445, 425, 415 and 379 - scores at Trent Bridge in the last four innings in the Royal London Cup. Those numbers give you a fair idea as to how the pitch plays and Sri Lanka are way below par. The surface has nothing in it for the bowlers, apart from a bit of slow turn, and England are the favourites as Sri Lanka have only one spin bowling option. However, the visitors have won 11 of the last 16 ODIs against England at home. So, we are set up for an intriguing run-chase. Roy and Hales out in the middle and so are the Sri Lankan players. Lakmal going through his run-up. Only one slip, bit surprising that Mathews is already on the defensive. Umpire Rob Bailey calls PLAY and off we go...

But a lack of a ruthless late surge means that the chase looks on, with no Ramsay Boltons in the pitch or prevalent ODI rules to suggest otherwise. Join us back to see how and how well can Sri Lanka execute the attempted choke.

The world dynamics haven't changed and nor have the bats. And no, the Super Series, which currently stands at 10-2, is still only midway. The format has, since the last time these two sides met. Looking snug in coloured clothing, on a flattish pitch, under sunny skies but in front of a crowd as disciplined, the start for them wasn't quite perfect as Willey stabbed twice. 56/3 to begin an ODI can border on criminal nowadays, but the fact that Sri Lanka scored them quick and that Prasanna's bludgeoning 28-ball 59 followed didn't hamper them much. Mathews was like that forever puppet of circumstances, today taking on the duties to rebuild with Chandimal and then lived on a little longer to walk back for 73.

49.6 - Woakes to Maharoof, out Lakmal Run Out!! 1 run completed. "It's an okay score on a wonderful pitch" sums up Bumble (David Lloyd) on air. Exactly what I wanted to say. Coming to the final ball: Maharoof drills this towards a forward sprinting long-on and calls for a non-existent second. Lakmal responds and had to hurry his way through towards the bowler's end. The throw came in on Saturday and poor Lakmal arrived on Monday. Too late Lakmal, too late. Woakes had the easiest of jobs - flicking the bails after receiving a laser-sharp throw... Lakmal run out (Willey/Woakes) 7(8)

Woakes to Maharoof, THAT'S OUT!! Run Out!!

49.5 - Woakes to Lakmal, 1 run, shuffles way outside his off-stump and flicks this full delivery to fine leg, not quite where he intended but he will take a single

49.4 - Woakes to Maharoof, 1 run, crouches on seeing the ball splayed wide, slices the drive to sweeper cover

49.3 - Woakes to Lakmal, 1 run, hurries the batsman with a pacy bumper, Lakmal miscues the pull straight down the ground, single again

49.2 - Woakes to Maharoof, 1 run, fullish and following the batsman, Maharoof hangs back and flicks in the air, up and over mid-wicket. Only for a single though...

49.1 - Woakes to Maharoof, no run, low full toss outside off, driven straight to the bearded man Moeen Ali at mid-off

Over: 49 1 1 1 1 1L 1 SL 281/8
Maharoof 28(26) Lakmal 5(6) Willey 10-0-56-2

48.6 - Willey to Maharoof, 1 run, the crowd quite mockingly cheer ROOOOOOOOT and why is that? Joseph Edward Root has dropped a dolly, an absolute dolly. Maharoof jerks his wrists on this uppish flick and chips it off the toe-end, straight towards the incoming man at long-on. Only Root should know how he dropped that. Another day Rooty, another day...

48.5 - Willey to Lakmal, leg byes, 1 run, slow at the pads, Lakmal looks to tickle it fine, not off the willow. His pads help him get to the other end

48.4 - Willey to Maharoof, 1 run, full and juicy outside off, drilled to long-off

48.3 - Willey to Lakmal, 1 run, rib-tickler perhaps, Lakmal keeps it down in front of short mid-wicket and just marathons to the other end

48.2 - Willey to Maharoof, 1 run, Sri Lankan tailenders continue to milk singles, another one down to long-off

48.1 - Willey to Lakmal, 1 run, back of a length outside off, bunted to long-off

47.6 - Woakes to Lakmal, 1 run, just jabs it off the back foot towards mid-off and sneaks in a single. Useful runs these...

