65.3 - Bird to Watling, FOUR, back of a length and on the stumps, Watling makes room and slugs across the line. Voges - at the deep mid-wicket boundary was well in and watches helplessly as the ball goes over his head, bounces and then crosses the ropes. He attempted a diving catch, but the ball was well past him

63.3 - Bird to Watling, FOUR, banged in short and on the stumps, Watling swivels across on the pull, gets a bottom edge and the ball beats the keeper to the fence, raises Watling's fifty as well

63.1 - Bird to Watling, FOUR, full and wide from Bird, Watling had to reach out for the ball, he does so and gets enough wood to clear mid-off, good aggressive batting from Watling

62.4 - Pattinson to Watling, FOUR, Pattinson shortens the length as Watling ccame down the track, cracked away behind square on the off-side for another boundary

61.5 - Hazlewood to Boult, FOUR, another swing and another boundary for Boult, bacs away and swings, gets enough bat to clear mid-on, rolls away to the fence

61.4 - Hazlewood to Boult, FOUR, more runs for Boult, backs away to a good length delivery and finds the gap to the left of mid-off for a boundary

60.0 - Hazlewood to Watling, FOUR, Watling is looking to play his shots, again advances down the track, the bowler shortens his length but Watling makes room and slaps it past cover for a boundary

59.5 - Hazlewood to Watling, FOUR, lovely shot, overpitched and on the stumps, Watling gets forward, presents the full face of the bat and drives it back past the non-striker, no need to run for those

59.1 - Hazlewood to Watling, FOUR, nicely done by Watling, width on offer from Hazlewood, Watling waits on it, plays it late and gets it in the gap between slips and gully, the ball rolls away to the third man fence

58.2 - Lyon to Wagner, FOUR, lovely shot, Wagner takes a couple of steps down the track, gets to the pitch of the ball and lifts it back over the bowler's head for a boundary

57.4 - Hazlewood to Watling, FOUR, signs of aggression from Watling, shimmies down the track, gets close to the pitch of the ball and caresses it in the gap between cover and mid-off, no need to run for those

53.0 - Lyon to Matt Henry, FOUR, tossed up and on off, Henry gets a big stride forward and wallops it high and wide of long-on for another boundary

48.0 - Bird to Watling, FOUR, fuller length delivery and just outside off, Watling prods forward and drives it all along the carpet. The fielder at mid-off puts in a dive to his right, but it goes through him and crashes into the ad-cushions

46.2 - Mitchell Marsh to Corey Anderson, FOUR, fuller length delivery and outside off, Anderson leans forward and drives it to the extra cover boundary. It rocketed to the fence

43.4 - Pattinson to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, Pattinson finally induces a thickish outside edge. However, even that runs away to the third man boundary. Pattinson nips it away off the seam, McCullum stays leg-side of the ball and ekes out an outside edge that flies past the diving gully fielder and into the fence

43.2 - Pattinson to Corey Anderson, FOUR, this is exhilarating stuff from the pair. short and wide delivery, Anderson slaps it to the extra cover boundary. No need to run for those

42.5 - Mitchell Marsh to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, width on offer, McCullum blazes the cut and it catapults to the deep extra cover fence. No need to run for those

41.5 - Pattinson to Corey Anderson, FOUR, a touch of width on offer, Anderson just slaps it to the extra cover fence. Smith and Co. just can scratch their heads in disbelief. The stand between the two is now 152

41.2 - Pattinson to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, it continues to rain fours and sixes at the ground. This time, McCullum clears his front leg and pulls this shortish delivery to the mid-wicket boundary

39.4 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, it feels as if a dot ball is a mirage in the desert. McCullum again skips out of the crease and flat-bats it to the mid-wicket boundary. It hit high up on McCullum's bat, but had enough legs on it to scurry to the fence

39.0 - Lyon to Corey Anderson, FOUR, shorter in length, Anderson takes a heavy toll of it by using the square cut and it runs away to the sweeper cover fence

37.3 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, and he keeps going like a brake-less car. Hazlewood bangs it short again hoping to keep McCullum calm. Wrong idea. He swivels and pulls it furiously behind square

36.0 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, Brendon McCullum, you are a superhuman! Wow. What a moment. Hagley Oval is up on its feet as their favourite son holds his hands aloft. This is cricketing utopia. Fastest Test hundred in the history of cricket. Rushes down the track and blasts a length ball through extra-cover to send everyone into hysteria

35.5 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, this is just crazy. Crazy. McCullum's swinging so hard that even the edges are flying away to the ropes. Banged in short on the body, McCullum pulls hard, gets a top edge which soars over the keeper's head

35.4 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, flat-batted over mid-on. Short of length delivery which doesn't wear the venom of the previous ones, McCullum muscles it hard over a leaping mid-on

34.5 - Lyon to Corey Anderson, FOUR, nicely executed this time. This is what he was trying to do on the previous ball. Ventures out of the crease, gets close enough to the pitch of the ball and lifts it over mid-off

34.0 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, seriously, seriously? That's Hazlewood's reaction as he stands there gazing into nothingness. Short ball in line with the stumps, McCullum wants to pull it into outer space but the ball gets a little too high for his liking. Then flies off the top edge over the keeper

33.4 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, this is an assault on the Aussie ego. An all-out assault. Hazlewood doesn't know where to go and hide. Dishes a full ball outside off and sees himself being bombed to the extra-cover fence. Scorching drive

33.3 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, almost yorker length and McCullum has swatted it past mid-on. His hands come down ever so hard on the ball and drills it powerfully

32.2 - Bird to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, that's a ridiculously good shot. He has played a few of these today. Bird hits the back of a length just outside off, McCullum arches his back, allows it to come on and flays a back-cut over gully

32.1 - Bird to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, wow! Lo and behold people, McCullum in all of his majesty. Won't get too many more opportunities like this. Charges out to intimidate Bird, and does a good job of it as he drops it short and wide. Lets his arms free and bludgeons it through the off-side

31.5 - Pattinson to Corey Anderson, FOUR, blasted through the covers. Stomps the front foot across to a length ball and clatters it

31.3 - Pattinson to Corey Anderson, FOUR, what's going on here! This is thrilling and unnerving in the same vein. Length ball very wide of off, Anderson reaches out with a cross-bat and clubs it past mid-on

31.0 - Bird to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, oh super! That's just too good. Not wide enough at all, he just leans backward and back-cuts it behind backward point

30.3 - Bird to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, bashed! Over extra-cover this time. Again comes dancing down while backing away, creates his own room and lashes the length ball with brute force

29.4 - Pattinson to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, and this will rub it in further. McCullum's pull stroke is straight towards fine leg who seemed to have lost it in the crowd and hardly got a hand in the end

29.0 - Mitchell Marsh to Corey Anderson, FOUR, no, not here. Marsh just doesn't have the pace to be feeding any short stuff. Despite having to fetch it from outside off, Anderson forces the pull through the vacant mid-wicket region

23.5 - Pattinson to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, McCullum, this time, ventures out of the crease and heaves it wide of mid-on for another boundary. McCullum is trying to change the complexion of this match

23.3 - Pattinson to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, Pattinson offers McCullum the width and McCullum does not need the second invitation to upper-cut it to the third man boundary

22.4 - Mitchell Marsh to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, McCullum is in the mood. Mitchell Marsh offers the half volley, McCullum takes a heavy toll of it by blazing the drive to the deep extra cover fence. He picked the bones out of that one

