Dhawan and Warner were supposed to measure the same as Smith and McCullum on the Richter scale. Sadly, they don't. Here they are to prove me wrong...on a sloth pitch, which makes it all the more difficult. Senior Kumar has the ball in his hand, one slip

"Was a very difficult two-paced wicket. That very first ball, I tried for a boundary but it caught the toe of the bat. Bad batting display by our guys and well bowled by Hyderabad. Wasn't sure about what a good total is. Batting first is always tricky on a slowish wicket. 127 is, we can say, well played to Finch. Runs on the board and you never know. Let's see how it goes. We have to bowl them out to win and someone needs a magical spell. Not the easiest wicket to bat on and hope to do the right things. Key is to get wickets with the new ball. If an opportunity comes for me to bowl in the later stages, then you can see some celebrations," says a blushing Bravo (Sammy was interviewing him!)

For most part of the innings, HYD's fielding was bang on the money, too. On the other hand, Aaron Finch was the only batsman, who assessed the conditions well and cracked a well-constructed fifty. The pitch is offering assistance for the slow bowlers, but GUJ are perhaps 15-20 runs short of a winning score.

HYD put up a slick performance to restrict the visitors to a below par total. On a track that gripped a bit, GUJ's batsmen struggled to keep the scorecard ticking. It was the duo of Bhuvneshwar and Nehra, who virtually had the ball on a string and snared wickets up front. In fact, it was careful planning and brilliant execution by the opening pair. Mustafizur, Barinder and Henriques bowled with discipline and kept the lid on the scoring rate.

Over: 20 1 GUJ 126/6
Finch 51(42) P Kumar 6(4) Bhuvneshwar 4-1-28-2

19.6 - Bhuvneshwar to Finch, 2 runs, another yorker length delivery squeezed down to mid-wicket. A two was on; always is on the last ball. The throw was quicker this time and the Third Umpire in more fix. Touch and go. No dive from a tired Finch. Bat seems to be just on the inside edge of that thick white line as the LEDs light up. Given NOT OUT and he brings up his half-century as well. Oh, the drama. Blame that Warner drop at long-off

19.5 - Bhuvneshwar to Finch, 2 runs, low full toss following him but the lack of pace allowed Finch to get under it and swing. Not quite timed, but a chipped flick to deep mid-wicket fetches two. An appeal for a run out but Finch had made a diving return in -- as the keeper flicked the bails

19.4 - Bhuvneshwar to P Kumar, 1 run, crouches as he connects and slaps a single to extra cover

19.3 - Bhuvneshwar to P Kumar, FOUR, wanted to slap this through mid-off and guess where it goes - fine leg. Stretches arms but there's no bounce on this one. Under edge that has been piped wide enough of the keeper to allow a boundary. French Cut they call it

19.2 - Bhuvneshwar to Finch, 1 run, ends up making too much room, reaches out but couldn't quite connect and skews it on to his pad. Another single

19.1 - Bhuvneshwar to Finch, 2 runs, stunning how Bhuvneshwar can limit batsmen with his limited pace. Hurls in the curling yorker, Finch jams it out to long-on but the couple take two. Good running

Bhuvneshwar Kumar [3.0-1-16-2] is back into the attack

Bhuvi to bowl the last over. Has 2/16 so far

Over: 19 0 GUJ 114/6
Finch 44(38) P Kumar 1(2) Mustafizur 4-0-17-2

18.6 - Mustafizur to Finch, 1 run, Mustafizur finishes with 4-0-17-2. Another day at the office, another image promotion. Is early into this mow, inside-edges it onto his pad and runs a single as the ball rolls to point

18.5 - Mustafizur to Finch, SIX, this time he stays put and guess what, it's a six! Shunned the shimmy, Mustafizur delivered it on a length and Finch swiped it over deep mid-wicket. Crunched, if I could say. Ball's lost? Nah, they get it back