47.5 - Woakes to Maharoof, 1 run, shouts of two as Maharoof biffed this towards long-on but there was never a two there and the duo, rightfully don't risk it either

47.4 - Woakes to Maharoof, FOUR, that's a gimme from Chris Woakes. Fine leg inside the circle and he bowls a short delivery way down leg, Maharoof sees it early - Gets inside the line of the delivery and pulls it nonchalantly into the fine leg fence

47.3 - Woakes to Lakmal, 1 run, a little backward shimmy followed by a nudge to short mid-wicket

47.2 - Woakes to Maharoof, 1 run, targetting the pads is Chris Woakes, Maharoof ain't giving any of that at the moment, shuffles hurriedly and dinks down to long-on

47.1 - Woakes to Lakmal, 1 run, fullish at the stumps, Lakmal pushes it to deep mid-on and is off the mark with a single

Mathews 73(109) Maharoof 19(20) Plunkett 10-0-67-2

46.6 - Plunkett to Mathews, out Caught by Woakes!! Oh! Commentator's curse they say. Alas! Angelo Mathews departs after a splendid knock - The Sri Lankan dressing room stand up on their feet and clap their skipper on his way to the pavilion. "A controlled knock" as MJ describes it on air. Full and dipping in at his toes, Mathews tries to clear mid-wicket with an aerial flick, was a smidge early on the shot. And thus leading edge comes into play, popping a sitter to long-off. Mathews c Woakes b Plunkett 73(109) [4s-5]

Plunkett to Mathews, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

46.5 - Plunkett to Maharoof, 1 run, another single through the same region

46.4 - Plunkett to Maharoof, 2 runs, very full at the stumps, flicked through mid-wicket

46.3 - Plunkett to Maharoof, SIX, oh! Didn't see this coming... That's an elegant slog, yep he did play it elegantly. Sat up nicely outside off and Maharoof just twirled his wrists on the whippy slog and deposits into the deep backward square galaxy...

46.2 - Plunkett to Maharoof, no run, that's an ugly bat swipe from Farveez Maharoof. This length ball jagged back in off the seam and Maharoof played the slog a day early

46.1 - Plunkett to Mathews, 1 run, right in the blockhole, Mathews digs it down to long-on

Liam Plunkett [9.0-0-57-1] is back into the attack

24 balls left. Can Mathews get to his hundred? I would say a firm "no" at this stage. Let's see if he can prove me wrong...

Mathews 72(107) Maharoof 10(16) Woakes 8-0-42-2

45.6 - Woakes to Mathews, 1 run, thumped to extra cover and Mathews can now breathe a sigh of relief

45.5 - Woakes to Mathews, no run, that's the kind of line and length you would bowl on the first day of a Test match. On a good length and right in that area where most of the right-handers feel for the ball, Mathews fences with hard hands and is lucky not to have nicked that

45.4 - Woakes to Maharoof, 1 run, Maharoof emulates his skipper, but he hasn't timed as well as his skipper did, single in the same area

45.3 - Woakes to Mathews, 1 run, slower on middle, gives Mathews ample time to swivel and pull it down to deep square

45.2 - Woakes to Mathews, no run, 85.8mph, hits the deck hard on a back of a length, Mathews hops and buries it onto the pitch

45.1 - Woakes to Maharoof, 1 run, wider of off, Maharoof opens the face of the bat and dabs it square on the off-side

45.1 - Woakes to Maharoof, wide, length ball arrowed down leg, Maharoof doesn't bother with it. umpire Paul Reiffel takes his own, sweet time and then turns around to stretch his arms...

44.6 - Willey to Mathews, 2 runs, wayward lines this to be honest, Mathews will keep ticking those all day. He moves into 70s with a gentle flick behind square. Also brings up Sri Lanka's 250

44.5 - Willey to Maharoof, 1 run, slower ball sat up nicely outside off, Maharoof presents the full face of the bat as he punches it past the non-striker. Willey tries to field it with his beat but couldn't do so

44.4 - Willey to Mathews, 1 run, around middle and leg, clipped away behind square leg

44.3 - Willey to Maharoof, 1 run, slower ball angled across just outside off, Maharoof goes for a cross-batted slog and mistimes it towards long-on

44.2 - Willey to Mathews, 1 run, camps back and tucks it off his hip and is content with a single

44.1 - Willey to Maharoof, 1 run, 80mph, full and straight, Maharoof clears his front leg rather awkwardly and powers it down to long-on

43.5 - Plunkett to Maharoof, no run, this delivery holds on the pitch for a fleeting moment and Maharoof is forced to check his tuck shot, chips in the air and tamely dribbles in front of short mid-wicket

43.4 - Plunkett to Maharoof, no run, back of a length outside off, Maharoof leans on his back leg and tries to punch it past the man at mid-off, instead mistimes it straight to the fieldsman

43.3 - Plunkett to Maharoof, no run, right behind the line of this length ball, pushing forward with soft hands

43.2 - Plunkett to Maharoof, no run, bumper fired at 82mph, slanted across Maharoof who gets into a bit of tangle but manages to evade it with head tiliting down late

43.1 - Plunkett to Mathews, 1 run, tip-and-run single from the Lankan skip. Just rises on his toes and drops the length ball towards point and runs...