22.3 - Mitchell Marsh to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, McCullum certainly likes playing through the backward point region and behind square on both sides of the wicket. Mitchell Marsh offers McCullum a touch of width, he cuts it to the deep backward point fence. It scurried to the boundary boards

20.0 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, that's ridiculous. That's audacious. That's Brendon being Brendon. Swings across the line to a length delivery straightening on middle, and it flies of the outside-edge, soaring over the slip cordon

16.2 - Bird to Henry Nicholls, FOUR, a welcome boundary for the Kiwis. A touch of width on offer, Nicholls looks to flay the cut. He does not time that well. However, the ball goes in the pocket between the third slip and the gully fielder to the fence

3.2 - Pattinson to Guptill, FOUR, not very smart batting this. Just plants his front foot down to a length ball in the channel, a little bit of away movement takes a thick outside edge which evades the outstretched right hand of a diving third slip

1.4 - Pattinson to Guptill, FOUR, short and wide and cut away square of the wicket. Didn't move his back foot too far across, trusting the bounce in this pitch. There is a desperate chase given which culminates in a valiant dive but to no avail

1.2 - Pattinson to Guptill, FOUR, oh gorgeous. Just hold your pose Guptill. Don't bother running. Juicy half-volley presented in the hope of some movement. But if you pitch it that full, you allow the batsman to get right on top of the ball. Flows into the on-drive straight of mid-on

60.3 - Lyon to Wagner, SIX, clean hitting from Wagner, comes down the track, gets close to the pitch of the ball and lifts it high and over mid-on for a maximum

52.1 - Lyon to Matt Henry, SIX, massive, Henry will not hold himself back! This was tossed up and just outside off, Henry gets down on his knees and swipes it over mid-wicket, went sailing over the fence for another maximum

42.4 - Mitchell Marsh to Brendon McCullum, SIX, this time, McCullum makes room and pulls this shortish delivery over the deep backward square leg boundary. He is unstoppable at the moment

39.1 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, SIX, McCullum is tormenting the Aussie bowlers. He ventures out of the crease and clubs this length delivery over the mid-wicket fence. It sails into the stands

38.3 - Lyon to Corey Anderson, SIX, Anderson waltzes down the track, gets close to the pitch of the ball and lofts it high and handsome straight down the ground for a maximum

36.2 - Lyon to Corey Anderson, SIX, sees the flight, puts his skates on and slaughters it over long-on

35.3 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, SIX, he is certainly within close proximity. That fastest ton record isn't far away. It currently stands at 56 balls and McCullum can still topple it. Hazlewood bangs it short again, McCullum swishes hard, can only manage a top edge but still goes well over fine leg

33.1 - Hazlewood to Corey Anderson, SIX, we are in full blooded T20 mode. This is a counter-attack of a gargantuan scale. Down the track comes Anderson, picks the length ball and heaves it over long-on. Aussies are rattled

30.2 - Bird to Brendon McCullum, SIX, my word! Go run away bowlers. Just run away. This is a telling stroke. Dances down while making room for himself and flat-bats a short of length delivery straight over long-on. Brings up his fifty too

28.4 - Mitchell Marsh to Corey Anderson, SIX, oh crikey, that's been dispatched disdainfully. Short of length delivery without any real menace behind it, Anderson transfers his weight seamlessly after that initial stride forward and pulls it witheringly over the long square leg boundaries

22.5 - Mitchell Marsh to Brendon McCullum, SIX, now, that is a crowd killer. McCullum waltzes down the track to a length delivery, manufactures room and buries it over the extra cover boundary. If McCullum gets going today, this can be fun

22.1 - Mitchell Marsh to Brendon McCullum, SIX, well, McCullum has decided to take on the Aussie pacers. With a dash of adventurousness, McCullum lofts this fullish delivery over the long-on fence for a maximum. McCullum is showing his aggressive intent

65.4 - Bird to Watling, out Caught by Burns!! Watling's superb hand comes to an end and New Zealand have been bowled out for 370. He was taking his chances, got a few lucky breaks, but that's the end of it now. His swing finds Burns and Bird finishes with two wickets. Watling c Burns b Bird 58(57) [4s-9]

61.2 - Hazlewood to Wagner, out Caught by Nevill!! Lovely ball from Hazlewood, on a good length and a hint of shape back into Wagner before nipping away. Wagner is drawn into playing at that, doesn't get behind the line, has a feel for the ball and gets a healthy edge to the keeper. Wagner c Nevill b Hazlewood 10(23) [4s-1 6s-1]

54.3 - Lyon to Matt Henry, out Caught by Khawaja!! Henry's short cameo is over! He saw this flighted delivery by Lyon, came down the track, doesn't get to the pitch, ends up hitting it high and towards long-on. Khawaja is the fielder out there, he watches it all along and nearly fluffs the offering, does well to grab onto the rebound. Third wicket for Lyon, New Zealand have lost their 8th wicket. Matt Henry c Khawaja b Lyon 21(12) [4s-1 6s-1]

50.2 - Lyon to Southee, out Caught by Hazlewood!! A wicket straight after the break for Lyon, but that's a poor way to get dimissed. Yet another soft dismissal for New Zealand, they aren't making the most of their skipper's ton. This was tossed up invitingly outside off, Southee came down the track, doesn't bother to hit it over the fielder and or keep it on the ground, straight to Hazlewood at mid-off. Simple catch for the fielder and New Zealand have lost their seventh wicket. Southee c Hazlewood b Lyon 5(6)

48.5 - Lyon to Corey Anderson, out Caught by Voges!! What has Anderson done there? He has thrown his wicket away on a platter. Anderson skips out of the crease, Lyon pushes it wider outside off. In the end, Anderson tries a wild heave across the line. The bat turns in his hands and spoons an easy catch to Voges at cover. Anderson's enetertaining knock also played a key role in helping the hosts to make a smart recovery. Corey Anderson c Voges b Lyon 72(66) [4s-8 6s-4]

45.1 - Pattinson to Brendon McCullum, out Caught by Lyon!! Well, it needed a marvellous catch by Lyon at deep backward square leg to bring to an end what was a believe-it-or-not knock. The fans who came to watch McCullum bat in his final Test have certainly got their money's worth. On expected lines, he gets a standing ovation while making his way back to the hut. Raises his bat to acknowledge it as well. Coming back to the wicket, McCullum almost sunk on one knee and played the pick shot. Lyon at backward square leg moved forward and dived to pouch it with both hands. He kept his eyes on the ball all the way through there. Brendon McCullum c Lyon b Pattinson 145(79) [4s-21 6s-6]

26.5 - Mitchell Marsh to Williamson, out Caught by Smith!! Smith, has he stuck some gum in his hands today or what! It's the second absolute stunner he's pulled off today. Despite Warner diving in front of him, the Aussie skipper isn't put off by it. Full ball with a hint of swing away on off stump, the length tempts Williamson to push harder at it than he has done all morning, then it deviates enough to take the outside edge. It goes low between second and third slip, Smith sticks his hand out while diving to his right and finds it camped in the palm. Claims it straightaway. Replays prove that the catch is clean. Williamson c Smith b Mitchell Marsh 7(69)

19.4 - Hazlewood to Henry Nicholls, out Lbw!! Nicholls took a review for LBW. However, on review, it was clear that the ball pitched in line and it was hitting the top of off-stump. So, it turned out to be an umpire's call and Nicholls had to take the walk back to the pavilion. It was a length delivery that nipped back into the left-hander ever so slightly, Nicholls looked to defend and could not keep it out. The umpire answered the appeal for LBW in the affirmative. Henry Nicholls lbw b Hazlewood 7(12) [4s-1]