18.4 - Mustafizur to Finch, no run, ah, lovely. Gets this 144ks yorker to dip right in time. Finch had the room made, looks to slog it downtown but the dip beat him. Too good

18.3 - Mustafizur to P Kumar, 1 run, gets low given the bounce on this off-pace fuller length delivery, dabs it to cover and runs. The fielder has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. Kumar was in

18.2 - Mustafizur to P Kumar, no run, backs away, Mustafizur plonks it out on a yorker length wide of off. Kumar reaches out but misses

Praveen Kumar, right handed bat, comes to the crease

18.1 - Mustafizur to Jadeja, out Caught by Bhuvneshwar!! All too easy for him, isn't it? One lesson: do not hit him on the up. This isn't the pitch and he isn't the bowler. Never will be. Slower delivery, Jadeja was invited for the loft but ends up playing it ages early. Pops it up to the mid-off who was waiting in the ring. Jadeja c Bhuvneshwar b Mustafizur 18(13) [4s-2]

Mustafizur to Jadeja, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

Over: 18 1 GUJ 106/5
Jadeja 18(12) Finch 37(35) Nehra 4-1-23-0

17.6 - Nehra to Jadeja, 1 run, short ball rises too high but Jadeja is able to ride it well. Stands up with it, swivels and almost forces the pull to mid-wicket. 4-1-23-0 for Nehra

17.5 - Nehra to Jadeja, FOUR, that's a poor ball in all fairness. Short ball, had the width to free his arms and does so with an uppish cut. Placed it wide of backward point and got away

17.4 - Nehra to Finch, 1 run, goes for the very full length on the stumps, Finch dangerously backed away and connected to tickle it away wide of long-on

17.3 - Nehra to Finch, no run, length outside off, Finch slogs but couldn't connect

17.2 - Nehra to Finch, no run, was shuffling too early for Nehra's liking. Finch javelins this on the pad. Got it to curl in, take the pad on the full and cuts away wide of the keeper. Cleaned up

Nehra into his last. Bhuvi has one left

17.1 - Nehra to Jadeja, 1 run, lovely delivery. Jams this in the blockhole outside off, Jadeja squeezes it out to long-off and runs

Ashish Nehra [3.0-1-16-0] is back into the attack

Over: 17 2 1 0 1 4 GUJ 99/5
Jadeja 12(9) Finch 36(32) Mustafizur 3-0-9-1

16.6 - Mustafizur to Jadeja, 1 run, was in the process of pressing forward as Rahman delivered. Length, outside off and Jadeja pushes it off the splice to cover-point. Quick single to end the over. Rahman has one more over to go

16.5 - Mustafizur to Finch, 1 run, hauls his front leg in the air and works this shortish delivery to short fine. Read the pace well there and hence the sweet connection...after ages

16.4 - Mustafizur to Finch, no run, was rocking back only to see the yorker speared in. Gets his weight in front as he crouches and blocks it out. Lovely delivery

16.3 - Mustafizur to Finch, 2 runs, he ain't stopping. Gives his bat a full whack as he looks to pick this full-wide delivery, connects but mistimed over point

16.2 - Mustafizur to Finch, 2 runs, connects but it is even uglier this time. Gets an outside edge as the slower delivery trims away off the turf, Sran at third man slides to stop but fumbles. Ends up pushing it away..allowing a couple of runs

16.1 - Mustafizur to Finch, no run, you just don't try that. 120ks delivery with ounces of finger roll, Finch looks to loft but the ball scissors away and beats that shot

Mustafizur Rahman [2.0-0-3-1] is back into the attack

Time-out! Four overs to go. How much is 'unchaseable' on this pitch?