The dimunitive James Taylor is seen commentating for BBC in the press box. Good to see him back in the action...

42.5 - Willey to Mathews, 1 run, dipping in around middle and leg, Mathews on-drives with a closed bat face, wide of long-on

42.4 - Willey to Maharoof, 1 run, fullish at 78mph, inviting the drive, Maharoof obliges and silks off the toe-end, down to long-off for a single

42.3 - Willey to Mathews, 1 run, another slower ball on a similar length, forces Mathews to hop and tuck it towards mid-wicket

42.2 - Willey to Mathews, no run, shortish and slower outside off, bunted into the off-side

42.1 - Willey to Mathews, FOUR, finesse from the Sri Lankan skipper. The off-cutter sprayed down leg, he shuffles a fraction and plays a late glance to run it past the keeper. The bat turned in his hands on impact but he did time it well enough I reckon

41.4 - Moeen Ali to Maharoof, 1 run, around the pads, nudged behind square for a single

41.3 - Moeen Ali to Mathews, 1 run, eased down to long-off

41.2 - Moeen Ali to Mathews, FOUR, Mathews loves spinners, doesn't he? Remember that game in Delhi (T20 WC) where he almost batted England out of the game! This time he skates down, isn't quite to the pitch of the delivery but still goes through with the cross-batted heave-ho. Not quite off the middle, but enough power to bisect deep mid-wicket and long-on

41.1 - Moeen Ali to Maharoof, 1 run, gently tossed up just outside off, Maharoof turns it in the gap at mid-wicket and scampers...

40.5 - Willey to Maharoof, 1 run, a full ball has been neatly driven through the covers, ROOF is off the mark with a single

40.4 - Willey to Mathews, 1 run, this one held back a little as Mathews goes back and across to clip it into the leg-side, easy single

40.3 - Willey to Mathews, no run, similar lines again, Mathews slides across to tap it into the off-side

40.2 - Willey to Mathews, no run, just outside off, Mathews bunts it down

40.1 - Willey to Mathews, out Dasun Shanaka Run Out!! Brilliant work from Plunkett, brilliant work from England. Mathews drives this full delivery to the right of extra cover and briefly waited to see if the ball had gone past him. Unfortunately for him and Sri Lanka, it didn't. The big boy Liam Plunkett dives full length to his right and engulfs the ball in his palms. Dasun Shanaka was nowhere in the picture, was half-way down and Plunkett didn't panic. Just composes himself and lobs the ball to Willey who does the rest. Dasun Shanaka run out (Plunkett/Willey) 20(19) [4s-1 6s-1]

39.6 - Woakes to Mathews, 1 run, very full outside off, in fact Mathews takes it on the low full toss by reaching across and pushes through the covers

39.5 - Woakes to Dasun Shanaka, 1 run, back of a length outside off, cracked through the covers

39.5 - Woakes to Dasun Shanaka, wide, bumper but it's looping away down the leg-side, Shanaka has ducked underneath it but would have been fine even if he hadn't. Wide signalled

39.4 - Woakes to Dasun Shanaka, no run, a little lackadaisical. Dangles an angled bat away from the body to glide it down to third man but is beaten for pace. The odds don't quite add up when you offer so little of the willow

39.3 - Woakes to Mathews, 1 run, back of a length, on middle, clipped through square leg

39.2 - Woakes to Mathews, no run, short of length delivery outside off, Mathews hops and drops it with soft hands into the off-side

39.1 - Woakes to Dasun Shanaka, 1 run, chipped in the air, but just wide of mid-wicket. Full ball honing in on middle, Shanaka times it nicely without bothering to keep it down, there's a scare for a moment but he's placed it well. 38.5 - Willey to Dasun Shanaka, 1 run, bunted away to mid-on, softly. Willey doesn't quite have the pace to hurt Shanaka

38.4 - Willey to Mathews, 1 run, yes sir, fifty for Mathews. Excellent batting acumen, playing the situations shrewdly as ever. Fraction full outside off, pushes to long-off and garners all the applause