14.4 - Bird to Latham, out Caught by Smith!! Amazing reflexes there shown by Smith at second slip to pouch the catch. After doing all the hard work, Latham has thrown it away. It was a fuller length delivery that slanted away from the left-hander, Latham prodded half-forward and eked out an outside edge on the drive, Smith at second slip, put in a full stretch dive to his right to snaffle it with his right-hand. Terrific stuff from Australia's skipper. Latham c Smith b Bird 4(40)

6.0 - Pattinson to Guptill, out Caught by Burns!! Inevitable. The way things were going, Guptill is lucky to have played this long. Pattinson hits the deck hard on a back of a length and gets it to nip back in at Guptill who tried to tuck it away. Only managed a thick inside edge. The ball deflected onto thigh pad and popped up in front of Burns at short leg who dives forward to catch a simple one. They check for the no-ball which is tricky, but Pattinson has some part of the heel behind the line. Guptill c Burns b Pattinson 18(22) [4s-3]

42.3 - Mitchell Marsh to Brendon McCullum, 2 runs, Lyon almost takes a blinder, but the ball falls just in front of him. He though, does well to the keep McCullum to just a couple of runs. McCullum made room and used the upper-cut, Lyon ran across the boundary rope and put in a desperate dive, but the ball landed in front of him

23.4 - Pattinson to Brendon McCullum, no run, Pattinson has dropped a tough caught and bowled chance. Well, I would say it was technically a chance as it was hit so hard. McCullum thwacked a good length delivery back towards Pattinson, who tried to snaffle it with two hands, but the ball slipped out

40.5 - Mitchell Marsh to Corey Anderson, 2 runs, now, Anderson composes a blazing fifty. This stand between Anderson and McCullum can turn out to be a game-changing partnership. Anderson heaves this fullish delivery towards mid-wicket. Lyon hunts it down. Meanwhile, the pair add two runs to the tally

152.1 - Boult to Hazlewood, FOUR, drilled past the non-striker. Too full this time. Hazlewood jams the drive into the pitch and the ball bounces over a hunched Bird past mid-on

151.4 - Wagner to Bird, FOUR, Bird's weight is totally on the back foot expecting a short ball. Wagner fires it full and the ball holds its line on off to leave the batsman squared up and take a thick outside edge which runs away

150.1 - Corey Anderson to Hazlewood, FOUR, they are not backing down are they, these Aussie lower order batsman. Anything full is greeted with a flashing bat. Throws his hands at a wide half-volley and drives it in the air just escaping a diving Southee at cover

149.5 - Wagner to Nevill, FOUR, he's nearly glanced that to leg-gully. Moved inside the line of a short of length delivery and helped it fine while getting it high on the bat, just past the diving fielder

148.4 - Corey Anderson to Hazlewood, FOUR, oh that's zoomed past gully. Williamson had no time to react and by the time he stuck his left hand up, the ball was through. Skiddy back of a length delivery just outside off, Hazlewood gets a thick outside edge while trying to punch off the back foot and it flies away

146.5 - Corey Anderson to Nevill, FOUR, gets him to feel for one this time and the outside edge flies wide of McCullum who is at a widish slip. The cordon is very sparsely populated given the situation of the match and Nevill gets away. He just nibbled at a length ball away from the body, needless really and there was no way he could cover the angle

143.1 - Wagner to Mitchell Marsh, FOUR, now Marsh gets right on top of a short ball which doesn't climb high enough and dispatches it with authority. Wagner's length can be predicted as he is going short all the time, and Marsh bludgeons the pull in front of square

142.5 - Corey Anderson to Nevill, FOUR, that's a half-edge half-steer. Sees that he hasn't quite got the angle covered while defending a length ball on off, then opens the bat face slightly to run it wide of gully. Relatively well played in the end

141.1 - Wagner to Voges, FOUR, Wagner strays just a touch outside off with a short of length delivery, just a touch. And Voges has manufactured enough room by leaning backward a bit to cut it behind square where there is no sweeper

140.4 - Corey Anderson to Voges, FOUR, oh boy! What can't he do at the moment. Perfectly on a good length outside off, Voges plants his foot across and cracks the drive square of the wicket. Hits it on the up with a lovely bent knee

133.5 - Matt Henry to Mitchell Marsh, FOUR, Henry offers the width, Marsh brings out the punch and the ball bullets to the sweeper cover fence. Now, that came right off the screws

129.4 - Brendon McCullum to Lyon, byes, FOUR, short delivery and just outside off, Lyon thinks of pulling it, before withdrawing his bat. Watling is surprised by the bounce and it goes through his gloves for four byes

124.0 - Matt Henry to Lyon, FOUR, half-volley on the pads and dispatched with all the authority befitting a top-order batsman. Whips it menacingly through mid-wicket

121.4 - Wagner to Voges, FOUR, chest high short of length delivery on leg, Voges glances it very fine. Got it off the splice of the bat but it runs away past the keeper

121.1 - Wagner to Voges, FOUR, pulls it from off stump and well in front of square beating a diving mid-wicket. Rolled the wrists on the ball wonderfully to keep it down as well

119.4 - Wagner to Voges, FOUR, short ball which doesn't get up enough, Voges pulls it off the front foot in the air and to the backward square leg fence

118.1 - Boult to Voges, FOUR, no Boulty. Can't bowl there. Short and with width on offer, Voges is so smooth to transfer the weight back after a stride forward and back-cuts it behind point

114.2 - Southee to Voges, FOUR, Voges gets the mistake he was after as Southee drops it short while offering width at the same time. Moves his back foot across and cuts it away past point

106.4 - Matt Henry to Lyon, FOUR, excellent delivery. Holds its line from a good length around off, Lyon had to play at it. He is done in by the late movement and gets a thick edge which flies away past the diving gully into the fence

103.1 - Wagner to Burns, FOUR, the field is set for the short ball but Wagner can't get it high enough, the line is on leg-stump to make it easier for Burns as he helps the pull fine

101.1 - Wagner to Smith, FOUR, dabbed away between gully and slip. New Zealand look blank. Don't know what to do right now. Completely at the mercy of this duo. Back of a length delivery just outside off, but it's wide enough for Smith to run it fine with an open bat-face

99.3 - Wagner to Burns, FOUR, pulled off the front foot. Just transferred his weight back on seeing the nothing length and crunched it backward of square

97.4 - Boult to Smith, FOUR, oh so nearly! Misses off-stump by a whisker. Smith decides to take liberties and looks to dab a length ball fine towards the third man fence, it's not short enough to be playing it. Chops it off a thick inside edge and collects four. Another record has been broken. This is now the highest 3rd wicket partnership for Australia against New Zealand

97.1 - Boult to Smith, FOUR, slashes hard at a full ball and it races away off a thick outside edge past a flying gully

96.4 - Southee to Burns, FOUR, how many more? Just too full. Half-volley on middle to Burns who is perched over 150, won't miss out. Punches it straight of mid-on

94.4 - Southee to Smith, FOUR, Smith puts away another half-volley to the fence with a sublime on-drive to bring up the 250 partnership. Them runs keep coming

94.0 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, skims off the thick outside edge and dribbles away past a diving gully. It's a real soul-shatterer for the bowler seeing the edges going straight to ground. Draws Burns into a loose drive away from the body and sees him collect a streaky boundary

90.3 - Matt Henry to Smith, FOUR, sliding down leg, Smith whips it firmly and all along the carpet to the mid-wicket fence. Anderson from mid-wicket looks to hunt it down, and puts in a dive, but to no avail. He even crashed into the ad-cushions. However, no harm done

