Due to some technical problems, we are unable to cover live matches on our site and app. We are working on it and will be back soon. Please stay tuned for more.

Starc will start the proceedings with two slips in place.

Hello and welcome back for the second innings. Riding on the back of Matthew Wade's quick-fire fifty, the tourists posted a substantial total. However, the track is flat and the hosts will fancy their chances of chasing it down.

Adil Rashid was the chief wicket-taker for the home team and took four scalps. Rashid's variations certainly troubled the opposition ranks. He was also a trifle lucky in the sense that he picked up wickets through a couple of full tosses. It has to be said that barring Rashid and Moeen Ali, who was economical, rest of the English bowlers struggled a bit. The deck is flat and we could be in for an exciting contest, as the hosts look to overhaul the sizeable target.

Despite losing their way in the middle overs, Australia ended up with a very good total on the board. David Warner, Joe Burns and Steven Smith all looked in fine touch, but just couldn't covert it into big scores. To make it worse for the tourists, on the back of a terrible mix-up with Matthew Wade, Shane Watson was run-out. However, Wade and Mitchell Marsh cracked a volley of fine strokes, and strung together a key stand for the seventh wicket to lift their spirits. Wade also composed an enterprising fifty.

Australia scored 93 runs in the last 10 overs, but they would have got a lot more had Marsh not struggled for timing. Smith stands and applauds from the balcony. It has to be said that England executed the yorker very well at the death. Probably Australia are 15-20 runs short of a par score on this belter of a pitch.

Wade 0(6) Watson 6(11) Adil Rashid 10-0-59-4

36.6 - Adil Rashid to Wade, out Watson Run Out!! What have you done Matthew Wade? He's sold Watto down the river. Poor call from the left-hander, there was never a run in it. Australia have lost two wickets for 1 run now. Googly outside off stump, Wade pushes it to the right of cover and sets off, Stokes swiftly moves to his right and fires a throw adjacent to the stumps, Buttler does the rest. Watson was not even in the picture. Watson run out (Stokes/Buttler) 6(11)

Adil Rashid to Wade, THATS OUT!! Run Out!!

36.5 - Adil Rashid to Wade, no run, gets down on one knee to play a pre-meditated paddle-sweep, but the googly turns the other way and hits Wade on the body, impact was well outside off stump

36.4 - Adil Rashid to Wade, no run, googly again, but it's short enough for Wade to hang and defend, he read that off the pitch

36.3 - Adil Rashid to Watson, 1 run, tossed up and spinning away outside off stump, Watson takes a step down the track and drives it along the ground to long-off

36.2 - Adil Rashid to Watson, no run, the googly from Rashid, Watson dangerously hangs back in his crease and defends to the left of cover

Matthew Wade, left handed bat, comes to the crease

35.3 - Mark Wood to Maxwell, out Caught by Buttler!! Appeal from England and umpire Joel Wilson raises his finger. Maxwell ponders the review, meanwhile, as the umpires converge, he asks if they are checking if it was a clean catch, but the umpires were quite happy with what they saw and Maxi makes the walk back. This is a lucky wicket for Wood. Certainly not a wicket-taking delivery but he's got the big wicket of Maxwell. This could make a difference of at least 15-20 runs to the final score. Fullish and sliding down the leg-side, Maxwell tries to help it on its way to fine leg, but gets a faint tickle, Buttler dives low to his left and takes a good catch. Maxwell c Buttler b Mark Wood 15(15) [4s-1]

35.2 - Mark Wood to Watson, 1 run, a back foot punch through cover-point as Wood drags his length back slightly

35.1 - Mark Wood to Watson, no run, good length delivery outside off stump, Watson defends it to point

Time for drinks. The platform is set nicely for Maxi to explode. Smith and Warner gave their wickets away in trying to up the ante while Bailey misjudged one to be trapped lbw off the back foot. All the four wickets have been taken by Adil Rashid. Two were off full-tosses but they all count

So the world champions have taken a 1-0 lead in the series. England looked very good in their reply, but Australia put them under pressure and got the wickets when needed. Both teams now head to Lord's for the second ODI. It's a day game there and with the brand of cricket both teams are playing at the moment, trust me it's going to be an exciting contest. Looking forward to your company on Saturday then. Goodbye!

