - Ehsan Adil to Maxwell, no run, drives very well but straight to cover

31.1 - Ehsan Adil to Watson, 1 run, slower ball full toss, looked like Watson was surprised by the lack of the pace on it, but he managed to tap it wide of mid-on. That brings up his 33rd ODI fifty. Credit to him for hanging around despite that brilliant spell from Wahab Riaz

30.6 - Riaz to Maxwell, 2 runs, wow! A crunchy drive on the rise from Maxwell after playing a few rash shots. He looks so good when he times them sweetly and this time he sends it through extra-cover for a couple of runs

30.6 - Riaz to Maxwell, wide, oops! Sprays this down the leg-side, Maxwell gets inside the line and tries to help it on its way but misses it completely

30.5 - Riaz to Maxwell, no run, Riaz bowls a pacy short ball and also follows Maxwell as he makes room, the batsman throws the kitchen sink at it but misses

30.4 - Riaz to Watson, 1 run, poor fielding from Ahmed Shehzad. Short of a length delivery outside off stump, Watson steers it straight to backward point, who fumbles and allows the run

30.3 - Riaz to Maxwell, 1 run, short ball down the leg-side, Maxwell tries to pull but gets it on the glove and it rolls to fine leg

30.2 - Riaz to Maxwell, FOUR, oh my word! What sort of a shot is that? This is unfair for the bowler. He's actually outthought the batsman but it's four runs against his name. Maxwell backs away early, Riaz follows him with a short ball, Maxwell was cramped for room on the pull, the ball hit the bottom of the blade and raced away past backward point

30.1 - Riaz to Maxwell, FOUR, looks like Australia have it under control now! Riaz looks for the inswinging fuller length delivery, Maxwell waits for the ball and flicks it along the ground through mid-wicket

29.6 - Ehsan Adil to Watson, FOUR, nicely driven and there is no one sweeping on the off-side. Good length delivery outside off stump, Watson bends his knees a bit to get under the ball, just creams the drive through cover and it races away. Fifth boundary for Watson and he's approaching a fifty

29.5 - Ehsan Adil to Maxwell, 1 run, Maxwell drives with an angled bat again, he plays on the rise as well, but Umar Akmal moves to his right and takes some pace off the ball

29.4 - Ehsan Adil to Maxwell, FOUR, pulls in the air and it's over the infield. Shortish ball from Ehsan Adil, Maxwell plays this over mid-wicket and picks up four

29.3 - Ehsan Adil to Maxwell, no run, good length delivery outside off stump, Maxwell drives and picks out cover again

29.2 - Ehsan Adil to Maxwell, no run, outside off stump, punched towards cover

29.1 - Ehsan Adil to Maxwell, no run, steeply rising short of length delivery outside off stump, Maxwell cuts and misses

Ehsan Adil [3.0-0-11-1] is back into the attack

However, at the other end, Steven Smith played with composure. He seems to have more time on his hands. Smith washed away the challenge of facing up to a fine pace attack with aplomb and composed a crucial fifty. Ehsan Adil then dismissed Smith to give Pakistan a glimmer of hope of coming back into the game. However, Sohail Khan dropped a catch as well to give Glenn Maxwell a reprieve. Riaz was again the unlucky bowler.

Wahab Riaz continued to test Shane Watson with vicious bouncers. The strategy almost worked as Watson took his eyes off the ball while looking to pull Riaz, but Rahat Ali dropped a sitter at long leg. It wasn't just about Riaz bowling at scorching pace, but he bowled it head high and outside the off-stump, when he dug it short. The left-armer's angle also troubled Watson.

Drinks are on the field now

28.2 - Riaz to Maxwell, 2 runs, another drop and Riaz has his hands on his head, a nothing shot from Maxwell, this was banged in short and on the stumps, Maxwell made room for the swat, got into a horrible position on the shot, it wasn't a pull, it wasn't a cross batted swipe, it wasn't a cut either, the ball loops over backward point. Sohail Khan gets across from the deep, gets his fingertips on that and can't hold on. Another costly miss for Pakistan

28.1 - Riaz to Watson, 1 run, back of a length and just outside off, punched wide of cover-point for a single

14.1 - Riaz to S Smith, no run, back of a length and on Smith's pads, turned towards backward short-leg. Maqsood is back under the helmet and he makes a smart stop

Finch's opening partner, David Warner played some fine strokes. Whenever the pacers gave him any width, he took advantage of it by collecting runs. Steven Smith, who came in at the fall of Finch's wicket yet again showed masterful wrist-work to play shots through the on-side. However, Wahab Riaz took the key wicket of Warner. The credit has to go to Rahat Ali as well for taking a good catch at third man. Riaz then bounced out Michael Clarke to give Pakistan genuine hopes of coming back into the game. Riaz has certainly bowled a hostile spell. For Australia, they need Smith to shore up the innings.