38.3 - Willey to Dasun Shanaka, 1 run, full and drifting across off, firmly punched to the right of Plunkett at extra-cover but the pacer isn't quick enough to bend and parries a single to long-off

38.2 - Willey to Mathews, 1 run, eased down to long-off. Inching towards another half-century

Drinks are on the field now! Wasn't that an interesting passage of play! Prasanna tore into the English attack, pace and spin alike, and teased Lankan hopes of racking it up in the final few overs. But just like that, those hopes have come crashing down with England striking back and picking 2 wickets in 2 overs. From here, Sri Lanka should aim to bat out the overs first..

5.3 - Willey to Kusal Mendis, no run, Willey yanks his length back on this delivery a touch, pushed to backward point

3.5 - Willey to Kusal Mendis, no run, good length delivery and on off-stump, Mendis gets an inside edge on his drive towards mid-on. Willey only has a slip in place, which is rather surprising

3.4 - Willey to Kusal Mendis, no run, short and wide, Mendis crunches the cut, but can't tailor the gap through backward point, who made a sharp save

3.3 - Willey to Gunathilaka, out Caught by Bairstow!! The man from Panadura, Gunathilaka, has been chugged down early. Late swing for Willey yet again, but this time around, he got his line and length right. 1.5 - Willey to K Perera, no run, another one that is speared down leg, Perera looks to tuck it around the corner, but can't make the connection. It hit one of the straps on the pad and the keeper dived to his right to take it cleanly. The muted appeal for a strangle down the leg-side turned down

1.5 - Willey to K Perera, wide, fullish and sliding down leg, Perera can't get any bat on it, signalled as a wide. Willey generated swing on that ball, but the radar was wrong

You don't need theatres for emotions, you don't need sitcoms for chuckles, you don't need social circles for companionship. If ODIs be like this, you need anything but cricket. In addition, you need a television set, a couch and a strong heart to burp out all the excitement. This match was plainly a roller-coaster.. a roller-coaster that only went up. Such thrill, such excitement right upto the last ball. A Lord's draw has repercussions. Anything Lord's has. A draw at Trent Bridge follows a draw at Lord's, albeit in a different format, and the Super Series now stands at 11-3. Join us for S02E02 on Friday. Till then, it's a good night from Pratyush Sinha on behalf of my colleagues Akshay Maanay, Raju Peethala, birthday boy Bharath Ramaraj, Sagar Chawla and Siva. Ta-ta!

Here how (my brains and) the match exploded to life: 40 off the last 3 overs.. 30 off the last 2 overs.. a 16-run over from Lakmal.. 14 runs off the last over.. that three which should have been a two on the match's penultimate ball.. And Sri Lanka let a match slip from under clinched fists. How? Cricket, that's how.

Woakes: "It's been a good game. We were in a bit of a hole. Shame Jos couldn't get to three figures after batting brilliantly. When we and Jos were in the middle of the partnership, we felt like we were ticking over nicely and could take it deep. Obviously the guys that followed played well. I suppose when you need 10 off 2, you have to start clearing the ropes. But they bowled well in the back end, hit the hole. But for Plunkett to hit it like that was incredible. I was struggling, couldn't find the fence in the early part. But then I started finding the fence."

Chris Woakes is Man of the Match for his all-round effort.

Morgan: "To come out of it with a tie is pleasing in a way. A performance like that can mask a poor day. Three special mentions. Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett towards the end there got us out of a hole. We did need the batting depth. We have a lot of confidence with the guys coming in down the order but we don't want to leave them with too much to do. Jos called in on all his experience to guide the innings through. And Chris Woakes played with a lot of confidence in the last 10 overs. I thought we were rusty with the ball and didn't hit our lengths. But the score was chaseable."

Mathews: "Not really sure. We had the game in our bag for most of the overs. But the yorker unfortunately fell off and Plunkett smashed it for six. Yeah it happens [asked about Pradeep]. We were 15-20 runs light I thought. As I said we kept losing wickets at crucial times and we had to push back the attacking roles.Lots of positives, we batted well, bowled well but we were poor in the field. The hamstring is a little bit stiff so we will give it a couple of days and see how it goes."

