19.4 - Watson to A Russell, FOUR, switches to round the wicket again to cut the width and ironically gives it. Cloaks it in a full toss to make matters worse and Russell slaps it over backward point. All power

16.3 - Chahal to A Russell, FOUR, this is the legbreak turning away...going wide... Russell gets on his knee and toe-ends the cut through cover. That shouldn't have seen the fences but when you power it like that - almost like a whip - nobody can stop the ball

15.5 - Aravind to Shakib, FOUR, that's been doctored away. Not quite in control but in T20s, it'll do. Everything does. Shuffles a touch, waits for the cutter and drives to cleave the arc between backward point and cover-point. Off the outside half as Shakib couldn't quite open the face completely

14.3 - Chahal to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR, shortish legbreak turning away, Yadav reaches out with the turn and slots this cut wide of backward point

13.5 - Aravind to Y Pathan, leg byes, FOUR, cutter splayed down leg, misses the tickle and is frisked off the pads to the fine leg fence. An appeal for an LBW that would have shamed rule books and the umpire is not digressed with that. A fail of an appeal

13.1 - Aravind to M Pandey, FOUR, that's sublime timing. Wow. He was out of the crease, sees a shortish length and almost oozes out an open-batted punch wide of a vacant point

7.0 - Chahal to Gambhir, FOUR, and now he uses the depth of the crease. Not for no reason is Gambhir called a brilliant player of spin. Creates his own length and slices the cut past backward point

6.5 - Chahal to Gambhir, FOUR, this is too full. Lands very close to Gambhir's crease allowing him to get under it and loft it inside out to beat long-off

6.0 - Watson to M Pandey, FOUR, oh how expertly has he played this! Pandey stepped to leg and Watson seemed to have done a great job of cramping him up with a back of a length off-cutter, but then he unfurls his wrists and maneouvers the ball past backward point. Steered it absolutely perfectly

5.3 - Watson to Gambhir, FOUR, it's a good short ball from Watson, I wouldn't begrudge his effort there but Gambhir has rolled his wrists beautifully on the pull. He kept his eyes on the ball till as late as possible and transferred his weight back seamlessly to crunch it in front of square. A desperate dive from Chahal isn't good enough

4.5 - I Abdulla to Gambhir, FOUR, after seeing how this over has panned out, Gambhir has an inkling of what's coming. He shuffles towards off, gets inside the line of a dart and paddles it fine past short fine leg

4.0 - Aravind to M Pandey, FOUR, hoicks once more and despite mistiming it off the inside half of the bat, look at how quickly its gone to the fence. The trick is to just split the infield. Races away to the mid-wicket boundary

3.5 - Aravind to M Pandey, FOUR, one step, two steps and bam over mid-wicket. Got it perfectly in the slot and clubbed it hard. This is going to be fun

3.3 - Aravind to Gambhir, FOUR, short and at Aravind's pace, it's too easy for someone like Gambhir. Doesn't rise more than chest high, Gambhir stands tall and pulls it along the ground through square leg

2.3 - I Abdulla to M Pandey, FOUR, and first ball, Pandey goes down on one knee and slog-sweeps it to the wide long-on fence. Outrageous these young kids. No fear whatsoever

2.0 - Aravind to Gambhir, FOUR, clipped away wide of Jordan at mid-on and these outfields are so lightning quick that you can't allow it to pass through. Jordan still doesn't give up. He races after it and dives headfirst but to no avail

0.5 - Binny to Gambhir, FOUR, drilled through the covers. That's gone to the boundary quicker than you can say "blimey". Again, it's not quite a half-volley. But the bounce in this surface is so trustworthy that you can hit through the line. Driven gorgeously

19.0 - Jordan to A Russell, SIX, power. Brutal. Murdered. Gets a fullish delivery, launches his arms and brutes the ball over long-off. The bat swing measured in tonns of wattage there. And the elbow straightening sound? Let's leave it

17.4 - Watson to A Russell, SIX, oh, those wrists! Shuffles across and Watson fires it down leg but that doesn't hold back Russell. Winds up and whips it over fine leg. As carnivorous as a flick can get

17.2 - Watson to Shakib, SIX, BOOM! That's really big! Gets a ball on a length to get nicely under it, sinks to one knee and slog-sweeps the bejeezus out of it. Over deep mid-wicket by a distance

15.3 - Aravind to A Russell, SIX, holy me! He just powers it away. No back foot weight transfer drama. Just spots the length short, rises in sync with the bounce and blasts the pull off the front foot over deep mid-wicket. *Why fear when Caribbean power is here* moment

11.3 - Watson to M Pandey, SIX, oh my! That's been manhandled. Almost premeditates the length which is short, had the room made but the bumper does not deter him. Swivels on the front foot and murders the pull over deep mid-wicket. Audacious to say the least

6.2 - Chahal to M Pandey, SIX, "catch it" is the call from Rahul. What is he seeing? Pandey has muscled the slog-sweep well into the deep mid-wicket stands. He had lots of room as the ball lands on a length and he can get under it. Hammers it away