89.1 - Boult to Smith, FOUR, Smith is a run-machine. He composes his 14th Test ton. This is also his 6th century as a captain. On expected lines, he raises his bat to acknowledge his teammates and the crowd. It was a fuller length delivery that was bowled outside off, Smith drove it to the square third man boundary. It was in the air for a while, but the gully fielder had no chance of pouching that one

89.0 - Matt Henry to Burns, FOUR, Henry ushers in a bumper, but Burns rocks back quickly and nails the pull to the deep backward square leg fence. It crashed into the ad-cushions

87.0 - Matt Henry to Smith, FOUR, fuller length delivery and outside off, Smith brings out the cover-drive and it catapults into the deep extra fence. No need to run for those

82.0 - Boult to Smith, FOUR, again too straight from Boult, Smith whips it past the square leg fielder and the ball bullets to the fence

81.5 - Boult to Smith, FOUR, speared down leg, Smith neatly clips it to the fine leg boundary. Smith is very strong in that area. Poor bowling from Boult though. On a good note, that ball swung for Boult

80.5 - Matt Henry to Burns, leg byes, FOUR, this one nips back into the right-hander, but Henry gets his line wrong as he splays it down leg, Burns misses out with his clip. It hits his thigh pad and scurries to the fine leg fence for four leg-byes

80.3 - Matt Henry to Burns, byes, FOUR, more seam movement for Henry. However, he drifts it down leg, Burns misses out with the tuck. Despite the keeper putting in a dive to his left, he can't prevent it from running away for four byes

71.2 - Corey Anderson to Burns, FOUR, a genuine outside edge but the authority with which this partnership has gone along means there is no second slip. Wouldn't have carried anyway. Deviates slightly from a back of a length and takes a thick edge as Burns tried to defend off the back foot. Went straight down

69.3 - Corey Anderson to Smith, FOUR, here comes the error and it's been taken full toll of. Drags it short while simultaneously offering too much width, Smith plays the back-cut nicely wide of a diving gully

63.2 - Southee to Burns, FOUR, Southee just has not learnt his lesson as he bowls yet another short delivery, Burns cracks the pull and gets it past the diving square leg fielder for a boundary

63.1 - Southee to Burns, FOUR, from wide of the crease, Southee continues to pitch it short, Burns nails the pull and it races away to the deep backward square leg fence. He rolled his wrists on that one

62.4 - Matt Henry to Burns, FOUR, Burns posts his third Test ton. He has played with self belief and shown good defence. He takes his helmet off and raises his bat to acknowledge the applause. Fullish and just outside off, Burns again expertly guides it to third man by opening the bat face

62.2 - Matt Henry to Burns, FOUR, good length delivery and outside off, Burns opens the bat face and steers it all along the ground to the third man fence

59.5 - Southee to Smith, FOUR, another one that veers into the right-hander, Smith plays with soft hands and steers it to the third man fence. Street-smart batting from Smith. There is only one slip in place now

57.0 - Corey Anderson to Burns, FOUR, fuller length delivery and outside off, Burns takes the invitation and cracks the drive to square third man. It was in the air for a while, but no damage done

51.1 - Boult to Smith, FOUR, Smith's hawk-like eyes traces the line between cover and mid-off with a drive and the ball races away to the extra cover fence. The fielder at mid-off looked to hunt it down, but to no avail

49.4 - Boult to Smith, FOUR, Smith has put up a fine exhibition of driving today. The half-volley that is bowled outside off, Smith cracks the drive to the sweeper cover fence. No need to run for those

44.2 - Wagner to Burns, FOUR, flies away very fine off the top edge. Burns had committed to the pull but it kept getting big on him, couldn't control the bounce but still went hard which caused the resultant edge to absolutely soar away

43.4 - Matt Henry to Burns, FOUR, latches onto the half-volley and unfurls a stoking drive past mid-off. What they have done well is not allow these deliveries to go scot-free and that has allowed them to dominate this second hour after a cautious first one

37.1 - Matt Henry to Smith, FOUR, he will keep hitting those all day long. Dish out as many half-vollies as you like. Smith punches it superbly and mid-off has no chance

36.5 - Wagner to Burns, FOUR, not there. Not at this pace. Short ball which doesn't have any venom at all. Burns rocks back and pulls it hard through mid-wicket

36.4 - Wagner to Burns, FOUR, half-century for Joe Burns. It's been a nice old-fashioned innings. Fraction full this time, not a blatant half-volley but with the forward press, he manages to get on top of the ball and cream it straight of mid-off

35.2 - Southee to Smith, FOUR, that's an unforgivable half-volley and with Smith playing as well as he is, won't allow it to go unharmed. Punches it firmly past Southee who can't bend enough to stop

34.4 - Wagner to Smith, FOUR, good length delivery and tempting the drive outside off, Smith does exactly that by threading the gap through the heavily guarded cover-region and the ball catapults to the fence

31.0 - Matt Henry to Burns, FOUR, fuller length delivery and outside off, Burns creams the drive to the sweeper cover fence. It was timed supebly

29.5 - Boult to Smith, FOUR, with a leg-slip around the corner, the Kiwis had set a trap for Smith. However, he shuffles across and pulls a short delivery to fine leg for a boundary. It came right off the screws

21.5 - Boult to Khawaja, FOUR, width on offer, Khawaja brings out the square cut and the ball rockets to the deep backward point fence. He timed that one well

16.4 - Matt Henry to Khawaja, FOUR, gorgeous from Khawaja, Henry has the right idea but the execution hasn't been great. With three slips and a gully waiting, he slants this one across the left-hander, but overcooks and presents a half-volley, delightful drive through cover for a boundary

16.1 - Matt Henry to Khawaja, FOUR, cracking shot, overpitched and well outside off, Khawaja leans forward and drills it through cover-point, no need to run for those

10.5 - Matt Henry to Burns, FOUR, lovely shot, very full and straight from Henry, Burns leans forward, presents the full face of the bat and punches it back past the non-striker. Anderson gives the chase and drags the ball back in, but it goes back and hits the ropes

9.1 - Boult to Khawaja, FOUR, Khawaja is off and running, fuller length delivery on his pads, he rolls his wrists across and flicks it past square leg, rolls away to the fence in a hurry

8.1 - Matt Henry to Burns, FOUR, banged in short and on the stumps, Burns swivels across on the pull, don't think he got it off the middle, but hits it well over square leg, a couple of bounces and over the ropes

5.3 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, full and wide, almost a long half-volley as Southee was searching for swing, Burns lens forward on the drive, doesn't get it off the middle of the bat, ends up squirting it behind square on the off-side for a boundary

2.5 - Southee to Warner, FOUR, width on offer from Southee, Warner gets on top of the bounce and punches it past cover-point, no need to run for those

1.4 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, too straight from Boult, ends up drifting onto Burns' pads, flicked away very fine for a boundary, off the mark in style

0.4 - Southee to Warner, FOUR, short and wide from Southee, slapped away square past point, aggresive instincts from Warner and is he's off and running

153.1 - Wagner to Hazlewood, out Caught by Brendon McCullum!! Australia have been knocked over in a blaze after Lunch. Wagner has a six-fer and I can't put it in words how well he has bowled. Finishes it off with another brutal short ball, cramps Hazlewood for room from round the wicket as he tries to back away and glide it fine, smacks the gloves and pops up to McCullum at slip. Hazlewood c Brendon McCullum b Wagner 13(12) [4s-3]