What a match. At the halfway mark, it didn't threaten a contest with the T20 WC having done enough to inspire a long-term confidence in England. World stages often do that, but the old demons revisited. Sri Lanka took the pace off rightaway in the form of Mathews - who hobbled back later to signify change in fortunes - as England plummeted to 82/6. Cutters, pace or the lack of it and mental cobwebs too stubborn to let go being the limiters. But then followed a gargantuan partnership between Buttler and Woakes, bordering on daunting, perhaps even surreal, to brilliantly encash the psychological dent derived from Mathew's injury time-out. Sri Lanka looked flayed. Match looked headed downstream until the older ball switched allegiance to Sri Lanka again. Yorker machinaries came into being, runs were choked but sadly, the fielding was a blemish grander than Donald Trump's POTUS campaign.

"It was nice to get one out of the ground. We were backing ourselves and wanted to take it as deep as possible. I fancied my chances and told myself hopefully he misses it by a few inches. Just shows the batting depth we have got and it was a superb effort from Woakesy too," huffs and puffs Liam Plunkett

Plunkett 22(11) Woakes 95(92) Pradeep 10-0-64-2

49.6 - Pradeep to Plunkett, SIX, I cannot believe it. I just cannot. Two runs were on on the last ball, the English batsmen ran three and guess what, this ball ropeways out for a maximum for this match to be tied. Crazy, plain crazy. Fullish delivery - always a drivel ball to bowl it at this stage although it was an intended yorker that failed miserably - and Plunkett could get under it enough and lofted it handsomely over long-off. Prasanna's whirlwind innings, Mathews patient revival and Sri Lanka's hard work with the ball upfront have been inundated by their fielding mediocrity. Hosepiped rather. A game to win, worked hard to get there after a total that looked below par and then flushed it all down the drains. Woakes walks back with a raised bat, a smile and without a six that he would have wanted to hit instead of Plunkett

ODIs in England nowadays are like F.R.I.E.N.D.S - always a hit

49.5 - Pradeep to Woakes, 3 runs, that was a loot. Two runs it should have been and the batsmen have dived their way back. More like Plunkett as Pradeep dug it full and Woakes somehow squeezed it out to fine leg with a shuffle. Somehow. Should have been only a couple but kilos of intent and lack of gym work in the deep means three runs. Kusal Mendis from deep backward square leg gave a chase that looked like a vehicle low on fuel, he lazed off as he slid to field and the throw was the worst of all - Wide and dipping in front of the keeper as Shanaka stood behind Chandimal and trying to attract a quicker throw at the cost of his vocal chords. 6 runs for a tie!

49.4 - Pradeep to Woakes, no run, he's churning out stunners. Another yorker stalking Woakes down leg who kept it out somehow as he swung, got it back to the bowler but had to run the single. He had to. Does, then gives up the attempt to make it back to the crease and Pradeep's throw misses the stumps.. almost grazes it to just teasingly deny

49.3 - Pradeep to Plunkett, 1 run, late swing on this to land right in the blockhole. Plunkett moves a little leg-side, swings but the dip beat him there. Somehow kept it out on the pitch and ran a single

49.2 - Pradeep to Woakes, 1 run, lovely yorker. Woakes did well to get his back leg out or his boot would have been boomed. Could still run

49.1 - Pradeep to Woakes, 2 runs, oh, Plunkett ran for his life there. A slow ball on a length, Woakes flat-batted it down to long-off who threw it flat to Pradeep but the ball dipped to hit his shin, allowing Plunkett to come back

48.6 - Lakmal to Woakes, 1 run, whacks a full toss off the pads to mid-wicket

48.5 - Lakmal to Woakes, FOUR, Maharoof is on his back at the fine leg fence. This scoop from Woakes looked well timed - shuffled across and went way outside off to take a toll of this full toss. Maharoof thought he could chase the ball from short fine, couldn't and the disappointment pulled him down. 15 runs in 7 balls needed! What drama this. What were England again, how many for 5 down? Highest score by a no. 8 batsman in ODIs this

48.4 - Lakmal to Plunkett, 1 run, the stumps were more exposed than.. can't fathom why Lakmal decided to follow the batsman down leg and see a single jammed to long-on rather uglyly (is that a word?)

48.3 - Lakmal to Woakes, 1 run, nicely dips in wide of off on a yorker length and Woakes pokes his hands out and pulps a single out to deep point

48.3 - Lakmal to Plunkett, 2 wides, tries to follow the batsman but gets it too leg-sidish, this yorker length delivery. And they run seeing the ball slightly wide of the keeper's radar

48.2 - Lakmal to Plunkett, FOUR, now a full toss on the pads to which Plunkett shuffles across early and scoops it through fine leg

48.1 - Lakmal to Woakes, 3 runs, messy, messy brilliance that. Almost makes a mess at deep point as Woakes squeezes it out and times it dangerously well until the fielder intervenes, fields, lets it go, uses his armpits to field again and then has to turn around on his hips to seek the ball.. Oh!