Over: 16 1 1 1 4 0 GUJ 93/5
Jadeja 11(8) Finch 31(27) Henriques 3-0-24-1

15.6 - Henriques to Jadeja, FOUR, this is good. Pierces this overpitched delivery through mid-off. Leans forward and lets the hand take over

15.5 - Henriques to Finch, 1 run, wait, let me recollect. Warner has dropped a dolly. Finch dangerously makes room to a slow full one on middle, thankfully interrupts it with a loft that's more like a chip given the fuller length. Warner runs in from long-off, overruns it in a hurry and takes it on his left thigh - as he missed the catch. Criminal drop this

15.4 - Henriques to Jadeja, 1 run, was looking to shuffle but Henriques spots it to hurl it wider. Jadeja reaches out and slaps to deep point again

15.3 - Henriques to Finch, 1 run, had the room made but Henriques bowls it at 113ks following him and Finch adjusts with a tame tuck to backward square

15.2 - Henriques to Jadeja, 1 run, this time gets the pace to cut, does so and earns a single to deep point

15.1 - Henriques to Jadeja, no run, slower delivery arrives slowly, Jadeja waits having shaped for the cut and pushes it away

Moises Henriques [2.0-0-16-1] is back into the attack

Over: 15 1 2 0 1 0 GUJ 85/5
Jadeja 5(4) Finch 29(25) Barinder 3-0-21-1

14.6 - Barinder to Jadeja, 1 run, fullish and Jadeja bunts it with a straight bat. Ugly noise when he connects. Mid-off runs across, tries to cut the run off but cannot pick the ball up

14.5 - Barinder to Jadeja, 2 runs, jerks his wrists, picks it up with a flick off his pads and a fumble by Mustafizur at fine leg allows a couple

14.4 - Barinder to Jadeja, no run, rocks back, stands higher and punches with an open bat defensively

14.3 - Barinder to Jadeja, 2 runs, splayed on the pads, Jadeja turns it round the corner for a brace

14.2 - Barinder to Finch, 1 run, stays put and pushed to deep cover in place

Ravindra Jadeja, left handed bat, comes to the crease

14.1 - Barinder to Dwayne Bravo, out Caught by (sub)V Shankar!! What a stunner! Slow pitch alright but these catches are making up for it well. And it's a catch from a substitute fielder that makes it all the more interesting. Now, now. They are checking if he has flirted with the ropes. Has he? Shortish delivery, Bravo rose up with the bounce and hacked it with a pull. Hit it well and high, Shankar was shaping up for the catch at deep mid-wicket, then saw the ball looping away and makeshifts with a last minute dive to pouch it. Umpires had issues with his slide, fearing that he may have touched the ropes but millions of camera angles and rock-and-rolls later, he has been adjudged OUT. Phew. Dwayne Bravo c (sub)V Shankar b Barinder 18(20) [4s-1]

Finch 28(24) Dwayne Bravo 18(19) Mustafizur 2-0-3-1

13.6 - Mustafizur to Finch, no run, opens up with this ball darting away but places the dab straight to backward point

More moths than runs in Hyderabad tonight

13.5 - Mustafizur to Finch, no run, speared on the pads, kept a touch low as Finch had to bow to wrist this into the leg-side

13.4 - Mustafizur to Dwayne Bravo, 1 run, had the room made early, Rahman holes it out full and slow, and Bravo pushes it wide of long-off for a single

13.3 - Mustafizur to Dwayne Bravo, no run, skids on from a length, cutter again that pitches on leg and jags to off. Bravo hurries and manages a bat on his defence, just in time

13.2 - Mustafizur to Dwayne Bravo, no run, pushes this quicker and fuller, Bravo crouches and clips it to mid-wicket

13.1 - Mustafizur to Dwayne Bravo, no run, slower delivery on leg-stump and cutting across off, Bravo hops and defends it with a closed bat

Mustafizur Rahman [1.0-0-2-1] is back into the attack

Over: 13 0 1 1 0 1 GUJ 78/4
Finch 28(22) Dwayne Bravo 17(15) Nehra 3-1-16-0

12.6 - Nehra to Finch, no run, length delivery from Nehra, defended back towards the bowler. Nehra is perhaps deliberately looking to run from behind the umpire to make sure that the batsman does not pick him early

12.5 - Nehra to Dwayne Bravo, 1 run, fuller length delivery and outside off, Bravo slices it to third man

Bravo pulls out just when Nehra was about to bowl. Maybe a fly has gone in his eye.