151.3 - Wagner to Nevill, out Caught by Watling!! Wagner has a five-wicket haul. An inspirational spell from him and it's kept the Kiwis right in the contest. Short ball from round the wicket on off stump, Nevill aims to be a bit ambitious. Arches his back trying to ramp it over the keeper's head. But it hits the glove and carries through to Watling around head high. Nevill c Watling b Wagner 13(26) [4s-3]

148.3 - Corey Anderson to Pattinson, out Caught by Boult!! This match is not buried yet folks, New Zealand have come wrestling back after Lunch. Anderson makes Pattinson reach out for a wide length ball, the feet go nowhere as he aims a cover-drive and tamely slices it straight to point. Pattinson c Boult b Corey Anderson 1(8)

147.1 - Wagner to Mitchell Marsh, out Caught by Henry Nicholls!! This is rather incredible. He keeps bowling it short and the Aussies keep hitting it straight to fielders. Fourth wicket for Wagner and all four have been through pull shots. Short ball from round the wicket which is not that short and makes Marsh believe that the pull is on. But it skids on rather rapidly to hit high on the bat and he mistimes it straight to mid-wicket for a good low catch. Mitchell Marsh c Henry Nicholls b Wagner 18(40) [4s-2]

141.2 - Wagner to Voges, out Caught by Latham!! The third time Wagner has got a batsman caught on the pull in this innings. They needed this, did New Zealand - an early wicket after lunch. Wagner pounds it in hard midway through the pitch, skids on and hits Voges high on the bat as he tries to pull it from over the shoulders. Couldn't get it down. The ball goes above Latham who is placed slightly in front of square. Doesn't quite time the leap to perfection as he was on the way down when the ball got to him but manages to cup it with both hands stretched overhead. Voges c Latham b Wagner 60(127) [4s-7]

131.0 - Williamson to Lyon, out Caught by Brendon McCullum!! Eventually, it is Williamson who has prised out Lyon and ended the frustrating stand for the hosts. Nothing but a delivery that was angled across the right-hander, Lyon prodded forward and got an outside edge. McCullum at first slip dived to his right and snaffled the catch with his right-hand just inches above the ground. Sharp catch by the skipper. Lyon c Brendon McCullum b Williamson 33(75) [4s-2]

105.1 - Wagner to Smith, out Caught by Guptill!! You gotta be kidding me! It's like an action replay of Burns's dismissal. That short ball strategy only took 250+ runs to work and it's produced two wickets now. Both set batsmen gone. Smith swivels across and pulls it well but again, it's straight to Guptill at square leg. Window of opportunity for NZ. Smith c Guptill b Wagner 138(241) [4s-17]

103.2 - Wagner to Burns, out Caught by Guptill!! A wicket. After ages. The short ball ploy which looked like a sure-shot brain implosion has come off. Wagner bangs it in and gets much more height on this one. Even so, Burns is able to pull it nicely. Hits it well enough but just that it went straight to square leg where Guptill takes it inches from the turf. Burns c Guptill b Wagner 170(321) [4s-20]

23.1 - Boult to Khawaja, out Caught by Brendon McCullum!! Probing line and length from Boult has done the trick. He has made the early incision for the hosts on Day 2. It did not do much, but Boult was rewarded for drawing the left-hander forward. Good length delivery and it just about held its line, Khawaja prods half forward and ekes out an outside edge to McCullum at first slip, who grabs a good low catch, inches above the ground. Khawaja c Brendon McCullum b Boult 24(40) [4s-4]

7.4 - Boult to Warner, out Caught by Guptill!! Lovely bowling from Boult, the length was perfect, so was the line and Warner's edge was found. Sharp catch from Guptill at second slip, came at an awkward height, but he moved away from the line and plucks it. Coming back to the delivery, this was pitched up in that corridor outside off, nipped away a tad before straightening. Warner was opened up as he looked to defend, pushed with hard hands and the edge was found. Reward for some excellent bowling from Boult, that's the line he needs to concentrate on. Warner c Guptill b Boult 12(22) [4s-2]

138.5 - Corey Anderson to Voges, 1 run, scoring runs is too easy for Voges at the moment. He cracks yet another Test fifty. He raises his bat to soak in the applause. Fuller length delivery and outside off, Voges blazes the drive to sweeper cover. He now averages over 100 in Tests

126.3 - Boult to Voges, no run, well, after a bit of discussion with the bowler and Watling, McCullum took a decision to go for a review for LBW. The original decision was Voges was given not out. The real time snicko confirmed that there was no inside edge and even the impact was in line, the Hawkeye indicated that it was missing the off-stump. Thus, Voges survived. Voges looked to defend a length delivery that swung back into the right-hander missed and on replays it showed that it went past the off-stump. Boult generated reverse swing on that delivery

94.3 - Southee to Burns, 1 run, cuts this short ball to deep point and brings up 150. His first in Tests

83.3 - Boult to Burns, leg byes, 2 runs, too straight from Boult, Burns looks to clip it to fine leg and misses. But good running between the wickets help the pair to add two leg-byes to the team. Now, the stand is worth 200 runs

64.3 - Matt Henry to Burns, 2 runs, stretches out on the front foot to drive a fullish ball outside off, the lack of lateral movement at this stage makes it a safe shot despite playing away from the body and hits the gap through the covers

53.5 - Boult to Smith, 2 runs, half-volley from Boult, Smith creams the drive to sweeper cover, where Wagner was caught napping. As a result, the pair pinch a brace

52.5 - Corey Anderson to Smith, 1 run, Smith brings up a well-measured Test fifty. It turns out to be 16th Test fifty. He raises his bat to acknowledge the applause. Coming back to the delivery, he just dabbed one that slanted across the right-hander to deep backward point

30.4 - Matt Henry to Burns, no run, well, Burns has just about survived. He was originally given out as caught behind, but he straightaway took a review. On snicko it was clear that it missed the glove and instead hit the back arm on its way to the keeper. The umpire had to reverse his decision. In fact, the HotSpot seemed to be indicating that it had taken the glove. However, on further evidence it was not and instead took the sleeve. Shortish delivery and just outside off, Burns gets into two minds of whether to play at it or not and it went off the back arm to the keeper. Watling dished out an appeal for caught behind and the umpire answered it in the affirmative. On review, the decision was overturned

108.0 - Pattinson to Matt Henry, FOUR, no respect for the bowler whatsoever, makes room on this length delivery and slaps it past the bowler, no chance for the fielder at mid-on, the ball was in the air for a while but it raced away in no time

106.3 - Hazlewood to Matt Henry, FOUR, inside edge and that will run away to the fine leg fence, Henry made room on this back of a length delivery and Henry hoicked at it, got a thick inside edge and it scoot past the keeper into the fine leg fence

104.5 - Hazlewood to Matt Henry, FOUR, that has been whacked with disdain, that will hurt the visitors, half-volley outside off, such deliveries are taken for plenty during the last session of the day. Henry did not miss out, thrashed it through the cover region and into the fence

103.4 - Pattinson to Matt Henry, FOUR, this time Henry makes room again and gets it in the gap, the length was fuller outside off and Henry slapped it through the cover region, it was in the air for a while but away from the men in the ring

100.2 - Mitchell Marsh to Watling, FOUR, runs keep flowing as this partnership nears a century. Again, what brilliant hands from Watling. Waits on the back of a length delivery and then rolls the wrists late to dab it fine of a diving gully

