64.5 -
Hazlewood to Broad, FOUR, hammered! Lyon had a few meters to cover and he still couldn't get there. Back of a length outside off, Broad slaps it in front of square, Lyon runs to his left, dives and can't stop the ball
63.1 -
Lyon to Moeen Ali, FOUR, Ali is looking more confident. He was struggling against Lyon before lunch, but no problems this time around, dances down the wicket, meets the pitch of the ball and tonks it over mid-off for a one bounce four
61.0 -
Johnson to Moeen Ali, FOUR, third boundary of the over and that gets the crowd going. Clarke once again has a worried look on his face. His premier fast bowler is leaking runs. Pitched up outside off, Ali goes up and over mid-off, couple of bounces and into the fence

Lyon to Broad, FOUR, rare loose delivery from Lyon, half tracker outside off, Broad goes on the back foot and cracks it square of the wicket, no need to run for those as he had timed it well
56.5 -
Johnson to Moeen Ali, FOUR, Ali is almost strangled down leg. Short of a length and down leg, Ali gets inside the line and gets a feather on it, Nevill dives to his right and misses it by an inch or so
54.4 -

Lyon to Moeen Ali, FOUR, edged and four! Should have had a gully with the turn Lyon is getting. Floated up outside off, lures Ali into the drive, the outside edge flies to the left of Clarke at first slip, raced away to the fence
43.0 -
Starc to Moeen Ali, FOUR, another edge and this time Ali manages to elude the slip fielders. Good length ball in the channel around off, Ali goes searching for it, the ball takes the outside edge and goes to the left of Warner
40.2 -
Starc to Root, FOUR, bad bowling! Fuller and on the pads, Root leans forward and flicks it through mid-wicket, the timing is sweet as the ball races away. Clarke looks in despair, hangs his head down
38.5 -
Starc to Buttler, FOUR, poor stuff from Starc. Third delivery in a row that is on or outside leg-stump, Buttler leans forward and flicks it through square leg, no one bothered to chase that as it was timed superbly
38.3 -
Starc to Buttler, byes, FOUR, bonus runs for England. Big inswinger from Starc, but pitches it on leg-stump and gets it to shape further away, Nevill dives and gets both gloves, but can't make a clean stop
33.4 -
Starc to Root, FOUR, top shot! Nothing wrong with the delivery. It was on a length close to off, Root gets well forward, presents the full face of the bat and creams it through cover, the pace of Starc takes it to the fence. Came right off the meat of the bat
31.2 -
Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, still no third man and Root helps himself to another boundary. Short of a length and on off, Root rises on his toes, guides it with an angled bat to third man, Lyon gave the chase up this time around
31.1 -
Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, back of a length just outside off, Root hangs back, opens the bat face and steers it to the third man fence. Lyon gives chase but comes second

29.4 -
Hazlewood to Bairstow, FOUR, first runs of the day and it is a crisp drive from Bairstow. Overpitched outside off, Bairstow gets forward and caresses it through the vacant cover region, the timing takes it to the fence. England have taken the lead
26.3 -
Starc to Bell, FOUR, Bell gets to his 44th Test fifty. Bell would be a happy man as he has been out of form for long. He has certainly looked in regal touch in this innings, especially while driving. He gets to his 50 too with a cover-drive off a full delivery that was bowled just outside off
25.4 -
Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, full and again drifting down leg, Root flicks it wide of mid-on, Johnson is too late to get in the dive and it goes through him for a four
25.1 -
Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, fuller and outside off, Root leans into the drive superbly and finds the gap through deep extra cover fo a boundary. Even when Root essayed a ton against Sussex back in 2011, he was known for his ability to play off the back foot, but has definitely improved his front foot play
24.1 -
Starc to Root, FOUR, good length delivery that angles away from the right-hander, Root gets a thick outside edge, but thankfully for him it runs away to the boundary boards well wide of the third slip fielder
23.0 -
Starc to Bell, FOUR, Bell shows his ability to play the late cut there. He used that shot to great effect in the 2013 Ashes. He just waits for the ball to come to him and then cuts it through gully for a boundary