12.4 - Nehra to Dwayne Bravo, 2 runs, good length delivery and zooming in on the stumps, Bravo punches it in the air to long-on. Brisk running between the wickets result in a couple

12.3 - Nehra to Dwayne Bravo, no run, Nehra yanks his length back on this delivery, defended back towards the bowler

12.2 - Nehra to Dwayne Bravo, FOUR, from round the wicket, Nehra spears it down leg, Bravo flicks it past the short fine leg fielder and it beats the man at the fence with clockwork precision

12.1 - Nehra to Finch, 1 run, slower ball and just outside off, Finch lifts it to long-off. He did not exactly time that one though

11.6 - Barinder to Finch, 1 run, Barinder rolls his fingers on this delivery, too, Finch clips it to backward square leg. Maybe HYD's seamers are looking to get the ball to grip on what is a rather dry wicket

11.5 - Barinder to Dwayne Bravo, 1 run, the off-pace delivery from Barinder, Bravo punches it to sweeper cover

11.4 - Barinder to Finch, 1 run, length delivery and outside off, Finch cuts it to sweeper cover, but can't pierce the gap

11.3 - Barinder to Dwayne Bravo, 1 run, slanted away from Bravo, he stays slightly leg-side of the ball and dabs it to third man

11.2 - Barinder to Finch, 1 run, full toss from Barinder, Finch taps it to long-on

11.1 - Barinder to Finch, FOUR, banged in short delivery and Barinder bowls it outside off, Finch pulls it to the deep backward square leg fence, where Hooda puts in a dive, but does not succeed in his endeavour

10.4 - Yuvraj to Finch, 1 run, Finch flogs it square on the off-side for another single

10.3 - Yuvraj to Dwayne Bravo, 1 run, too straight from Yuvraj, clipped to mid-wicket

10.2 - Yuvraj to Dwayne Bravo, 2 runs, excellent effort by Williamson at backward point to clasp a skier, but can't get to the ball. Bravo tries to lift a delivery that was bowled slower through the air and outside off and gets it off the toe-end, Kane runs backwards, but the ball eludes him. Mustafizur tidies up

Dwayne Bravo, right handed bat, comes to the crease

7.4 - Henriques to Brendon McCullum, out Caught by Warner!! HYD are firing on all cylinders today. Exemplary grab by Warner at long-off. The slower one from Henriques, McCullum waltzes down the track as he attempts to lift it over long-off, but mistimes it. Warner from long-off, runs to his right and then puts in a dive to snare the catch. He celebrates with a fist pump even before tumbling onto the ground. Brendon McCullum c Warner b Henriques 7(19)

The umpire has raised the finger. Well, it was another slower one from wide of the crease by Rahman, Karthik was opened up a bit. He then got a leading edge towards Williamson at gully, who dived to his left and then snaffled the catch by getting his fingers just underneath. Remember, it was his non-dominant hand. 5.1 - Mustafizur to Brendon McCullum, 1 run, Dhawan has dropped McCullum and that might cost HYD dear. He is the sort of batsman who can cause a lot of damage. The off-cutter from Rahman, McCullum looks to bury it over the off-side and gets it off the toe-end towards Dhawan at backward point, who runs backwards and tumbles. His right shoulder thudded into the surface and that perhaps resulted in him dropping the chance. In fact, he took it on first attempt, but the ball slipped out. Hurrah! The clock hits 12, but I'm yet to have my dinner. Let's bring curtains for today as we need to feed all the weekend waltz tomorrow. On behalf of Pro-fuss-null Pratyush Sinha, Cricketwitterian Bharath Ramaraj (He breathes English cricket and has county cricket updates for breakfast in case you aren't aware), this is Raju Peethala bidding goodbye! Have a rollicking weekend fellas! Thanks for stopping by at this destination. Scorer Sreenivas says Cheerio!