15.2 - Aravind to Suryakumar Yadav, out Caught by I Abdulla!! And another wicket! And this is a very good adjustment from Aravind. Sees the shimmy and immediately pulls the length back to arrest it. Suryakumar Yadav goes ahead with the punch, arches back to power it over extra cover but couldn't. Gets more height than distance, and Abdulla runs back from mid-off in an angle and pouches it. Suryakumar Yadav c I Abdulla b Aravind 5(5) [4s-1]

14.1 - Chahal to Y Pathan, out Stumped!! This was the craziest of dismissals you will witness. Not the shot, but the sheer reaction to the lack of it. Chahal tosses one up on a shortish length which tempts Pathan into a slog. He was waiting outside the crease for that, misses as the ball turns and Rahul takes the bails off in a jiffy. And then Pathan simply walked. Knew that he had dragged his back leg out and the replays showed that his bent back foot was inches outside. Is Yusuf the three-eyed raven or what? Y Pathan st Rahul b Chahal 6(12)

13.4 - Aravind to M Pandey, out Caught by de Villiers!! That ball summed up T20. Pandey backs away early to give away the cards and is followed by a full ball on his toes. The intention was to make room for a drive through off-side. Now that the room isn't there, he makeshifts with a whip and doctors the ball uppishly intending to clear long-on..but the lack of room meant that he could power it only as far as de Villiers in the deep. M Pandey c de Villiers b Aravind 50(35) [4s-5 6s-2]

10.3 - I Abdulla to Gambhir, out Gambhir Run Out!! Gautam Gambhir is livid but Kohli always will have more words. And more expressions. A tripe wide ball this was, Gambhir cut it straight to backward point and intended a run. Pandey reacts overenthusiastically, then Gambhir is forced to follow and there's a mid-pitch stutter. The two batsmen cross each other with heavy feet and Gambhir's gone as a result. Dart of a throw at the bowler's end and that was the end. Gambhir run out (Watson/I Abdulla) 51(34) [4s-7]

2.2 - I Abdulla to Uthappa, out Caught&Bowled!! What your coaches always tell you, never play against the turn. But Uthappa thinks that he has some leeway considering the ball is still new. But he should know his home conditions better than this. There's always turn here. He pops up a leading edge to the left of Abdulla who sticks out a left arm and the ball gets lodged in it. Uthappa c and b I Abdulla 2(4)

18.0 - Watson to Shakib, 1 run, Eden Gardens can do that to you. Aravind has dropped it at third man and the crowd noise goes up two notches. How many gears do Bengalis have? Phew. Sees a full ball drifting wide, reaches out with a crouch and throws his bat at it. Off the toe-end, not enough power, the fielder is waiting and he lets that pot out...looked more out of panic than anything else. He was nicely behind the projectile

14.4 - Chahal to Suryakumar Yadav, no run, now was there an edge? More like glove. Looks to cut this legbreak off the keeper's glove, but waits a touch too long to play it. The ball kisses the gloves and the keeper fails to hold on to it. Too tough a chance that for the keeper

13.2 - Aravind to M Pandey, 1 run, and he gets to a fifty. Claps. Very well played. Very full on the pads and he clips it to mid-wicket to get to the landmark

9.4 - Jordan to Gambhir, 1 run, it's all cutters from Jordan. And mostly on a back of a length. Gambhir dabs it behind backward point and brings up fifty. He looks absolutely pumped. First punches the bat and then punches the air with an intense look

18.4 - Chawla to de Villiers, FOUR, BLR are prospering in this precarious situation. Needed a win tonight and they have it. And a win that put Eden Gardens on tranquilizers. Kohli said that he enjoys such situations and gosh, didn't he tonight. Gayle blasted away at the top - miraculously persisted with for the day - and then it was tough to get past AB de V(irat)illiers. Coming to the ball: drifts down leg, de Villiers winds up on his back knee and shames it with a paddle-sweep through fine leg

18.0 - Rajpoot to de Villiers, FOUR, and now he's been nutmegged. Don't ask me if this was intentional, might well be. Had his legs wide -with his right leg planted well down leg - and tries to squeeze it out with a clip. Between the legs and and the angle took Uthappa out of the equation. 11 off the last 2 overs needed

17.1 - Rajpoot to Kohli, FOUR, he's just too much for Rajpoot. To put it bluntly. Had the room already, walks across to take on this off-cutter bowled on a length from round the wicket and bottom-hands the whip wide of long-on

16.5 - Shakib to de Villiers, FOUR, that's so, so harsh. Loops this brilliantly wide, de Villiers cuts if off the keeper's glove but is not in control. Off the bottom-edge and it runs away to the third man fence

16.1 - Shakib to Kohli, FOUR, there's some panache. Greets it with a reverse sweep and places it well wide of backward point to get away

9.5 - Narine to Kohli, FOUR, he's hammered this through the point region. Shortish outside off, Kohli goes back and across and kills it square of the wicket

8.5 - Rajpoot to de Villiers, FOUR, it's like BLR have decided that there's just one gear. Slower ball on a fuller length around off, and AB has slapped it straight back down the ground. Beats long-off comfortably