22.4 -
Starc to Bell, FOUR, again overpitched from Starc and Bell is right on top of the ball as he collects a boundary through square of the wicket on the off-side for a four. That shot would have brought tears of joy in the eyes of his mentor - Dominic Ostler
22.2 -
Starc to Bell, FOUR, very full and right in the slot for Bell to essay a glorious cover-drive through sweeper cover for a boundary. It was in the air for a while, but was safe
21.4 -
Hazlewood to Bell, FOUR, fuller and tempts the drive from Bell, he leans forward and gets an outside edge through third man for a boundary. It was in the air for a long time and if there was a standing gully, it would have been interesting
19.3 -
Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, poor delivery from Hazlewood as he bowls this one down leg, Root takes a heavy toll of it by glancing it through fine leg for a boundary
16.3 -
Hazlewood to Bell, FOUR, a hat-trick of fours for Bell. Poor line from Hazlewood and he pays the penalty. Good length on the pads, easily flicked away through backward square leg
16.2 -
Hazlewood to Bell, FOUR, four more, but this time off the outside edge. Hazlewood drags his length back slightly, Bell was looking for the drive once again, the ball takes the thick edge and goes through the vacant gully region
16.1 -
Hazlewood to Bell, FOUR, aaahh! A lovely looking front foot cover drive from Bell and that raced off the bat. The cover region is vacant, as Hazlewood bowls a full outswinger outside off stump, Bell leans forward and nails the drive to perfection. The crowd love it and get right behind the England batsmen
15.5 -
M Marsh to Cook, FOUR, poor ball. Short of a length and a lot of width on offer outside off stump, Cook waits for the ball to come and cuts well, doesn't bother to keep it down and sends it wide of the man at backward point
15.1 -
M Marsh to Bell, FOUR, easy pickings for Bell. Full and on the leg stump, Bell flicks it nicely through square leg, Johnson runs to his left from long leg and slides, but almost goes past it, the ball bursts through the fingers and goes for four
14.5 -
Johnson to Cook, FOUR, too straight from Johnson and that's in Cook's zone. good length delivery on the stumps, Cook gets across a bit and then flicks it nicely through mid-wicket to collect four easy runs
12.4 -
Johnson to Bell, FOUR, short but not rising much, it was leg stump line from Johnson, Bell managed to swivel across and help it on its way to the long leg boundary
12.2 -
Johnson to Bell, leg byes, FOUR, Bell wasn't sure about his footwork there. He was late to react as this length ball swung back in late and sharply into him, his front foot went across the line and hence he couldn't get bat on the glance, the ball rolls off the thigh pad to the fine leg boundary
11.4 -
M Marsh to Cook, FOUR, the inside edge is found this time. Full and just swinging back in, Cook looks to off-drive, luckily the edge misses the stumps and beats the man at fine leg
8.3 -
Starc to Cook, FOUR, lovely back foot drive from Cook. Back of a length and outside off stump, not much of swing on this one, Cook got into position early, waited for the ball to come and sent it through cover-point
8.0 -
Hazlewood to Cook, FOUR, bumper on the off stump, Cook was quick to rock back to pull, controlled that nicely as he kept it along the ground and to the left of the man at short leg
7.0 -
Starc to Lyth, FOUR, it's too straight this time and Lyth helps himself to a boundary. On a length and on leg stump line, Lyth hops and tickles it fine to beat the man at fine leg
67.1 -
Starc to Anderson, out Caught by Nevill!! End of Anderson and end of England. The Aussie openers run off as does Smith who is number three in the batting order. Full outside off, no footwork from Anderson as he pushes out and the healthy outside edge is snaffled by Nevill. He hangs on in the webbing. Nearly popped out. He will be grateful that it stuck. Anderson c Nevill b Starc 3(2)
66.3 -
Hazlewood to Moeen Ali, out Caught by Warner!! Moeen Ali falls after a fine innings. The width was there for the shot, short and wide outside off, Moeen Ali slashed hard and found Warner a few paces from the boundary ropes at third man. Warner back-pedalled and took it comfortably, reverse-cupping it onto his chest. Moeen Ali c Warner b Hazlewood 59(78) [4s-11]
65.0 -