"Being a new ball bowler you need to strike early. Picking up wickets up front is the key. I look to swing with the new ball and take wickets. I ate 3 or 4 insects, it actually went down the throat (smiles - Well! There was a moth-mafia at the pitch today). I don't tell him anything. He is most difficult to pick. I must say he (Mustafizur Rahman) is the one taking off the pressure from me and Ashish Nehra," Bhuvi with a cheeky grin as he receives the Man of the Match award.

"I wasn't really tensed towards the end to be honest. We lost a couple of wickets early. That can put a lot of pressure on the rest of the batters, but the way Shikhar went about his innings was brilliant. I don't think it's a 120 wicket; I'm pleased with the way our bowlers are going at the moment. I think they can still work on a few more things and same with the bowlers. I certainly misjudged the depth of that catch. Look, we are all humans and we make mistakes. No-one wants to drop a catch. The crowd are fantastic here. They came out and supported us every game. Hope to see them again for the rest of the games" fizzes out a friendly-looking Davey Warner

"We bowled pretty well. To defend that target is not easy but I think credit must go to HYD for restricting us to that total. We fought really hard with the ball. Shikhar took the responsibility and he batted really well. We need to be more positive regarding our batting plan. We cannot afford to lose that many wickets in the first 6 overs. I'm not sure what happened with Finch and I will go and check now (Hope he's fine). It's not about losing or winning, it's about how well we apply ourselves. Bravo bowled really well and hope we will get back to winning ways," whispers an optimistic Suresh Raina

It has been a forgettable night for Gujarat, clearly nothing went their way. In the end, a convincing victory for Hyderabad. Warner, as usual came out all guns firing and pummeled 16 runs off the second over. He didn't last long though, throwing his wicket away to Dhawal Kulkarni. HYD lost their way in the chase with a couple of quick wickets, but Shikhar Dhawan held the innings together and struck a breezy 47. He along with Naman Ojha applied the finishing touches and helped HYD cross the finish line in the penultimate over. The visitors will rue the fact that they didn't have enough runs on the board. Dhawal Kulkarni, Dwayne Bravo and Praveen Kumar were the pick of the bowlers.

18.6 - P Kumar to Dhawan, FOUR, HYD have made a BIRYANI (Read: mockery) out of the GUJ target. Dhawan steps to leg and anticipates a full ball around off-stump, he gets what he wanted and spanks the cover drive to claim the winning runs. Warner and Co. are elated. Plenty of handshakes and hugs among the players

18.5 - P Kumar to Dhawan, FOUR, you cannot bowl there to Dhawan. Just cannot. Full at the toes and what does Dhawan do - He shuffles slightly and smack-bangs the flick to deep backward square fence

18.4 - P Kumar to N Ojha, 1 run, biffs one towards point and acknowledges the call from Dhawan this time

18.4 - P Kumar to N Ojha, wide, ohh! DK isn't impressed and so is PK. It was a slower delivery bowled on Sunday and arrived on Tuesday (Pun intended). The slower short ball which refuses to rise and Ojha had to wait for an eternity to decide on the shot. In the end he sees the leather sailing across him. He is baffled and that canny look might have fooled the umpire. Not a wide according to me

18.3 - P Kumar to N Ojha, FOUR, KABOOM! This might just ease the nerves. Full, in the slot for Ojha who bludgeons it high and over the bowler's head. No chance for long-on and long-off

18.2 - P Kumar to N Ojha, no run, hurls it full and just outside off, Ojha drives crisply to extra cover and Dhawan is excited for a quick single. Sent back and he dives back in time. Must have had his heart in his mouth for a fleeting moment

17.5 - Dwayne Bravo to Dhawan, 1 run, off-pace goodish length ball outside off, punched ever so sweetly to the right of cover where Raina dives and hurts himself in the process