8.3 - Rajpoot to de Villiers, FOUR, AB into the act. Only slightly short, but there's enough width, and he slashes it away past backward point

4.4 - Narine to Gayle, FOUR, and now through the off-side. Too full from Narine in trying to get it away from Gayle's reach. Gayle drives the overpitched delivery through the covers

4.3 - Narine to Gayle, FOUR, he's seen two balls and now unleashes. Grounds his back knee, gets a big stride forward and sweeps it over square leg

3.4 - M Morkel to Gayle, FOUR, save yourselves. Save yourselves you KOL bowler, the boss is here. Short off-cutter outside off, Gayle arches his back to make some room and flays it over backward point. Just one bounce and into the ropes

2.2 - A Russell to Kohli, FOUR, oh no, you don't do that to Kohli. Not when he is playing like a lord. Full ball on the pads and he flicks it through mid-wicket nonchalantly

1.5 - M Morkel to Gayle, FOUR, Morkel is forced into yanking his length back, and Gayle pounces all over it. Transferred his weight back and pulled it well in front of square. Rocketed to the fence

1.4 - M Morkel to Gayle, FOUR, it's as if Gayle only has to connect slightly to clear the infield. Only some contact, but it will do. Full ball around off, Gayle aims a monstrous loft, the bat turns in his hands and he skews it over wide mid-on and into the fence

0.4 - A Russell to Kohli, FOUR, my word! Is he in some form or what! Russell tries to surprise him with a short ball first up and he has been pulled away to the deep backward square leg fence. That sped off the willow

18.1 - A Russell to Kohli, SIX, that bottom hand! Oh, that bottom hand! Took the ball on a journey that clocked over 90 meters. Gets it on a floggable length and swings it over deep mid-wicket

16.0 - Narine to de Villiers, SIX, oh my! This was drifting down leg, de Villiers is onto it in a blink of an eye. Goes with the drift, goes with the bat swing and swats it over deep square leg

15.0 - Shakib to de Villiers, SIX, and de Villiers celebrates it for him. The fifty, I mean. Shuffles forward and across his off, fetches this with a sweep and channels it over backward square leg

13.4 - Chawla to Kohli, SIX, thundering! Skips out this time and plants a smoothie loft over long-on. That flew off the bat. Lovely bat swing and lovely followthrough of the bat to pat Kohli's own back

12.2 - Shakib to de Villiers, SIX, that's been kissed away! Make room for the drifts and lifts it inside-out over covers. The fielder in the deep might have been lured into interest but alas

7.1 - Narine to Gayle, SIX, this is ridiculous. It's cold-blooded ruthlessness. Narine fools Gayle by darting it short as he saw him come down, but Gayle doesn't bother. He hops back and flat-bats the extra-cover drive over wide long-off

6.0 - Chawla to Gayle, SIX, Chawla can only shake his head. It's mayhem! Gayle sees a hint of flight and that's enough for him to open his shoulders. Don't think he got this one at all, out of the sweet spot I mean, in fact he skied it off the toe-end to have long-on interested. But in the end he is rendered irrelevant. As irrelevant as the toothpick they use to hold my burger

4.0 - M Morkel to Kohli, SIX, this is open-fire from both ends. Where do KOL go? Kohli jumps out of the track, converts it into a full enough ball and swings it inside out over extra-cover. Wow

3.0 - A Russell to Gayle, SIX, Gayle is here! A couple of missiles from his bat to finish a productive over. Short ball in line with the stumps, Gayle backs away and pulls it hard into the deep mid-wicket stands. Russell was down on the floor in his followthrough, almost to symbolize a knockout blow. BLR off to a flier..

2.5 - A Russell to Gayle, SIX, a flat-batted mow down the ground, and Russell must be sweating. The only thing which he did wrong was that he provided enough width on offer for the big man to swing his arms, and boy .. didn't he do that!

7.3 - Narine to Gayle, out Lbw!! Huge appeal, and the umpire nods before putting his finger up. Narine has struck the jackpot, and Gayle falls - one short of a fifty. It's the wrong 'un which is darted slightly short on middle, leaves Gayle cramped as it snakes back and raps the pad. He is so far back in the crease that height is not an issue. In fact, there is no issue here. It's plumb. KOL can breathe... Gayle lbw b Narine 49(31) [4s-5 6s-4]

10.4 - Shakib to Kohli, 1 run, what have you done Gambhir? A drop at backward point. The width lures Kohli into a cut shot, he obliges but fails to keep it down. Gambhir shuffles to his lelft, tries to take it with his fingers upwards, panics, switches the fingers around and drops it. How much will that cost? Ho ho

17.5 - Rajpoot to de Villiers, 2 runs, gets to his fifty now. If I would get a penny for every stunning partnership between Kohli and AB, I would own the Casterly Rock! The front leg was out to make room for the swing and the ball is clubbed to deep mid-wicket. The fielder was squarer and runs across well to cut it off

14.5 - Shakib to Kohli, 1 run, sigh! Yawn. Kohli has another fifty! Gets an overpitched delivery and puts in a lot of bottom hand on this drive to the deep cover fielder