100.0 - Lyon to Matt Henry, FOUR, now he's forced a big shot out of him and Henry has connected well. Couldn't resist the urge seeing the flight, cleared the front leg and pumped it back over Lyon's head. The ball was full enough so Henry had it covered

98.4 - Mitchell Marsh to Matt Henry, FOUR, agony, pure agony! It's all running for Henry. Jabs half-heartedly at a length ball outside off with no feet, the thick outside edge runs away between slip and gully

94.4 - Mitchell Marsh to Watling, leg byes, FOUR, not sure why Marsh is even bothering to appeal. Probably he's too embarrassed with the ball he's bowled and just wants to be distracted rather than dwelling on it. A half-volley down leg-side, and despite beating Watling on the flick, it runs away fine for four leg-byes

94.0 - Bird to Watling, FOUR, Watling keeps going from strength to strength. He's picked another boundary through the on-side. Sees a full ball on middle, and he has flicked it with a lot of bottom-hand wide of mid-on

93.3 - Bird to Watling, FOUR, oh shot! He's manufactured a boundary out of a decent ball. Realized that the width wasn't there, nor was the length to be playing the cut, then chops it smartly behind point despite appearing to be cramped. Key was to play it late

91.2 - Bird to Watling, FOUR, Burns has made a horrible mess of this at the deep mid-wicket fence. He got there after a big chase and then lost his footing allowing the ball through. Half-volley on the pads and Watling whips it gorgeously. A shot which deserved a boundary. Burns concured

91.0 - Hazlewood to Matt Henry, FOUR, ooof, that's been hammered. Short ball which doesn't have a lot of menace behind it, Henry bludgeons the pull from in front of his rib-cage over mid-wicket

90.4 - Hazlewood to Matt Henry, FOUR, 50 of the partnership comes up as Henry continues to ride his luck. Awkward short ball angled in towards the left shoulder, Henry swishes hard on the pull and it soars away fine off the top edge

89.3 - Pattinson to Matt Henry, FOUR, big swing across the line again and the outside edge flies over the slip cordon for back-to-back boundaries. Been a handy partnership this. Precious runs

89.2 - Pattinson to Matt Henry, FOUR, clears the front leg and wafts it over extra-cover. Got a good chunk of willow on the length ball which had sufficient width to provide the room

85.1 - Pattinson to Watling, FOUR, fuller length delivery that swings away from the right-hander, Watling gets a thickish outside edge that bisects the gap between the third slip fielder and gully, and into the third man fence

84.2 - Hazlewood to Matt Henry, FOUR, meaty blow that from Henry. He plants his front foot and lofts a good length delivery over the bowler's head and the ball whistles to the boundary boards. Useful runs for the Kiwis

83.1 - Pattinson to Matt Henry, leg byes, FOUR, sliding down leg, Henry aims to clip it around the corner and misses. But it flies past the diving keeper and into the fine leg fence

83.0 - Bird to Watling, FOUR, classy shot that by Watling. With sublime timing and by rolling his wrists on it, Watling whips a half volley that was bowled on the leg-stump to the deep backward square leg boundary

81.3 - Pattinson to Matt Henry, FOUR, Henry stays back and punches this good length delivery that is bowled outside off to the third man fence

76.0 - Lyon to Corey Anderson, FOUR, nice use of the feet by Anderson, there. Tossed up delivery and on the stumps, Anderson charges down the track, and then whips it against the turn to the deep mid-wicket fence. The stand now is worth 101

68.5 - Hazlewood to Corey Anderson, FOUR, creamed through the covers. More runs. More hands on hips. Offers a blatant half-volley allowing Anderson to meet the pitch of it and smack it through

57.0 - Bird to Williamson, FOUR, yet again Bird can't get good shoulder on a short delivery, Williamson rocks back quickly and pulls it to the deep backward square leg boundary. He bisected two fielders in the deep to perfection

56.5 - Bird to Williamson, FOUR, Bird hurls in the bumper, but does not get good height on it, Williamson rolls his wrists on it and pulls it to the deep backward square leg fence

55.3 - Mitchell Marsh to Williamson, FOUR, this was in the air, but in the end, no harm done. Williamson drives a fuller length delivery to the right of Marsh, the bowler, and it bullets to the fence straight down the ground

53.1 - Pattinson to Williamson, leg byes, FOUR, Pattinson goes for the boomerang-bending inswinger. But gets the line wrong as he drifts it down leg, Williamson tries to get a tickle on it, but can't. It hits his back pad and runs away to the fine leg fence for four leg-byes

51.5 - Pattinson to Corey Anderson, FOUR, Mitchell Marsh has dropped a chance there at gully. Fuller length delivery and just outside off, Anderson aims for an airy fairy drive and gets a thickish outside edge to Marsh at gully. It was hit pretty hard, however, it went straight to Marsh at head height, but the ball burst through his hands and into the third man fence. That will go down as a chance

49.1 - Pattinson to Corey Anderson, FOUR, fuller length delivery and just outside off, Anderson takes the bait and drives it on the up. However, breaches the gap through the mid-off region and it scurries to the fence. New Zealand now lead by three runs

48.1 - Hazlewood to Williamson, FOUR, the bumper and Hazlewood gets good height on it. Williamson though, is equal to the task as he gets on top of the bounce to offer the pull. The ball races away to the deep mid-wicket fence

36.5 - Hazlewood to Corey Anderson, FOUR, fuller length delivery and just outside off, Anderson prods forward and ekes out an outside edge past the diving second slip fielder and into the third man fence. He played that with soft hands

32.1 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, McCullum pounces on a short and wide delivery and it scorches to the deep backward point boundary. It came off the meat of the bat

31.4 - Pattinson to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, the away-swinger from Pattinson, McCullum deliberately opens the bat face and steers it past the diving second slip fielder to the third man boundary

31.2 - Pattinson to Brendon McCullum, FOUR, now, one expects McCullum to take plenty of chances even early on in his innings. He does just that by staying slightly leg-side of the ball and upper-cutting a shortish delivery to the third man fence. Audacious stroke by McCullum

30.5 - Bird to Williamson, FOUR, half-volley from Bird, Williamson leans into the drive and pierces the gap wide of mid-off. The ball bullets to the fence. Sublime shot by Williamson

24.4 - Bird to Williamson, FOUR, pulled away! A short ball with no purpose at all. Just lingering around chest high outside off. Williamson pivots so wonderfully on that back leg and swats it off the front foot wide of a diving square leg

20.0 - Mitchell Marsh to Latham, FOUR, much similar to the fourth ball of the over, except for the fact that this time chopped it with much harder hands. Jammed it into the turf and bounced over the cordon

14.2 - Hazlewood to Williamson, FOUR, woah, Hazlewood went for a surprise inswinging yorker. Doesn't usually do that. Got it to tail nicely but ended up serving a low full toss on the pads. Flicked away through mid-wicket

11.0 - Lyon to Latham, FOUR, Lyon offers a touch of width, Latham pounces on it by blazing the cut shot square on the off-side. No need to run for those

9.1 - Hazlewood to Williamson, FOUR, angling down leg, Williamson gets a faint edge on it and the ball races past the keeper to the fine leg boundary. On replays, Williamson perhaps did not get any wood on that one

8.5 - Bird to Latham, FOUR, eventually, Latham takes advantage of a full toss that was bowled just outside off. He cracks the drive off the front foot and it scurries past motionless fielders to the extra cover fence

6.4 - Bird to Latham, FOUR, Latham, with a concoction of timing and placement, cracks the drive and pierces the gap past the fielder stationed at mid-on. It races away to the fence. He closed his bat face ever so slightly there