Two overs to go, 30 runs to get. Odds against an English win? I would rather be bold and say that they are in the favour..

47.5 - Maharoof to Woakes, 2 runs, Maharoof isn't happy after Woakes uses his feet to tame the bounce with a front foot swat. The long-on fielder is a touch late and the batsmen a touch quick to complete the single

47.4 - Maharoof to Woakes, FOUR, a timed boundary, metaphorically and otherwise. Gets a full ball as Woakes stayed in his crease, removed the front foot blockade and lifts it for a one-bounce four over Maharoof's head

39.5 - Pradeep to Buttler, 1 run, full length on middle, biffed to deep mid-on

39.4 - Pradeep to Buttler, no run, looks to glance this full delivery fine but misses by a whisker, takes the pad en route to the keeper

39.3 - Pradeep to Buttler, 2 runs, a better throw and Buttler would have ran straight into the dressing room! He clipped this wide of deep backward square and called for an ill-advised second run, as mentioned earlier the throw was wayward

39.2 - Pradeep to Woakes, 1 run, a direct hit would have been tight! Dipping full ball on the stumps, Woakes meekly nudges it towards short mid-wicket and is off and running towards the other end. The fielder swoops in and aims, only to miss it by a healthy few inches. Instead hits Woakes arm who's sprinting and striding full length. The physio is out and there's some formal rubbing and patting going on. Now Woakes consumes a pain-killer as the gangly Steven Finn looks on with a set of drinks in his hand. Buttler looks steady as ever. Woakes now composes himself to clean his helmet. On go the gloves and the rest of the cricketing equipments...we are ready to go. Action please!

38.4 - Maharoof to Woakes, 1 run, pushed down the ground towards long-on for an easy single

38.3 - Maharoof to Woakes, 2 runs, 200 up for England. Seems like someone has pressed the fast forward button here, ah! The thrills and spills of white ball cricket. Woakes looks to plonk this back of a length off-cutter onto the ground but ekes out an outside edge to third man. Woakes won't mind, England won't mind either....Good running too

37.5 - Pradeep to Buttler, 1 run, pulled square on the on-side

37.4 - Pradeep to Buttler, no run, tries to repeat the same shot but he backed away far too early and could only slice with thin air

37.3 - Pradeep to Buttler, FOUR, Sri Lanka will be kicking themselves. What are they doing? With all due credit to Jos Buttler though, jeez! Isn't he determined to stay till the end, now he unveils one of his favourite T20 strokes by shuffling across and scooping it past the keeper. Cheeky stuff that but he watched the ball all the way and played it ever so late. Top-notch!

16.2 - Maharoof to Moeen Ali, no run, back of a length angled across off, left alone

16.1 - Maharoof to Buttler, 1 run, fullish on off, Buttler walks across and clips it to fine leg. A dangerous thing to do, but Buttler has been doing it successfully up until now..

Moeen Ali, left handed bat, comes to the crease

That wicket also brings drinks on the field. Who would have thought at this stage Sri Lanka will be in the driver's seat? I certainly didn't. England have a long tail, but Buttler will remain the key. If Sri Lanka get rid of him, they will have one foot in the door...

15.6 - Pradeep to Eoin Morgan, out Caught by Chandimal!! Pradeep strikes. He has got the big fish. Morgan was the set batsman and England needed him to carry on, but unfortunately he is gone. Morgan has been fiddling with the steer for quite some time now, he finally manages to nick one. It was a well set-up wicket. The Sri Lankan bowlers kept bowling it just outside off on a short of length, with a slip and gully, Morgan goes for the glide to third man and gets an outside edge, which is held safely by Chandimal. A gully has been added...

8.5 - Lakmal to Eoin Morgan, no run, on a length and outside off, zips off the surface, Morgan watches it go past him. Nice carry through to Chandimal

8.4 - Lakmal to Buttler, 1 run, that was a risky run. The situation makes batsmen do something which they generally don't. Fullish and on the stumps, Buttler taps it to the left of mid-on and sets off, Shanaka gets across and hits timber at the bowler's end. Buttler was well in though