17.4 - Dwayne Bravo to Dhawan, 2 runs, another check for run-out but Dhawan's safe. Makes it with a desperate dive. Chopped this behind backward point and wanted two, Ojha responds and that well-timed dive saved Dhawan

17.3 - Dwayne Bravo to N Ojha, 1 run, that's the "French cut" as Mel Jones loves to call it. Full outside off, Ojha looks to force that through the off-side and the inside edge sneaks past the timbers

16.4 - Shivil to Deepak Hooda, FOUR, clobbered! But Bravo makes it look better by conceding a boundary. Through his legs at wide long-off. Hooda nailed the drive from outside off and Bravo from long-off couldn't time the bend-and-field theory to perfection

16.3 - Shivil to Dhawan, leg byes, 1 run, lemme tell you this: Dhawan is struggling to pick Shivil Kaushik. He is making him look like Shane Warne. Yet again tries a rash leg-side shot on this flighted delivery and misses. Go steal a leg bye...

2.2 - P Kumar to Dhawan, 1 run, drives on the up to mid-off who intercepts it clean. Parries it back and hits the stumps at the bowler's end. Dhawan was unsure to run the extra but Warner was halfway with his long strides. Dhawan just responds in kind

2.1 - P Kumar to Warner, 1 run, 129ks and dipping right into the blockhole, Warner hurries to get his bat down and blocks it out to point

Warner 22(11) Dhawan 0(1) Sangwan 1-0-16-0

1.6 - Sangwan to Warner, 1 run, child's play, these fields. Shortish ball again but too much width to fetch it with a pull. Warner instead hops back and dabs it uppishly to third man. 16 runs off the over

1.5 - Sangwan to Warner, SIX, the ground is big enough. Every ground is for Warner. Sangwan bangs this in short (is that the stare?), Warner rises up with the bounce and pummels it with an intended uppish pull over mid-wicket

1.4 - Sangwan to Warner, no run, was on the move to make room for a loft over mid-on. Gets cramped for room by the fullish length and skews it off the inner half into the leg-side

1.3 - Sangwan to Warner, no run, goes length and gets some shape outside off, Warner throws his bat and misses. And... Sangwan lets out a stare

1.2 - Sangwan to Warner, SIX, BOOM! Pounds it on back of a length but Warner goes straight down the ground. The bounce helps him time the loft over Sangwan's head

1.2 - Sangwan to Warner, wide, back of a length but down leg, wided

1.1 - Sangwan to Warner, 2 runs, Bravo made a near miss of it at deep square leg. Fumbles and then ends up kicking it away...and then loses the sight. Recovers in time to stop the ball rolling over. A pick-up flick given the shortish length, executed well and it fetched two- only two

Pradeep Sangwan, comes into the attack

Dhawan 0(1) Warner 7(5) P Kumar 1-0-7-0

0.6 - P Kumar to Dhawan, no run, inswinger drifts down leg, Dhawan is slow to tickle it away and the ball takes the pad. Keeper leaps right to collect a good- low catch but no bat on that

0.5 - P Kumar to Warner, 1 run, dabs with an open bat and shiplifts a single to backward point

0.4 - P Kumar to Warner, FOUR, wow. Length ball, not much width and he's shamed that away. Gets taller, punches on the up and cleaves the gap between mid-off and extra cover

0.3 - P Kumar to Warner, 2 runs, good running between the wickets. Do they have wheels? Tickles one off his pads to short fine, calls immediately and completes it

0.2 - P Kumar to Warner, no run, this one holds in the pitch and stands up. Warner arrests his shot and chips it short of cover, as he jerks his back

0.1 - P Kumar to Warner, no run, shaped away from a fullish length, Warner opened up with the swing and dabs it away easily. Pace giving him all the time there

Warner and Dhawan are at the crease. Warner is on strike. P Kumar will open the attack