6.2 - Bird to Latham, FOUR, nearly a half volley from Bird, Latham takes a baby step forward and uses the straight drive. The ball just catapults to the fence

4.5 - Hazlewood to Latham, FOUR, overpitched delivery from Hazlewood, Latham brings out the off-drive. He creams it all along the turf to the long-off fence. Now, that stroke should give Latham the much needed confidence

1.4 - Pattinson to Latham, FOUR, Latham was almost beaten for pace there. Pattinson bowled that one at 149ks. Another low full toss from Pattinson, Latham hangs back in the crease a bit and tries to drive. He gets an outside edge that flies past the first slip fielder, who dived to his left, but to no avail as it raced away to the third man fence

34.4 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, SIX, a scorcher of a shot from McCullum! Hazlewood bangs it short, McCullum nails the pull and it clears the deep square leg fence

111.1 - Bird to Boult, out Caught by Pattinson!! And this foolish shot gives Bird his maiden fifer in Test cricket. Fuller length delivery and Wagner swayed away from the line and went hard at it, got a thick top edge and the ball ballooned towards mid-off, who could not have asked for an easier catch, settled under it to wrap up the New Zealand's innings. Boult c Pattinson b Bird 0(5)

109.2 - Bird to Matt Henry, out Bowled!! The bumper might have played on Henry's mind, he stayed back this time, while trying to make some room. For the most part of his innings, this tactic had worked but not this time. The ball swung in a little and missed Henry's awkward looking on the up drive, hit the middle stump and Henry has to depart. Matt Henry b Bird 66(93) [4s-12]

107.2 - Pattinson to Watling, out Caught by Burns!! That is a lucky wicket for Pattinson, this will be the end of a good partnership. Maybe the ball held a bit in the pitch. Nothing great about the delivery, came in with the angle from back of a length and Watling tucked it, the only mistake he committed was that he was not the top of the bounce and tucked it uppishly towards square leg, where the fielder took a good low catch to give Australia the breather needed. Watling c Burns b Pattinson 46(77) [4s-6]

81.0 - Bird to Southee, out Caught by Smith!! Bird is suddenly turning out to be a hero for the tourists. Now, he prises out Southee. From nowhere, the hosts are hurtling towards a defeat. The outswinger from Bird, Southee prods half forward and outside edges it to Smith at second slip who moves to his left to snaffle it with both hands. Lovely probing length from Bird. Southee c Smith b Bird 0(2)

80.4 - Bird to Williamson, out Bowled!! Holy moly! Now, Williamson takes the long walk back to the hutch. He falls short of a richly deserved Test ton by a mere three runs. On expected lines, Bird and Co. are cock-a-hoop after chugging down the big fish. Fuller length delivery that nips back in, Williamson looks to drive with his feet stationed in clay and gets an inside edge onto his leg-stump. Williamson b Bird 97(210) [4s-8]

78.3 - Bird to Corey Anderson, out Bowled!! Anderson was getting edgy for a while and finally throws his wicket away against the run of play. He flashes a drive at a delivery that was bowled on a length and outside off, and ekes out an inside edge onto his middle-stump, which took a beating. Bird has reaped the reward for bowling with discipline and he is chuffed to bits. On the other hand, Anderson played with cemented feet and paid the price for it. The TV umpire was also beckoned to check for a no-ball, but Bird was fine with his front foot. Corey Anderson b Bird 40(148) [4s-5]

34.5 - Hazlewood to Brendon McCullum, out Caught by Warner!! That's it. Time's up on McCullum's international career. And quite fittingly somewhat, it's through a mistimed slog. Warner has snaffled a ripper of a catch at mid-wicket and is delighted as the big fish has been dismissed. Baz walks back to a generous round of applause from the crowd and the opposition ranks. Came charging down the track, and tried to heave a shortish delivery, but got it high up on the willow and Warner, with a superman-like leap, grabbed the catch to his right with two hands. Splendid take that from Australia's opener. Smith runs up to congratulate McCullum on his noteworthy career, followed by Warner. Thank you for all the entertainment. So long, mate! Brendon McCullum c Warner b Hazlewood 25(27) [4s-3 6s-1]

27.5 - Pattinson to Henry Nicholls, out Caught by Smith!! Pattinson is in the middle of a very good spell. He now chugs down Nicholls. Fuller length delivery that veers away a touch, Nicholls tries an airy fairy drive without moving his feet and Smith at second slip, grabs a relatively easy catch with both hands. Henry Nicholls looked uncomfortable at the crease. On the other hand, Pattinson is chuffed to bits. Henry Nicholls c Smith b Pattinson 2(10)

25.2 - Pattinson to Latham, out Caught by Nevill!! Got him, yes. Up goes the finger in a flash. That has caught some glove on the way through to Nevill. Short ball down leg which cramps Latham for room as he tries to pull it fine. Late on it too and ends up being strangled. A promising partnership comes to an end. Latham c Nevill b Pattinson 39(71) [4s-7]

4.0 - Pattinson to Guptill, out Caught by Nevill!! Pattinson makes the first incision. Pattinson did well to adjust to bowling to the right-hander after Latham played the first five deliveries of the over. Good length delivery that came in with the angle and then straightened, Guptill hung his bat outside off and eked out an outside edge to the keeper, who accepted it gleefully. Guptill's bat came down at an angle there. Guptill c Nevill b Pattinson 0(12)

53.3 - Pattinson to Williamson, 1 run, yet another inswinger from Pattinson, Williamson clips in the air and through the hands of the FSL fielder for a single. Pattinson again has his hands on his head in despair. It was a sharp chance for Burns, but those chances either stick or don't

103.5 - Pattinson to Matt Henry, 1 run, that will be fifty for Henry. Good rearguard action from the tail-ender, pushes this length delivery wide of cover and sets off for a single

101.3 - Lyon to Watling, 2 runs, and another not-very-clever premeditated sweep. Lyon fires it full down leg as Watling walked across to get into position, and he has managed to get enough bat to hit it fine for a couple. With that, the partnership is exactly worth a hundred. Amazing comeback

72.1 - Hazlewood to Williamson, no run, that's a vicious yorker from Hazlewood. Makes Williamson fall over completely and tumble on the pitch while hitting the pad. Australia are convinced this is out but the umpire doesn't think so. Smith goes up instantaneously signalling a review. That looks to be crashing into the stumps from round the wicket. But wait, has he got some bat? Slight deviation on the front-on replays. And HotSpot shows up a tiny mark on the bottom of the bat. The original decision stays. Not quite sure why the Aussies are so ruffled up. Smith walks up to the umpire and has an animated chat almost ridiculing the call. His point of view is that the HotSpot is not ball hitting bat. Lots of heated exchanges but what's the point? The decision has been made. Get on with it

51.2 - Pattinson to Corey Anderson, no run, this time around, Smith took a review. The original decision was not out. On review, the HotSpot showed that Anderson eked out an inside edge and the decision stays. Fuller length delivery that swings back into the left-hander, Anderson tried to turn it into the on-side and got an inside edge onto his front pad. Thus, the decision was not reversed

48.3 - Hazlewood to Williamson, no run, Williamson was adjudged LBW. But he took the review and the decision was overturned as he had got an inside edge onto his front pad. The HotSpot confirmed it. The inswinger that came back in late, Williamson tried to defend and eked out an inside edge. The umpire answered the appeal in the affirmative. But Williamson straightaway went up for the review and got the decision in his favour

