Heather Knight appointed England Women's Team Captain

Heather Knight has been appointed the England Women’s captain after Charlotte Edwards retirement last month.

Knight has played five Tests, 55 ODIs and 33 T20 matches for England and she was Edwards' vice-captain. Knight's first duty will be three ODIs and three T20 matches against Pakistan later this month.

Knight stated,

I'm really looking forward to leading the team into a new chapter. It's going to be a massive challenge without Charlotte - she has led the team for 10 years. Her contribution on and off the pitch has been amazing. To follow that is obviously a big challenge but one I'm looking forward to.

Head coach Robinson said: "Heather embodies many of the traits needed to be a successful captain - a superb work ethic, integrity and commitment, along with good instincts and cricket intelligence.”