Wade: "Really happy with the start. Both personally and from the team's point of view. It was important for us to get off to a good start here. I just wanted to take it as deep as possible. We managed to post a good total in the end. I didn't really know what a good total was going to be. Maybe 10-15 more would have been nice, but we bowled and fielded well tonight. It's great to be back. I've been playing well in limited-overs cricket, so I just wanted to take the confidence into this series and play well. Coming after the Ashes series, this win is very important and hopefully we can take the momentum into the next game."

Matthew Wade is the Man of the Match

Smith: "It's nice to be on the winning side. Wade and Marsh - they batted really well to score 93 odd in the last 10 overs. I thought the score we got was around par. Joe Burns looked nice in only the two ODIs that he's played. Warner is a class act, hopefully the middle-order can support well in the coming games. We are No. 1 in the world and I think we are doing a few things right. We lost a few wickets in the middle there, but I thought Wade played some smart cricket alongside Marsh and got us to a good total. I liked the new rules. We are looking forward to the game at Lord's."

Morgan: "I think we lost it in the 10-15 overs in the middle of the chase. Australia bowled pretty well. We had a fantastic start, we should have chased down 305. They put us under the pump, they defended well and we are a better side than that. We will look at the replays and try and improve before Lord's. Very pleased with Rashid. He's bowled well since the New Zealand series, it was good to see him do well against a side like Australia. They are a very strong side, we've got to play really well to beat them. It's another opportunity for us at Lord's."

Credit has to go to the Australian bowlers for keeping their composure when the openers came out all guns blazing. Shane Watson picking up the key scalps of James Taylor and Morgan turned the game in Australia's favour. Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Nathan Coulter-Nile also ended up with two wickets each. Earlier in the day, Joe Burns, David Warner and Steven Smith essayed handy knocks. But it was the entertaining unbeaten 112-run stand between Matthew Wade and Mitchell Marsh that paved the way for the visitors to cross the 300-run mark. Adil Rashid picked a four-for for England. The second game of the five-match series will be played at Lord's on Saturday.

Despite Jason Roy and Alex Hales giving the hosts a rollicking start, they hurtled towards a defeat. In fact, even after the openers were sent back to the pavilion, England seemed to be in the game. However, once Eoin Morgan was dismissed, wickets tumbled in a heap and they just couldn't recover. Moeen Ali added a few runs down the order, but the damage had already been done.

The Australian players congratulate each other. They are extremely happy as they walk off the field, Smith leads them off the field. The England players come down to congratulate their opponents.

The key for England though is that Morgan is still at the crease and if Buttler can stay around for a while, things will change quickly. Wade signalled for a review, he didn't even consult the skipper. Replays clearly indicated that Stokes missed it by a long way

Australia have taken a review, for a caught behind against Stokes. Wade the man who went up straightaway, didn't even consult Smith. Fair delivery from Maxwell, looks like Stokes hasn't got any bat on that, nothing on the HotSpot, Dharmasena "can clearly see daylight between the bat and the ball" - as he says. So it will be NOT OUT. NO Snicko on offer for this series I guess

28.2 - Starc to Stokes, no run, dropped, but that's not an easy chance though. Full and straight from Starc, Stokes drives it firmly back at the bowler who gets a fingertip in his followthrough. Stretched his left hand but couldn't manage to grab it. Hard to take those

26.2 - Watson to James Taylor, out Bowled!! Well, almost a carbon copy of the last delivery. However, the only difference this time around is Taylor doesn't get anything on it as he charges the bowler, misses and his middle-stump gets shattered. Watson just kept it simple by looking to target the stumps, he got a bit of shape back into Taylor as well. Watson certainly knows that Taylor has the habit of moving around the crease. This time around, he won the battle. Perseverance has done the trick for the bowler. James Taylor b Watson 49(51) [4s-4 6s-1]