45.3 - Pattinson to Williamson, 3 runs, fuller length delivery tha shapes away from Williamson, he drives it rather uppishly, but falls short of Lyon at backward point, who gives the chase and keeps Williamson to three runs. With it, Williamson composes his 19th Test fifty. He has played with self belief and whenever presented with an opportunity, has shown his wide range of shots

54.0 - Boult to Voges, FOUR, JOB DONE! Australia overtake India to become the number one side in Tests. Clinch the series 2-0 and retain the Trans-Tasman trophy too. Smithy is a happy man. Full and wide, Voges clobbers the drive through cover and seals the series for Australia

52.0 - Boult to Voges, FOUR, full and wide, there to be driven and Voges leans into the stroke, caresses past extra cover

47.2 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, if previous one was better, this is the best. Stays still and lifts the drive over mid-off for a one-bounce four

47.1 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, that's a lovely drive from Joe Burns. Bends his back knee and lets the bat flow through the line of the delivery, wide of extra cover and raced away

45.4 - Wagner to Smith, FOUR, "That's one of the most incredible shots I've ever seen" screams a befuddled Ian Smith on air. Well! I need a coaching manual to trace if there is a word to describe that stroke from Smithy. Let's say it's S-M-I-T-H-E-D. Only he can play that probably. Bouncer just outside off, Smith forehands it onto the ground with a vertical bat and still manages to slot it past mid-off. Like I said before, that's how you smite a fly against a wall

44.3 - Matt Henry to Burns, FOUR, another one sprayed in the wrong direction. Sliding down leg and Burns flicks with his back leg up in the air, wide of mid-wicket and a desperate Wanger's dive couldn't stop Burns from getting his 7th boundary

44.0 - Wagner to Smith, FOUR, another short ball and this time it's ill-directed, down leg and Smith sends it racing past the keeper with a lovely little wrist of the flick, on the pull

42.1 - Southee to Smith, FOUR, short and wide, Smith leans on his back leg and slaps it past point, looks in some hurry

41.2 - Wagner to Smith, FOUR, Smith has decided to counter-attack. Takes on this bouncer and pulls square on the leg-side, not quite timed but had enough legs to reach the fence

40.3 - Southee to Burns, FOUR, not this time though! Full and asking to be helped away, Burns obliges and slots the well-timed flick wide of fine leg

35.4 - Corey Anderson to Burns, FOUR, when it is short, Burns likes it. He loves playing through and over the leg-side. Dug in short again and this time Burns gets into nice position as he manufactures a pull from outside off and over mid-wicket, no stopping this

26.1 - Wagner to Khawaja, FOUR, short delivery and Khawaja makes room, there are enough empty spaces in the off-side and he upper cuts it through the sweeper cover region

24.5 - Wagner to Burns, leg byes, FOUR, bouncer and hit Burns on the back of the helmet as he tried to evade it, lobbed off and rolled down into the fine leg fence

21.3 - Boult to Khawaja, FOUR, edged and that bisected the keeper and the lone slip fielder, both the keeper and the slip fielder went for the catch but it bisected the gap perfectly. Back of a length delivery and Khawaja pushed at it from the crease, got a thick edge and the ball ran into the third man fence

17.1 - Boult to Khawaja, FOUR, that's so nonchalantly whipped off the hips. Boult is no where near as intimidating with his short stuff. Doesn't get it to climb at all and Khawaja has executed his whippy short-arm pull to perfection through square leg

16.3 - Wagner to Khawaja, FOUR, there is not a soul on the off-side. Not one. And Wagner tries to surprise Khawaja by pitching it right up on off. Expected his weight to be on the back foot. But no. Khawaja is forward to it and pushes it through the vacant expanses at mid-off down to the fence

8.1 - Wagner to Burns, FOUR, this will rub it in further. Short and wide and slapped square of the wicket. Stands tall and witheringly thwacks it away

6.4 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, they were guilty of these in the first innings, don't seem to have learnt much. Too full and with mid-off wide, it's too simple. Burns simply leans towards the ball and drives it firmly straight of mid-off

5.1 - Matt Henry to Burns, FOUR, short ball but not enough height on it. Nowhere near enough to trouble Burns. Fetches it from around waist high and pulls it hard over square leg. Australia are rattling away

2.2 - Boult to Burns, FOUR, short delivery and Burns got into a nice position, fetched the pull from well outside off and timed it beautifully, no man in the deep at mid-wicket and the ball rocketed to the fence

1.5 - Southee to Warner, FOUR, and another one, poor delivery once again, Warner cuts it uppishly, in fact got a thick top edge that flew over the fielder at gully and into the third man fence

1.4 - Southee to Warner, FOUR, short and slapped away, no chance for the fielders in the ring, a lot of width on offer, Warner rocks back and cuts it away through backward point

0.5 - Boult to Warner, FOUR, first four for a Warner and a good looking one, width on offer outside off and Warner cover drives it off the back foot, had too much time to effect it, the ball went well in front of square

39.1 - Wagner to Smith, SIX, Neil Wagner! Jeez! He's bowling his heart out. What effort! Been firing bouncers since morning and here he is still looking fresh and nearly had the Australian skipper. He huffs and puffs out after seeing the ball sail into the grass banks. Lifter at the batsman, hurried onto Smith who gets a top-edge on the pull which flies over deep square. Baz has a wry smile

47.4 - Boult to Burns, out Bowled!! Burns perishes while trying to seal this game. This time, he targets to clear mid-on with a hoick but this length delivery nipped in a little bit to miss his bat swing and disturb the timber. The bails fly high as Boult sports a frustrated glare. A little too late? Burns though gets a warm reception from the crowd as he makes his way back to the pavilion. Burns b Boult 65(162) [4s-9]

36.3 - Southee to Khawaja, out Caught by Brendon McCullum!! There it is! The first wicket of the morning and the final day of this series. Was a double bluff from Tim Southee, got some reverse swing too - After pitching two successive deliveries on a fuller length, he digs this short and lures Khawaja to have a go at it. Khawaja was cutting and punching well square of the wicket and expectedly he takes the bait. Seeks to cut and the top-edge flies at head-high to Baz who clasps with his ever-safe mitts and no real celebration. Khawaja c Brendon McCullum b Southee 45(66) [4s-4]

12.1 - Wagner to Warner, out Caught by Watling!! Warner stands there while New Zealand play out a vociferous appeal. Nothing from the umpire. They have to review this, surely! Yes, Baz signals for it. The replays are being played out on the big screen, and Warner's strode off on first glance. He knew he had gloved it. Wagner cramped him from round the wicket with a short of length delivery, got it around chest high but the line is awkward down leg stump and strangles him, still he tries to help the pull fine but can only deflect it off the gloves to Watling behind. Warner c Watling b Wagner 22(33) [4s-3]

51.2 - Boult to Voges, no run, Boult forces Baz to go for the review. It looked pretty close to the naked eye. Good length delivery nipped back in and caught Voges on the shuffle. He was trying to nudge it through leg and closed the bat face a little too early. The ball lobs off the pad and flies to slip cordon who claims the catch too. But Voges didn't get any inside edge on that one

51.1 - Boult to Smith, 1 run, 16th Test fifty for Smith. Smith tucks this length delivery into the leg-side

40.4 - Southee to Burns, 1 run, fifty for Burns! This will definitely go as one of his best knocks. Showed courage, class and determination to negate Neil Wagner's threat. All those ducking and weaving dance against the short deliveries. Good effort! Gets to the landmark with a gentle flick between square leg and short fine