Hazlewood to Broad, out Caught by M Marsh!! The 87-run partnership has been broken. But has the damage been done? A handy innings from Broad comes to an end. Not the best of deliveries from Hazlewood, short and outside off, Broad was better off carving it through the off-side, but instead goes for the pull and toe-ends it to mid-on, Marsh settles under it and takes it comfortably. The umpires check for a possible no-ball, but Hazlewood had some part of his foot behind the line. Broad c M Marsh b Hazlewood 31(55) [4s-3]
45.3 -
Lyon to Buttler, out Lbw!! This time Lyon has got his man. No doubt for Aleem Dar as he raised his finger in a flash. Third wicket for Lyon in as many overs. Another tossed up delivery, pitches on middle and straightens, Buttler shuffles across and plays all around it, is struck right in front of middle. He has a chat with Ali and decides against the review. However, as per HawkEye the ball was missing the stumps. In fact, it was missing it by a long way. Buttler lbw b Lyon 9(38) [4s-1]
41.0 -
Starc to Root, out Caught by Voges!! Poor cricket! Root walks back shaking his head. He is gutted with himself. Just when one thought Starc wasn't bowling well, he picks up a wicket and that too of Root. He again fires this full and outside off, Root went after it without any footwork, the outside edge goes straight to Voges at first slip. A promising stand of 40 has been broken. Root c Voges b Starc 63(75) [4s-9 6s-1]
30.5 -
Johnson to Stokes, out Caught by Nevill!! Johnson has just changed the game in 3 balls. 300 wickets becomes 301. Stokes goes without troubling the scorers. He has a look at the wicket, but no demons there. Brilliant bowling! Again the short delivery produces the wicket, it was aimed at the batsman, Stokes tried to sway out of the way, the ball kisses the glove and goes at a good height for Nevill. The Australians went up straightaway, they knew they had their man. Stokes c Nevill b Johnson 0(2)
30.3 -
Johnson to Bairstow, out Caught by Nevill!! 300th wicket for Johnson. Seems like a day of milestones. Steyn just picked his 400th in Bangladesh. It was a rip-snorter. Bairstow couldn't have done much with that. Banged in short and right at the batsman, it kept rearing at Bairstow, who leapt and tried to get out of the way, but wasn't able to do so in the nick of time, the ball brushes the glove and settles nicely into Nevill's gloves. Good start for Australia. Bairstow c Nevill b Johnson 5(12) [4s-1]
27.4 -
Lyon to Bell, out Caught by Warner!! Well, this isn't the first time that Bell has tried to use his feet and lost his wicket. Anyone remembers him getting out first ball in the first Test in India in 2012-13? It was a tossed up delivery from Lyon, Bell uses his feet to it, isn't able to come to the pitch of the ball, his bottom hand comes off the bat handle, hits it straight up in the air and Warner from short mid-wicket goes back and takes a steepler. The credit has to go to Lyon for giving it air and getting it to dip on the batsman. Bell c Warner b Lyon 53(56) [4s-10]
17.2 -
Lyon to Cook, out Caught by Voges!! Oh my word! That is an unbelievable catch. "Nooo way," is the reaction from David Gower on air after seeing that catch. Cook is gutted. He played a very good shot, but luck was on Voges' side. Short and on the stumps, asking to be put away, Cook rocked back and pulled nicely from the middle of the bat, Voges at short leg was actually ducking and didn't even look at the ball, but it came straight at him, hit the hands before hitting the stomach and he managed to clutch it onto his body. Even the cameraman thought it was four and focused towards deep mid-wicket. Cook was looking very good, but he was unlucky there. Just a shake of the head and then a smile on his face as he walks off. Cook c Voges b Lyon 34(48) [4s-5]
7.3 -
Hazlewood to Lyth, out Caught by Voges!! That's a gift, absolute gift from Lyth. Why would you chase deliveries that are way outside off stump, especially in seamer-friendly conditions. Voges almost dropped that at first slip, but he managed to grab the rebound. Good length delivery outside off stump, Lyth reaches out and drives, only to get a thick outside edge, it was the cross-seamer from Hazlewood and it went on with the angle. Voges moved to his right and tried to reverse-cup it, but it popped out. Eventually he took it on the third attempt and wore a big smile on his face. So Australia have got the early breakthrough they wanted. Lyth c Voges b Hazlewood 10(30) [4s-1]