Here is Bharath Ramaraj's analysis for the first 14 overs: Sohail Khan generated a bit of swing and more importantly, extracted seam movement to trouble Aaron Finch. Sohail's ability to nip it back into Finch paid rich dividends as he trapped him in front in the third over. Surprisingly, Finch went for the review and the original decision was rightly upheld. Finch hangs back in the crease and for a few overs against the white new ball, it is better to play with a straight bat.

The helmet is coming out. Maqsood gets into a silly-point position. A slip is there as well. Right, Maqsood said NO to stand under the helmet, Misbah himself volunteers to do the job. That's Pakistan's captain, doing all the things for his team. He moves into a FSL position

10.5 - Riaz to Watson, no run, another brute of a bouncer from Riaz, 149.2 kmph on the readings, Watson ducks underneath and lets it go. Riaz goes right besides the batsman on his followthrough - gives him a stare as well. Watson looks nonplussed

Shane Watson, right handed bat, comes to the crease

10.4 - Riaz to Clarke, out Caught by Maqsood!! Clarke has been bounced out and Pakistan are right back in this! This was banged in short and on the stumps, Clarke had nowhere to go, doesn't get on top of the bounce as he looked to defend. He ends up pushing the bat in front of his face, the ball balloons and lobs safely into the hands of Maqsood - placed precisely at a forward short mid-wicket position. Riaz is chuffed to bits, Australia have lost their third wicket. Clarke c Maqsood b Riaz 8(11)

Michael Clarke, right handed bat, comes to the crease

8.3 - Riaz to Warner, out Caught by Rahat Ali!! Australia lose a wicket against the run of play. It was not a wicket taking delivery, but Pakistan will take it. Short and plenty of width on offer, Warner leaps up and cuts it in the air, he wanted to hit it over backward point, but ended up offering a catch to squarish third man, Rahat takes a good low catch. It is also the 15th wicket for Riaz in this World Cup. Warner c Rahat Ali b Riaz 24(23) [4s-3]

5.2 - Rahat Ali to Warner, 1 run, back of a length on off, Warner tucks it to deep square leg, for a single

5.1 - Rahat Ali to Warner, FOUR, not the best of starts from Rahat. It just releases the pressure that was being built on Warner. Short and outside off, sat up nicely for, Warner hammers it in the air over extra cover, he didn't middle it as he has a look at the bat after the ball rolls away to the fence

4.2 - Sohail Khan to S Smith, no run, good length ball outside off, left alone

4.1 - Sohail Khan to S Smith, FOUR, lovely shot! That is bread and butter for Steven Smith. We have seen this all summer. Full delivery on middle stump, Smith shuffles across a touch and flicks it to deep square leg, the timing was impeccable

3.5 - Ehsan Adil to Warner, 2 runs, Warner gets it past the infield, back of a length delivery just outside off, punched off the back foot past the diving point fielder, Umar Akmal gives chase and keeps it down to two

2.3 - Sohail Khan to Finch, out Lbw!! Pakistan have struck early. Finch after getting the hundred against England has failed to get going and today as well he departs cheaply. It was the inswinger from Sohail Khan, Finch leans forward and fails to connect with the flick, the ball strikes him just below the kneeroll, ball would have crashed into middle and leg-stump. Finch lbw b Sohail Khan 2(5)

Sohail Khan to Finch, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!

Finch has been given out LBW. He is discussing it with Warner. It has been reviewed. The third umpire says, If you could give me front foot first. It is fine and can you give me the front on vision? No bat invloved. Can you give me RTS? No inside edge. The tracker please. It is OUT, I will let you know when you are on camera Kumar, yes you are on and stay with your onfield decision.

2.2 - Sohail Khan to Finch, no run, back of a length on the fourth stump line, Finch gets behind the line and defends down the wicket. Sohail Khan does a mock throw at the batsman

0.6 - Sohail Khan to Finch, no run, good length ball around off, Finch knocks it to cover after coming forward

0.5 - Sohail Khan to Finch, no run, huge shout for LBW, Sohail Khan was confident that he had his man. He asks the keeper and the slip cordon whether to review it or not, they say no. This one nips back in from a length, Finch comes slightly forward and misses the defence, is struck high on the pads and the ball lobs to second slip. No inside edge on that, height was the issue and Hawk-Eye shows it was just clipping the top of the stumps

0.4 - Sohail Khan to Warner, 3 runs, Warner already looking in good touch, Sohail Khan keeps it full and on off, driven past the non-striker. The batsmen come back for three before the mid-on fielder chases the ball down

0.3 - Sohail Khan to Warner, FOUR, Warner is off and running. It was a fantastic shot to open ones account.
